The wider Christmas season actually goes on until Candlemas on 2 February (which us why many churches will have their nativity scene on display until then). I wish we had a tradition of leaving a few lights up until then, not the whole tree hut a few lights to cheer us through January.

I do this, leave fairy lights up till the clock change, helps me feel less gloomy.

I cannot understand it when people take trees down on Boxing Day, it’s still Christmas! I love having the house all twinkly and cosy for that quiet period til twelfth night.

I hate when people buy new decorations every year, I usually get one new bauble each year and I love all the memories the old ones have.

I am guilty of one of those upthred though, last year I bought old fashioned coloured lights for the tree and I absolutely love them. Remind me of my childhood 80s Christmases.

Gonks (surely I’m not the only one!)
Flashing Xmas lights, especially
blue ones
Elf on a shelf
Hot chocolate stations
I bloody love Christmas and each to their own but these are not for me.

Very miseable of me but men in christmas theme suits. I don't know why it makes me cringe because I love a christmas jumper but it just does

That ‘helpful advice’ that does the rounds every year (from a Butcher maybe) about Aunt Bessie’s, Bisto and squeezing sausages into paxo.

I agree with this. Miserly fun sponges the lot of them. It’s Christmas! Eff off with your aunt Bessie’s - it’s a celebration!
