Tax TAx TAX!!!!!! Fuming at our government!

1000 replies

Baldylovingbeard · 26/11/2025 13:29

please try and convince me otherwise…..

What a joke this government are!!! ( UK)

Let’s just tax everyone who earns a bit of cash!!! Oh and while we’re at it… go on have loads more children it’s ok others will pay for them!!! Cutting the 2child benefit cap! If you decide to have multiple children you should be able to afford to provide for them. NOT expect others too!!!!! If you fall on hard times and you’ve worked and contributed to paying tax than you are within your rights to claim tax this is what benefits were made for, it’s not a means to not work, have more kids….etc!

Oh and if you work really hard and want to put some money by for you later days in life…. You’ll be taxed!

My situation:
Part time work, full time mum to 1 child. I work for myself and earn around 10k this money usually pays for things our daughter needs… clothes, clubs, any treats.
Husband works long hours, his under a lot of stress with his job, he has worked his way to and earns a very good salary 100k he gets taxed 60% you do the maths on that! We live in a 3 bed around £280k so nothing crazy but live within our means. We have one car! One holiday a year! Put money into savings! Pension! our daughter goes to one after school club. My husband got kicked out of home at 16…. He has worked with no help from family or friends and I believe he has worked very hard to get to where he is now. we are generous with charity’s and try our best to help out when we can if we can!

If we want public services we need to pay tax.

Just look at the crippling and increasing costs of adult social care to look after an aging population and the rise in the number of children with SEND.

The Conservative government slashed public services, through starving LA’s of money. Thus has impacted all services including schools. This needs to be reversed through tax rises.

Happy to pay my share. (higher rate tax payer).

Everything is taxed, except the air we breathe for now. And if it's not taxed, it'll be retroactively taxed and regulated to all hell.

Regulation helps stuff grow, right? Right?! No, no, it really, really doesn't.

Oh well. We'll survive. Maybe.

As for those who actually enjoy being taxed, as in they look at their payslip, throw their hands up in the air and exclaim "I really don't pay anywhere NEAR enough tax! I should be paying MORE!" (categorically never happens) I have no words for them as it's a depth of stupidity never plumbed.

How do you think society should be paid for, if not through taxes?

What on earth does this mean, you are arguing for fewer people to vote in the future?

I think you’ll find it’s mainly immigrant families that have the big families. And before you leap in I’m not anti immigrant. However an immigrant friend has 6 children and gets a lot of benefits already. Will be more now.

Can you cite your source on this? Please share where you have got this data.

ONS figures show the vast majority of families do not have more than two children.

There was a woman interviewed on Radio 4 last night who said her husband was a lorry driver who earned well and if it wasn’t for him having to pay tax she wouldn’t have to work herself. I wanted to ask whether she also only ever used a private GP, hospital and education providers …

I think that’s just the kind of mindset people get themselves into. Everything should be better but I don’t want to pay a penny more in tax for it.

Anyway your first priority is to get your husband’s tax sorted as he’ll get a nice big rebate on the 60% you say he’s been paying.

This!!!

We have become a nation of self entitlement, no compassion, and no desire to invest in our community.

This has been driven by the ultra rich hoarding wealth and the media blaming the deprived.

HairsprayBabe · 26/11/2025 14:39

"BUT I work hard for my 100k a year..."

So? You think the single mum hospital porter on minimum wage with 3 kids on UC isn't hard working?

Because that is where the VAST majority of benefits go - after pensions of course. (which are a benefit like it or not babe)

To working single parents.

Get to fuck the greedy lot of you.

crackofdoom · 26/11/2025 14:39

Blinkingbother · 26/11/2025 13:59

The money for extra child benefit would be far better put to use feeding these kids good meals at school and providing wrap around care in a stable environment…..rather than going to so many parents who very sadly put it to their own benefit not the children’s!!!!

Well, Labour will make free school meals universal for all families claiming UC, so they've done that too 🤷‍♀️

888casino · 26/11/2025 14:40

Scraping the two child limit must be a joke? I’m not perfect got pregnant at 15 fave birth at 16 but 4+ kids by 4 different dads and expecting other peoples taxes to pay is surely taking the piss?
I mean seriously? Raising taxes for THIS?? I doubt many people will vote labour again

They don’t think, that’s the problem.

No idea why people think MNs users are educated…

Crikeyalmighty · 26/11/2025 14:41

Ah we have the people wanting scandi level services and Dubai tax levels - personally I’m a centre left voter but have always thought tax banding levels at the middle band need to be raised significantly, maybe more like £55 or £60k . I think it’s the middle who are being stuffed and the lower end of ‘high earners’ - as I’ve said on another post we actually have one of the highest tax free levels in Europe - many country’s it’s £4 or £5k !! So not sure why people get their knickers in a twist about that - if you want low tax levels you get it loaded on goods - think Switzerland, Dubai, Singapore etc - there are too many people who are able to work if work available but not contributing at all and too many who contribute little financially but were happy for Brexit and the many billions being lost to this every year that could be better spent -

It never ceases to amaze me that people have the absolute deepest sympathy for people being taxed on their high privilege while at the same time there are multiple threads flaming people on benefits and complaining about the minimum wage being raised.

Probably. I don't care. My husband voted for them on my behalf in protest (I don't vote, that's a man's job), not because he wants them in power.

Strewth.

Here. Here. I’m in a similar boat. I work part time in a professional healthcare role (£36k) 32hrs. DH earns £80-£100k self employed. Live in the SE. 3 bed house. Trying for children. One car between us. One holiday or a couple of UK breaks per year. Getting squeezed. We barely put our heating on.

And tax payers money has never helped you?

Yes it did but I didn’t take the piss by having an entire platoon of kids, grown women who should know better doing this too. At least I had the excuse of being young

BatshitOutofHell · 26/11/2025 14:44

FurbieFan · 26/11/2025 13:40

I broadly agree except when it comes to the super rich and tax on unearned income.

See attached picture: In a rich village in London where I live, this is a not-unusual rise in price in just under 30 years. A property now worth nearly 6m; most of this rise has not been earned. Is it fair that this is untaxed?

I certainly don’t want to fund lazy people to have lots of kids they can’t afford. I also don’t want to fund rich people to live off the fat of their investments untaxed.

Furbie, tell me this is a joke. How can a house that sold for almost £500,000 sell for almost £6m 16 years later!? WTAF. I wish that was my house. Where is it?

NewGoldFox · 26/11/2025 14:44

Nickyknackered · 26/11/2025 13:32

That's a bit rich considering you work part time. How lucky you are that you married someone who can subsidise that choice you've made.

Fortunately now op’s husband can subsidise all the other mothers too.

Edited

Maybe they 'at least have the excuse' of being in an abusive relationship/a multiple birth/having been raped/losing a job after a child was born....? You can't just say it's fine for you to have an unplanned pregnancy but nobody else!

Pricelessadvice · 26/11/2025 13:38

But she’s not working part time and expecting the tax payer to pick up the bill, is she? Her husbands job allows her to be part time while she is raising children.

Yes she is. No doubt she is using the nhs and other public services while paying fuck all in tax. Marrying a ‘hard working’ man doesn’t make you hard working. Her husband should pay more tax to account for the fact that she is sitting at home contributing nothing.
