How many countries have you been to Europe

As long as I can remember, I have had a life long goal to visit every country in Europe.

It is a slow process. I am 41 and so far I have visited 27 out of 44.

Slowly ticking then off. Like a lot of us I dont get a lot of annual leave a year.

How many have you been to?

The plan was to travel around Europe in a camper van when we retire. But we have snoring issues. So far I have been to:

in the near future we want to go to Scandinavia, Budapest and Lithuania.

I've been to every one. The least for 2 nights, the most for 11 years! I'm actually 13 off completing the world.

I didn’t encounter this, probably because I wasn’t traveling on a western passport, but I’ve heard about it being common on the Moldovan border. I believe the trick is to put a Euro note in your passport next to the migration card and hand it over, or at least it used to be.

They took our passports off us and refused to give them back until we paid. We were shitting our pants but the “fine” was only about 10€ 😆,

Gaining into Ukraine fron Tranistria was a bit more frought. Two border control guys got on the bus and one stayed at the door. They were massive with guns. I had to get off the bus and point to my bag for it to be scanned. The guy in a room byhimself with the scanner just snapped a few questions asking 'cigarettes?, alcohol? Drugs? I just said no and he laughed. It broke the tension and he said welcome to the Ukraine.
It didnt feel like a great start to the trip and im not going to lie it took my adrenaline a while to calm down.

4 in the U.K. plus France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Italy, Hungary, Czech Republic, Spain. On my 2026-2027 list is Slovenia, Denmark, Poland and Croatia.

I've got 7 to go: Andorra, Belarus, Estonia, Kosovo, Liechtenstein, Moldova and San Marino. I'm intending to visit all of them within the next 10 years.

What are the 13 you have left?

1 - France when I was about 10. I navigated my dad all the way down to Toulouse on a huge car road map (days before sat-nav!)

Have no ambition to see the world. Don’t have much enthusiasm to spend much time on this part of the planet, let alone exploring other countries.

Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and Ireland. Plus Spain, Portugal, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Greece, Croatia, Montenegro, Turkey and the Vatican City.

I’d love to visit some of the Scandinavian countries and Switzerland and Austria.

I’ve been to 22 countries in Europe and feel like I’ve done a lot of Europe (I’ve been to several countries multiple times, visiting different parts, various islands etc).

I live in the States now and my goal is to travel around the country and visit as many states as possible. I’m on 11 😎

France, Germany, The Netherlands, Luxemburg, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Andorra, Spain, Belgium, Monaco. I think that's it.

Until 2.5 years ago I'd only travelled to 4 (Spain, Germany, France and Belgium). I won't/can't fly. Then I found cruises and a lot of places I've spend two days and have travelled there loads. I've done 15 more in 2.5 years. Plus Canada, America and some of the islands in the Caribbean (6).

Slovenia, Austria and Slovakia are on the list for next year.

10, including Wales & Scotland. 11 if Turkey is included. I like travelling so it's quite depressing seeing such a small number. I have been all over France though & visited some others several times.
