Mohammed bin Salman, the Saudi Crown Prince and de facto leader. Only some say it stands for Mohammed Bone Saw…

@AceKitten MBS is Mohammed Bin Salman (apols for typos) the prime minister and effective ruler .
@BlakeCarrington yes I agree! I think MBS has a tight grip on everything, especially his country’s image rehabilitation…

OSTMusTisNT · 26/11/2025 23:13

I wouldn't go there, lack of Human Rights and treatment of women/girls would play on my conscience. Would prefer to contribute to the tourism industry elsewhere.

Jellycatspyjamas · 26/11/2025 23:14

If I were going to Six Flags I’d go to San Antonio by choice, absolutely fabulous park.

DH lives/works there, so we'll stay with him. I lived in Riyadh for a few years with him.

Maybe do a bit of reading and educate yourself on tbeir appalling human rights record.
Freedom of expression not allowed.
Death penalty for minor misdemeanours.
LGBT rights non existent. Death penalty used in relation to same sex relationships.
Women have NO rights at all. They are the property of men.
Workers are the property of their employer.

There are a thousand other reasons to boycott.

How any adult with even passing engagement with any news source in the last 20 years can claim they don't know anything about the appalling things that happen there absolutely astounds me.

Women in general who challenge the guardianship system may be sent to shelters for troubled women, where according to human rights activists they face torture and sexual abuse.[96][103] Men are free to abuse women in Saudi Arabia, with reports of women being locked in their rooms for months or threatened with starvation or shooting for offenses such as getting the wrong kind of haircut or being in a relationship with a man the family has not approved.[96] Women cannot file police reports without the permission of a male guardian, and may end up being imprisoned by the government for complaining.[96]
According to Amnesty International, several arrested women's rights activists detained without charge in Dhahban Prison are enduring torture by electrocution, flogging, hanging from the ceiling, and sexual assault.[115]

Nice place for a holiday.

dottiehens · 26/11/2025 23:17

Never ever.

Yabayabadoo · 26/11/2025 23:17

Its a no from me

CleanSkin · 26/11/2025 23:18

Would never visit an Arab state.

TinyRebel · 26/11/2025 23:18

Yes, but only to visit a family member too, who is Saudi/British. She has a very successful career there and I’m always interested in hearing her perspective.

AgnesMcDoo · 26/11/2025 23:18

Women have no rights
gay people have no rights
public executions and flogging for being gay or a victim of rape are common
one of the highest rates of executions in the world
no fair trials
no freedom of speech

and that’s just for starters

so no I would go there for a theme park

Lifesd · 26/11/2025 23:19

Maybe you could take in a public execution while you are there OP?

Comtesse · 26/11/2025 23:20

No thanks. There are about 10000 places I’d rather go to.

BettyRubblecausestrouble · 26/11/2025 23:20

Shmithecat2 & AceKitten be sure to enjoy!
just do not bother with a Go Fund Me when it all goes horribly wrong cos you blinked at the wrong time, dared to look at a local man or God forbid get sexually assaulted ( you will be blamed and imprisoned)

Haven't been public for 3 years

Nopersbro · 26/11/2025 23:22

Not unless I spontaneously grow a penis!! 🍆

Also, check the price for the basic tourist e-visa based on your country of citizenship; I think it starts at around £70 for UK passport holders, assuming you already have acceptable insurance coverage.

I lived there for 7 years quite safely and untroubled, but thanks anyway.

Ah, all good then
you carry on…what the eye don’t see and all…

InLoveWithAI · 26/11/2025 23:24

You claim not to know about the place but are asking if others would go. If you don't know about the awful human rights issues, why are you asking?

IndigoIsMyFavouriteColour · 26/11/2025 23:25

Yes I would love to visit Saudi.

BUT you are not the only person in this world…but I guess you care only for your own ignorant, selfish carcass.
people like you are why evil flourishes
