Does it come with an otter or do you have to lure one for yourself?

I'm not otterly sure...

LittleJustice · 15/11/2025 15:08

I like it. The Yorkshire one, whilst gorgeous, is a bit ridiculously big. This is a more manageable size. I could imagine living there quite happily.

Not2identifying · 15/11/2025 15:31

I think it's beautiful. Won't be entering the raffle though.

I'm up for Arvon-style that you don't have to take out a mortgage to attend - will you do Mumsnet mate's rates?! (I also really want to meet an otter, as per my previous post...)

Absolutely. And even more special ones for attendees who are accompanied by an otter.

How much do you think you would end up paying once Rachel from Accounts brings in her so called "mansion" tax?

madaboutpurple · 15/11/2025 16:19

All that is needed is for that lake to be a bit fuller and that house would be flooded ,it seems most of the houses offered have major issues. That is how the company can buy the houses most likely.

I really like this one, I'd probably sell it, 2.5 - 3 million would sort all the kids out and ensure a lovely financially worry free retirement for me and DH.

I could be tempted to keep this one for a couple of years, run it as a holiday let for most of the year, and keep a few weeks for family and friends to stay in it. As long as it paid for itself, with maybe a bit of profit, I'd be happy.

I like the layout, and with 5 bedrooms there's enough room for the whole family to stay. All with en-suites means no arguing over who has the best room.

TBH, I'd love to live there, but it seems selfish when my kids are struggling to buy a small house.

DailyMaui · 15/11/2025 16:54

That house is bloody gorgeous and I love the lake. Bet it looks wonderful on misty mornings. The garden is fab too - very nice planting. The views from the living area into the garden are so lovely. I can easily imagine myself having a sauna, cooling off in the hot tub then sitting all wrapped up in front of the fire pit drinking a nice New Zealand white and chatting with my new otter friends.

BuyingButterAndSatinSandals · 15/11/2025 18:03

Did somebody say otters?! Sold! It may also mean that an otteroholic young adult DC may visit home more often than currently...

Or rather it would do if I hadn't just cancelled my subscription! I just got fed up with not winning anything and fed up with Omaze for putting the subscription price up by 25%. It had started to seem like a waste of money. I liked the charitable aspect but I can still do that in other ways.

Good luck to everyone entering!

Misogynistic twat

Perfect for us. Couple of hours away, right on the water for paddling, we have plenty of friends and family who would use it.
We would definitely keep it as long as it paid for its self.
