Saturday night - what’s for dinner? - having a drink? - what are you up to?

It’s cold and miserable here and I’m skint til pay day. We’re having a dirty Saturday night tea of proper chicken Kyiv, big fat chips & veggies. Currently slurping on what’s left of last nights white wine and contemplating a Christmas film instead of Strictly, maybe The Holiday…What are you all up to?

Had a productive day here. Got our tree up and did lots of cleaning and decluttering. Popped along to our local light switch on and now back home in front of the fire. Will definitely be having wine and a takeaway tonight. It’s very misty and cold here.

Wildflowers78 · 22/11/2025 17:53

We have a sick household so it’s been a rare Saturday at home for us! Currently waiting on our Japanese takeaway arriving and watching TV

ConnieHeart · 22/11/2025 17:54

We're off to our local Spoons as I want to try their Chocolate Orange Espessso Martini

gingercat02 · 22/11/2025 17:54

DH and DS are at the football. Strictly and wine for me. DS is going straight out to an 18th, DH and I are having Kedgeree for tea, with more wine. Probably watching the last 2 episodes of The Iris Affair.

TheChosenTwo · 22/11/2025 17:55

Just about to drop dd at a friends house, they are going out tonight. Then I’m coming back to drink water in front of the fire!
Dh and ds are on their way back from a football match, stopping off for supplies to cook me a steak dinner.
quiet Saturday here which is lovely, been a busy week tbh so glad of the respite.

Iamblossom · 22/11/2025 17:56

Cancelled going out to friends as DH ill so white wine, snacks and leftover chilli for me, fire is on, and I'm binging the beast in me on netflix

R00tat00tt00t · 22/11/2025 17:56

@doeadeer2 Sounds like you’ve had a great day. Curling up in front of the fire sounds perfect!
@Wildflowers78 Hope everyone is on the mend soon. I’m still recovering from a nasty chest that’s been going on for weeks. Enjoy your takeaway.

Faggots, mash and mushy peas in about 30 minutes. I’ve got some wine but not in the mood tbh so I’ll save that for another day.

MinnieMountain · 22/11/2025 17:58

DH and I are going out for dinner to a smart place for my birthday. It’s my yearly treat. I’ll probably have beef wellington.

Doro371 · 22/11/2025 17:59

DH is at the football. DS12 has a cold and is watching it on TV. My plan was to put up some Christmas decorations and continue reading my book, but I had a horrible week at work, feeling shattered and just mumsnetting a bit. Having leftovers, contemplating some wine. When football is finished, I might watch Bad Moms 2.

WonderingWanda · 22/11/2025 18:02

Drinking lemsip and feeling sorry for myself in front of the fire.

Nigellastwinklylights · 22/11/2025 18:04

Watching a really awful Christmas movie on C5 - A very Yorkshire Christmas. Wine poured. Dinner nearly ready. In my pj’s. Log burner lit. Dog being a pain in the ar$e, as he’s only had a short walk today.

IndigoIsMyFavouriteColour · 22/11/2025 18:06

Husband is cooking a lasagne, one child is on PlayStation in his room, the other two are in the front room with me, playing Minecraft and the other is doing a maths paper for school. I am watching big brother and relaxing, waiting for my lasagne. Will probably watch a film a little later after dinner and just relax on the sofa while husband rubs my feet. All in front of our lovely wood burner. It’s wet and miserable outside so enjoying our warm little house.

TeenLifeMum · 22/11/2025 18:09

Chicken pie with veg/roast potatoes and parsnips. Watching IT crowd with teens. No alcohol because I’m on call for work. Cosy candles lit.

mynameiscalypso · 22/11/2025 18:14

Other than taking DS to his swimming lesson this morning, we’ve had an incredibly lazy day. DS is having his tea now and then it will be bath and bed for him. I think DH and I will have nachos for our dinner later and catch up on some TV from the week. No wine for me as I had a couple of boozy nights in the week and I need to finish a job application later. Also planning a long bath before bed.

BiddyPopthe2nd · 22/11/2025 18:16

I’ve had a day of housework and catching up. Dinner is 2 chicken thighs roasted with the scraps of veg from the fridge (onion, garlic, pepper, courgette, mushrooms and tomato) and roasted baby potatoes that needed to get used up. I have a glass of wine.

And tomorrow is a freshly bought pork chop with the very last of the potatoes and cauliflower cheese (there was a good offer last weekend on caulis).

NormasArse · 22/11/2025 18:16

I’ve had lasagna. I’m contemplating having some wine. The dogs are cosy and I don’t want to move though.

Onesipmore · 22/11/2025 18:22

Veal Saltimboca, Glass of fizz, woodburner, Strictly. Sleep

WFHforevermore · 22/11/2025 18:35

Just got back from DisneyParis and absolutely shattered! DH REALLY missed me so has ordered a chicken takeaway, too tired to drink tonight and had enough at Disney anyway!

Might start watching Slow Horses.

moondip · 22/11/2025 18:38

Snuggling in bed with my 4-month-old. There’s a ready meal in the fridge that I might sneak down and have if a cot transfer is possible around anything resembling dinner time - otherwise, I’ll probably grab it in the middle of the night! We’ve got our fairy lights and ambient music on 🌟

PeonyBulb · 22/11/2025 18:40

Got home from work an hour ago and had pork chops with a baked potato and tender stem broccoli with red wine followed by honeydew melon

RescueMeFromThisSilliness · 22/11/2025 18:40

DH is cooking and we are having fish fingers & chips. He has also rather randomly decided to make a rice pudding.

PeonyBulb · 22/11/2025 18:42

Watch Harry Potter whilst cooking, catching up on eastenders and I’m a celebrity and if I’m not asleep after I’ll watch a film

Purplecatshopaholic · 22/11/2025 18:43

Had the dogs out at the dog park this afternoon - cue lots of running about daft. So they’re knackered and snoozing. Just had a cheeky chippy tea and watching the football later (late 8pm kick off). Heating on, so it’s all cosy.

AlanJohnsonsBeemer · 22/11/2025 18:44

DH and I have been cleaning and shopping (boring, not fun shopping) all day and I squeezed in a bit of work and an exercise class.

We have friends coming over for curry and wine. We have made curry already so we are not faffing about when they get here.

DS is off out with his mates

DD and friends are en route from last nights sleepover to here for tonight’s sleepover. She is angling for a sushi delivery. But as it is close to payday and she has been less than lovely lately, I am waiting to see how nice she is and how large her entourage is before agreeing or not.
