A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

We are bracing for the budget 😬

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Ha absolutely spot on.

Every leak risks employers shedding staff. Every leak damages the retail sector. Every leak sends people into a savers frenzy.

They will not be forgiven for creating this turmoil.

I do think Labour will benefit from quite a few softer Lib and Tory votes to keep the Faragistas out.

Funny how fast time flies. This time next year we’ll be heading into the final half of this Labour government, assuming they do five years. Seems like only yesterday that Louise Haigh was saying after her ministerial appointment that she’d ‘move fast and fix things’. 🤭

DH had a first (for him) this week - half a lamb in part-payment of his veterinary invoice.

We had visitors this afternoon from the rural community. Cash and bartering is king again apparently. They can get me lamb and beef this way. Been offered venison too.

You don't think they are going to be a lot of shy 'Reform' voters then. The polls are underestimating Reform by at least 2 points (You Guv 5-6) . The Conservative vote is likely to lose 5% to Reform if a desperate two horse race evolved featuring Reform and the combined tactical left vote. There is only about 1% of the Conservative 15/16% vote who would consider the Lib Dems to keep out Reform.

Isn’t that only if they are the beating option? If Labour are polling really low those votes could go to any of the other parties.

redange · 14/11/2025 19:13

What does greatly concern me though, is that over 45% would vote for parties of the 'Hard Left' Greens Communist, Labour Totalitarian Socialist, Lib Dem crack pots and the two nationalist parties are all hard left parties.

I was in the office this week and a colleague said she was going out at lunch to get cash for her cleaner. Said she now paid cash because she did no longer really gave a shit about whether her cleaner declared it or not.

EasternStandard · 14/11/2025 19:20

I’m not surprised at people doing this. The gov treats people with contempt and gaslights, what do they expect

Yes its everywhere now, and I don't mind at all. My hairdresser is now cash only, as is the local Chinese takeaway, window cleaner, dog groomer. They all took card or bank transfers before the last budget. There has been a huge change in mentally amongst everybody I know, one I haven't seen before.

Really concerning. Seems every last fantasy and delusion will have to be given a chance until some people are willing to face reality and start digging out of this mess.

Hard agree.

I've been hearing rumblings along these lines for a while. Previously people were very silent if they paid cash. Now it's all shrugs and angry defiance.

The mood is different overall. i spoke earlier about how I had lunch with a friend and we started talking about how much we hate Labour. I have lived in the country (bloody forriner, I am) since 2005 and with the single exception of one friend who was UKIP then Reform I have never had a political discussion with anyone where I could completely and reliably pinpoint their politics. The mood is different and the conversations that are now commonplace are different.

And none of it is to Labour's advantage.

redange · 14/11/2025 19:38

I can't under any circumstances see the polls improve for the Labour Party..

I read your post, and I just feel so bloody sad tbh.

That a farmer is compelled (or elects) to pay your DH’s invoice in such a way.
We should be protecting our farmers - not shitting on them as Labour have done.

It’s terrific that DH is so accommodating.

I will stop ranting.

It is sad; farmers are generally proud people, unwilling to ask for favours, but DH puts animals first always, then strives to find dignified solutions to preserve his clients' dignity while keeping his accounts in order. It's the cost of pharmaceuticals that's the problem - that and the diabolical damage inflicted by this appalling government.

redange · 14/11/2025 19:55

My sister is a farmers wife, though in a more fortunate position at present. However, they have serious concerns over IHT which would cost them £2 Million despite being a large farm and profit usually around £80K pa which needs to be re-invested. That is why my sister is still teaching at 56...

Kill the farms and have no affordable food. Secondly my Brother in Law and sister do' not want to be Millionaires they want to be farmers.

EasternStandard · 14/11/2025 19:59

Blinking heck. That’s stark. That kind of manipulation through education is something else.

Legolava · 14/11/2025 19:59

Meh. There are a huge cohort of teachers sadly, who are extremely hard left. I have had reason to complain to my children’s school where a teacher outs themselves as a proud Marxist and forces this onto the children as the ideal. Legally, a teacher should not be encouraging partisan political views.

redange · 14/11/2025 20:01

Apparently reform are equal with Oswald Mosley and have some members who have extreme views. The Labour Party of course are virtuous and wholesome and have no anti Semites within the membership...

EasternStandard · 14/11/2025 20:02

Labour are heavily briefing out immigration policies touting ‘centre left’ from Denmark and the BBC run it without a pause. It’s a farce.

The hypocrites should be out just for playing people.

One of my friends has a daughter doing a business studies course at one of the new universities on the South Coast. Pre-2024 GE students on her course were told by their lecturer to vote Labour as it was the "right and sensible thing to do." 🤬

Well said. I always use family owned vets, no exceptions.
We have had to move a few times as they were bought up by bigger companies. We're now at the only family owned vets for miles, and its a long drive to get there. I'm trying my best to support vets like yours, but they are becoming thin on the ground where I live.
Enjoy every bite of your lamb. Tax that Rachel! 😁

The sad thing is i don't believe the chart is meant in a totally malicious way, many teachers are ignorant on their understanding of politics. The way they interpret facts is down to their own ignorance. This is of course down to indoctrination of themselves, which is not really

They are desperately trying to get the media to talk about something other than the incompetence of the PM and chancellor.
I'm looking forward to the reaction to the Denmark model 🍿 😁
