Chocolate recommendations please!

I need help finding nice chocolate please!

The first is a box of chocolates to say thank you to someone. Happy to spend a lot of money on this but they need to be nice chocolates (have bought Godiva before and didn’t think they were that good!).

Second is an advent calendar for DH. He likes simple chocolate ones, as in no flavours, etc. Just chocolate on its own. I’ve bought the Hotel Chocolate Milk Chocolate one before but wanted to go for something different but again, struggling to find one!

Any recommendations anyone?

M&S do lovely chocolates

captainoctopus · 15/11/2025 17:25

Our local chocolate company, Chococo, does the most wonderful chocs. It started really small in a workshop in Swanage - used to be able to see them making the chocs through the window.

Nb. They try out different flavours regularly. Can't say I liked the beer flavoured ones much 😁

I like Lindt, have got the adult DC the M&S £13.75 ones and they I have a Liberty truffle one.
I don’t really like the Hotel Chocolat chocolate, find it’s not very smooth.

Tony’s Chocoloney?

I just buy the bars in the supermarket so might not be ‘special’ enough. They have an advent calendar but think it’s different types of chocolate. Think they also do gift sets and I really enjoy their chocolate.

AmethystMoonShine · 15/11/2025 17:28

Audrey’s chocolate is the company that makes F&M chocolates, they’re lovely.

wobblytwo · 15/11/2025 17:29

Could the thank you chocolates be Hotel Chocolat? They do massive trays!

Defiantlynot41 · 15/11/2025 17:31

Neuhaus are lovely - you can choose your own selection or have a pre prepared one, they also do a great selection of advent calendars

I’m still mourning the closure of Paul A Young, their chocolate caramels and Ferraro Rocher chocs were fab

Bit niche but The Chocolate Box in Lydney in Gloucestershire is award winning and does bespoke selections by post

More mainstream, I think Waitrose own No1 brand is very very good and reputedly made by one of the best chocolatiers - I want to say Angela’s but I might have misremembered

Sprig1 · 15/11/2025 17:41

Lindt would be my go-to. I don't like Hotel Chocolat chocolate. It tastes soapy.

JacknDiane · 15/11/2025 17:59

Chardonnay et Walker pink champagne truffles, get them from www.johnlewis.com

Truly fantastic

SoapCollector · 15/11/2025 18:08

Charbonnel et Walker

SoapCollector · 15/11/2025 18:09

Posted too soon! Charbonnel et Walker are lovely and nicely presented.

SoapCollector · 15/11/2025 18:10

@JacknDiane we have the same taste! 😁

Salome61 · 15/11/2025 18:13

I avoid any chocolate containing palm oil and do recommend Guylian. They support Project Seahorse too.

LoveSandbanks · 15/11/2025 18:18

Prestat are lovely chocolates or Charbonnel et walker. Hotel chocolat are now owned by thorntons and not what they were imo

Belindabelle · 15/11/2025 18:20

Iain Burnett the Highland Chocolatier is my go to when I want to impress. I received a box of Lindt Dessert Creation earlier this year and enjoyed them. If you can shop at Costco they have a fantastic selection of chocolates at this time of year including lovely tins of Belgian chocolates.

RH1234 · 15/11/2025 18:21

We just buy M&S, no one complains

Thank you for the suggestions everyone, much appreciated!

Looking for something a bit more luxury than Lindt, Tony’s, etc - the chocolate gift needs to be extraordinary but the Highland one and Melt look ideal - thank you!

Have tried Chococo before and wasn’t blown away either tbh!
