Weird things you find satisfying

When I vacuum gritty stuff like grains, cats litter or remnants of her food that has dried (she’s a messy eater!!) I like the noise it makes as it get sucked up.

Another vacuum one, every couple months I get old tweezers and a thin wire to pick at the dust that’s in the vacuum head, the wheels, brushes, hard to reach spots. Extra satisfying if there’s a substantial little dust bunny hiding in the crevices.

After washing and drying the cat's bedding, her fur ends up as little balls stuck on the sheets. I just like picking them off.

The feeling of a freshly painted room

A smell of something I've not smelt for ages cropping up and I'm suddenly transported to another world briefly with a train of thoughts that last only a few moments

Freshly cleaned car carpet mats

Unblocking a sink or loo
Cleaning out a vacuum cleaner
Washing ddog blankets and leaving them out fresh for ddogs
Sweeping leaves
As a cleaner I absolutely love my job!

Bleaching a sink or toilet

Plumping sofa cushions. Just punching something for the gell of it, but simultaneously being productive

Slightly gross but I love cleaning all the greasy residue on hair combs! And when DS was a baby I used to love gently scratching his head so cradle cap would come loose. I am a weirdo!

I love removing the seeds from pomegranates intact! It’s deliciously sticky and they have a tendency to explode everywhere if you crack the pomegranate open too aggressively but it’s AMAZINGLY satisfying to fish them all out.

The sound of the bins being collected.

I also like making the margarine level again, after my kids have churned it all up (sooooo annoying)

Oh and I like making all the spines of my books on the shelves line up at the front, rather than shoving them back on the shelf. It makes me feel like I have a grand library.

Finding a flea on the cat and "popping" it.

Yep defo share the bleaching the toilet satisfaction. Such an oddly satisfying chore. Getting all those germs covered in bleach.

Lining all the cans of drink up in the fridge so they all face the same way and are in neat rows.

I'm not particularly fussy about storage aesthetics or the neatness of the fridge but since it's now only DH and I at home, I buy lots of different drinks and line them up - while I do it I imagine I am one of those 'organising influencers'!

Debobbling jumpers. Absolute bliss.

This is grim (don’t care) but I really really like tweezing hair out of the plug hole.

You will be pleased to learn that I have a special pair of tweezers purely for this job.

I just love it when my house is properly clean and tidy. I don't love doing it though so I don't get that feeling as often as I should.

This is literally the worst household task in the entire solar system plus infinity forever. It makes me physically sick.

@HalfWayAroundTheLoop I wish there was still the laughing emoji. I know, I can only share my weird fetish on here! That said, I ONLY like doing it in MY house when it’s just mine, DH’s and the DC’s hair. I wouldn’t be travelling around excavating random plug holes 🤢

I love brushing my cats in the spring when they start moulting 😻

It makes me heave aswell but I know its got to be cleared

I love peeling mushrooms.

Also matching up pairs of socks.

Wearing my trainers without socks: it feels nice. (I don’t do this for playing sport, but I do for outings such as going to the shops.)

Also picking up litter. I like to pick up recyclables especially: I don’t know if street cleaners separate it into recyclable or not.

I also TikTok people picking psoriasis off their scalps. I remember my first husband had very short hair and he got sunburnt on holiday.. his entire scalp was one bit flake. The only warm memory I have of that marriage is standing on the balcony and him letting me pick it off, flake by flake with my tweezers. I piled all the 50p size pieces in a little tower. It was fucking bliss.
