Some fucker has stolen my Nectar points

How the hell?? Just got an email from Nectar saying they've been spent at the other end of the country, checked my app - and sure enough, they've all gone 😡

Anyone know what my chances are of getting them back?

OP posts:
billybear · 20/11/2025 21:39

happened to me a few years ago spent in a place i have not evan heard off, nectar very good got them back in a few weeks. its a bit thing i believe, they were ment to be putting in place special messures to stop it happening, recent email about having to do something different to spent the [points good luck

socialdilemmawhattodo · 20/11/2025 21:42

Yes I had this in June. Just a few points used. A call to nectar and then I had the added complication that mine was actually a junior card for an account that myself and my ex-husband had set up probably over 15 years ago, that was another very, very, very long-winded conversation, finally got sorted new account new card.

But then that messed up Nectar Canvass points. Another long conversation supposedly all sorted, wasn't so had to deal with it via webchat this week now all sorted but gosh, a lot of time.

I like the Nectar scheme. It really is the only one that looks at what I buy and offers money or points off. The Indian call centre service is variable. But I feel sorry for the staff there - i imagine they get a lot of abuse. I hope the outsourcing is not key-stroke. Always fails.

StarlightLady · 20/11/2025 21:49

OP, let us know how you get on.

And thanks to others advising about the locking function. I hadn’t noticed it was there.

LocoBurrito · 20/11/2025 21:51

Ours were stolen too a few months ago. Phone up Sainsbury's and they'll get it sorted.

shuggles · 20/11/2025 21:53

That fucker.

Cyclistmumgrandma · 20/11/2025 21:56

Mine were stolen but Nectar refunded them and I have now locked them in the app.

Carpedimum · 20/11/2025 21:56

Jeez!! Just checked mine after reading this thread to find 500 points were ‘spent’ at a London Sainsbury’s branch on a date when I was nowhere near there. I will be on to Nectar first thing. Thanks for drawing this to my attention @SirChenjins

NoWordForFluffy · 20/11/2025 21:59

Youdontseehow · 20/11/2025 21:24

Well it certainly wasn’t me as I haven’t got a clue how to use them!

honestly Sainsbury’s Nectar has to be the worst loyalty card ever. Such a faff to spend them. Every time I try I just get pissed off and leave it.

It's dead easy. Where are you trying to spend them?

Nonbio46 · 20/11/2025 22:01

It happened to me and I got my points back. Also had the pleasure of seeing what the thieves spent my points on in my favourites section. 😀

Mumwithbaggage · 20/11/2025 22:07

Someone tool dh's BA points - enough for 2 return 1st class trips to Australia! (He travelled for work for a long time.) Luckily he noticed an email saying thanks for transferring them to another airline. Eventually he has got them back. Scary stuff. Hope you get them back OP.

FallingDownARabbitHole · 20/11/2025 22:09

I just used my nectar points towards an online Argos order. To use them I had a code sent to my phone. I used points a few months ago through Argos and I didn’t get a code text to me then so I’m guessing this is another new safeguard to stop points being stolen

Starship74 · 20/11/2025 22:10

Jonstantlycuggling · 20/11/2025 20:29

This is a scam doing the rounds near us. Someone asks if you'd like their points as they don't have their card. Seems like a win win...they get nectar price, you get points. But when they go to pay, they can click on "use nectar points" and they do! Sorry it's happened to you 😥

This happened to me a few months ago- a lady said she didn't have a nectar card and asked to scan mine to get the offer. I let her scan mine except I didn't have any points to spend so I earnt her points and she got nothing 😅

I didn't clock it might be a scam until a few minutes later.

flatpack1 · 20/11/2025 22:17

This happened to me. I have tried to report online and on the app. Both are shit and keep telling me I don't exist so I can't get a new card. Never shopping there again.

ThePoshUns · 20/11/2025 22:22

Fallulah · 20/11/2025 20:28

This happened to us! £45 worth spent at petrol stations in London (we are nowhere near there). We hadn’t given anyone else our card details. I contacted Nectar on social media and they sorted out a new card and gave us all the points back.

On the new app you can ‘lock’ your points so they can’t be spent. It must be because this was happening to so many people.

Edited

I had the same £19.50 also at a petrol station in a rough part of London

Bloodylovecheese · 20/11/2025 22:26

Happened to me about 2 months ago. We got them reinstated after calling customer care. They know its a problem, and you can put blocks on them being spent with extra security on the app.

DappledOliveGroves · 20/11/2025 22:54

Had mine stolen a few years ago. Called the helpline and they were reinstated. I now auto-convert my points each week to Avios and have spending on the app locked, so usually there’s minimal points in my account anyhow as they’re all converted pretty quickly.

TurquoiseDress · 20/11/2025 22:57

Yeah I had this a few months ago, had around £25 in points and one evening received an email to say they’d been spent in another part of London I’ve never been to

Called up Nectar and they refunded the points & sent out a new card

I realised I’d unlocked my points via the app the week before as I was going to spend them, then changed my mind and left them unlocked

Their online security systems clearly must be pretty crap

ThePoshUns · 20/11/2025 23:02

It makes you wonder how secure the app is if you have to lock your points.

NoWordForFluffy · 21/11/2025 06:08

ThePoshUns · 20/11/2025 23:02

It makes you wonder how secure the app is if you have to lock your points.

I don't think it's a hacking situation. I think it's somebody guessing card numbers (with software) and then spending when they find one with unlocked points.

JamieFrasersSassenach · 21/11/2025 06:22

This happened to me a few weeks ago and as I’m the second card holder (my card is joined to DH account) they’ll only discuss refunding with him. I’m so cross about that - it was my card scammed, I’m the main nectar card user and Nectar emailed me to say the points had been spent - that instead of adulting and getting DH to contact them, I’m sulking and refusing to shop in Sainsburys!! I might try social media rather than their chat function. And I had no idea about the locking down function either.

Youdontseehow · 21/11/2025 06:45

NoWordForFluffy · 20/11/2025 21:59

It's dead easy. Where are you trying to spend them?

In Sainsbury’s itself. I don’t shop there regularly but when I do and try to use my points, I can never “find” them on the app so I decide to just leave it til next time and look up how to do it - but then I never do lol

Ifailed · 21/11/2025 06:57

ThatCyanCat · 20/11/2025 21:13

Does this happen if you don't have the app?

I don't have the App, yet still lost them.
I can't even log on to their website - When I try it sends me a number to my email, once entered it tells me my email address is wrong!

Tighteningmybelt · 21/11/2025 06:58

They stole a couple of hundred from my elderly parents and nectar said tough. They spend them on eBay. Absolute cunts.

WideOpenBeaches · 21/11/2025 06:59

🤯🤯🤯
Holey Morley… so stealing Nectar points is a thing?

I lost all mine in the summer. Thought I’d lost the plot. Was saving for Christmas. Now up to about £2.50

CBA with yet another app so usually flash my card instead.

Im going to get onto them today too.

I flipping love ❤️ MN.

Candelle · 21/11/2025 07:01

I had no idea this was something to worry about, so thanks for posting this, OP.

I've just locked my points, and I hope you get yours back.
