Why am I paying for these people to get benefits when they have

Only joking! If I have to see another thread from some selfish fucker moaning about other people having seemingly more than them, I'm going to rip my eyes out. Pay your fucking taxes and stop being so selfish! Or quit your job and go on benefits then if it's such the high life.

Did you miss the part were people have been migrated to uc from other benefits, hence the increase in number of UC claimants?

Not 5 million people!

Everyone is being assholes on everything at the moment arent they? Everyone thinks everyone else has a better deal and they’re being messed around

No. Only the arseholes are arseholes are arseholes. HTH.

Some people just won’t admit that there’s a huge group of this country being screwed over.

Well said.
Mumsnet is full of miserable goady threads lately, bemoaning how shit the UK is and everyone's planning to leave, almost like there's an underlying agenda by some third party to shit stir and cause unrest...

If it carries on I won't be bothering with the site, it'll get like Twitter/X.

Dollymylove · 27/11/2025 22:43

I can imagine the annoyance of people who work long hours to scrimp and save to try and start a family when others are popping out sprogs on a regular basis and have just had a huge rise income while sitting on their arse.
Christ no wonder they are all laughing at the "slaves" who are being taxed to kingdom come and back again 😡😡

Can one pop out a sprog whilst sitting on one's arse?

Honestly, this sort of shite posted on a parenting site is so depressing.

Aye but its not shite though, is it?

I think it`s wonderful that parents can now have more babies and i hope they do.
I hope parents have as many as they want more the better.

JacknDiane · 27/11/2025 22:54

I agree @Hedgehogbrown

Also I'm sick of reading threads about "will the extra money actually be spent on the children"

When did people start getting so feckin up their own arses???

To be honest for me it’d probably be the time a poster on here told me I was a spoilt brat for saying I wished there was more help for people who want to buy a house

JacknDiane · 27/11/2025 22:57

ILoveHotChocolates · 27/11/2025 22:22

My issue is, it’s always other people.

People who have kids they can’t afford. People who have lifestyles they can’t afford. People who retire and can’t afford to.

When will the genuine help come for my generation? Mid-20s, unable to buy, unable to rent, just stuck? What is being done to help us?

Fuck all actually

You are told "stop buying fancy coffees" and you'll get that mortgage in no time.

Not me. I'm content with my lot and I'm always happy for people worse off than I am to get a better deal, through fairer distribution of wealth and resources.

Dollymylove · 27/11/2025 22:50

Aye, but it is a pile of steaming shite. Most women don't pop out sprogs in order to get the benefits.

JacknDiane · 27/11/2025 22:57

Well, that’s exactly my point.

“don’t buy a coffee” “don’t go on holiday” meanwhile property prices spiral ever upwards and currently sit at about 15 times my salary in my local area. Of course what I should do is up and leave, leave my job, my family and my friends and move 500 miles away so I can be broke and miserable. But broke and miserable with nobody around me

Moreteaandchocolate · 27/11/2025 21:27

Most people on benefits are working long hours in low paid jobs. Strict UC sanctions apply for those who don’t work.

According to DWP’s official stats, 37% of people on Universal Credit were in work in December 2024. That isn’t “most people on benefits”, and I couldn’t find any data on the average number of hours worked. So I don’t know where you are getting your figures from to make that statement?

Pumpkindoodles · 27/11/2025 23:01

ILoveHotChocolates · 27/11/2025 21:24

How about we start making people work?

We whine and whine about people coming here to do low paid work but it’s because nobody here wants to do it. Unless you are so physically disabled to the point that you cannot work, you should have to do something.

Yeah get to work, spend your life working so you can still barely afford groceries and housing. The billionaires need their little worker ants. Poor Elon is only making a trillion atm.

You’re complaining about the wrong people

Do they not still have the help to buy scheme? My DS and DIL it got them onto the property ladder

Is it when you take out those who don’t have a requirement to work ( very young children , pensioners , disabled) then the majority of the remaining are in work?

A LISA is pretty useless when you need a deposit of £50k to have a chance of buying these days.

I think it`s wonderful that parents can now have more babies and i hope they do.
I hope parents have as many as they want more the better.

I hope decent parents who put their children’s needs first have as many children as they want and they are able to give a good start in life to.

I hope people who are, or would be, crap parents don’t have children.

And that’s regardless of income - crap parents can come from all demographics.

There will apparently be a consultation on a product for first time buyers to replace LISAs in 2026.

Whether that will actually help anyone who knows.

hmmnotreallysure · 27/11/2025 23:06

Good luck living on benefits is all I say as we're currently on UC due to redundancy and it doesn't even cover bills, let alone food!!
It most definitely isn't the high life that the right wingers lead us to believe it is!!

AKA, they’re binning off the LISA and replacing it with an even worse scheme because we have to pay more benefits and pensions.

brilliant

I agree but we don’t need joke “I hate people on benefits” threads, there are enough real ones 😩

I think we do need a separate ‘Benefit Bashing’ board though, where all the threads can get moved to.
