I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, after a bit of a lie in snuggled up with boy cat 😊. They've both been fed & probably gone back to bed with dd1 since she's back for the weekend again.

The washer's on with school shirts and I've run some water to wash up - I'll shift and do that once I've drunk my brew. Then I'll tidy my corner of the table - I've got lots of things in a pile, and peg dolls all drawn up ready to paint. I'll put the things where they go & dolls in the "in progress" box for the moment.

Dd2's up! She needs to tidy her bedroom today, and revise for mocks next week. She also has a proper exam to prep for - I'm not sure if that's on Tuesday 🤔...must double check!

I'm off to see Role Model in Leeds with dd1 - she's decided she wants to queue, even though there's very slim chance of a barricade or front few rows spot <sigh>. So, my plans are to get a number & sit with a refillable coffee, in Spoons, in Leeds while she sits on the streets with the other queue-ers 🤣. Might even treat myself to a glass of wine!

Tea tonight for us will either be Spoons food (again - we were at a gig & called into one in Sheffield to eat), or Wingstop. Dd2 & their dad will get some sort of takeaway - probably pizza or kebab.

We'll be in late, so it'll be straight to bed for me! The girls will probably chat in dd1's room for a while after I'm asleep 😊.

What about all of you? 🙂

garden is a November jungle but the birds and squirrels seem to like it

Morning,

Off Christmas shopping today with my mum 😊🎄

QueenStevie · 08/11/2025 09:36

I am having a coffee before going for a shower. Then I'm off to brunch with some friends and DD is coming home from uni for the weekend so I am looking forward to seeing her. In view of her being home, we will probably get a takeaway tonight.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 08/11/2025 09:38

Good morning Lucysmam and others. You are quite the concert goer! I have had two coffees and a cuppa with a buttered roll. I've showered and the bed is stripped. I'm out soon for second breakfast with a friend, after which I'll nip to Aldi for bread and milk then put on the washing machine and empty the dishwasher etc. Have a good day all

Financial · 08/11/2025 09:39

I’m sitting outside engulfed in a fur throw drinking coffee.
Heading to the gym shortly and then out for lunch.
Home for an evening in with wine and nibbles watching fireworks from the window

vodkaredbullgirl · 08/11/2025 09:39

Getting ready to go to London, all expenses paid for. Going to the festival of remembrance at the Royal Albert hall.

DilemmaDelilah · 08/11/2025 09:44

Good morning @lucysmam and everybody.

it's my birthday! I have had my breakfast in bed and I'm about to have another snooze. I have opened Mr Dilemma's present, a very pretty little hand made gold ring with a green stone, and my cards. He is busy getting everything ready for my birthday lunch. He will pick up local daughter and her family later and bring them over for that.

Apart from giving the family bathroom a swish round before I go downstairs I will be a lady of leisure today. I will open the presents from my daughters at lunchtime and enjoy being a VIP

FoxRedPuppy · 08/11/2025 09:45

I’m sitting outside our campervan in North Yorkshire with a coffee. It will be a walk soon, followed by late pub lunch.

PermanentTemporary · 08/11/2025 09:46

Morning all! Sounds like a plan @lucysmam, hope the gig is good.

I’m in bed with a coffee listening to dp having his post run shower in our brand new lovely bathroom. I always felt guilty that he left his wonderful shower to move in with me with a dodgy over bath shower that didn’t work properly, so it’s satisfying that he now has a good one.

I’ll be getting up shortly to go and see my Mum in the nursing home. Then home and will repot a shrub, and then Dp’s son is coming round. We are going to eat out together then dp and his son are going to see Inside No 9 at the theatre.

ShipshapeShore · 08/11/2025 09:51

I need to write a to-do list. I know I need to do loads of washing and the house has a sense of needing a clean but that's a bit vague for me.

Hopefully having a walk up to the village pub this afternoon and then steak for dinner. Don't normally have it due to cost but I wanted to do something nice for DH.

Thislittlekitten · 08/11/2025 09:53

Morning @lucysmam and the gang.

Happy Birthday @DilemmaDelilah I always love hearing about your day.

Today has been declared a lazy day. Everyone including the kids have had a tough week. I actually think this is our only free weekend day until
Christmas

I am about to take the dog for a walk and DH and DS will cook breakfast. I have been craving tattie scones week. DD still asleep. Dcats asleep.

Rest of the day will be reading, checking football scores and kids can game and play a boards game too.

Not sure about tea yet.

Enjoy your Saturday everyone.

FullOfMomsense · 08/11/2025 09:54

A very slow day, I couldn't sleep last night which is very unlike me so DH and his sister are taking the kids out for the day and I'm having a day in bed with coffee, snacks, catalogues for Christmas presents and some trashy tv.
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

Myblueclematis · 08/11/2025 09:55

Been up since just after 7.30, put one big load of washing out as today is going to be the only day with sunshine for the next ten or so days. Bet it won't dry properly though as there is no wind.

Meeting my friend at lunchtime and we're going into town, wander around the shops (what's left of them), have a coffee somewhere so we can sit and chat as I have big news regarding a family member and will fill her in on what's happened.

Might buy a plant from the plant man to put in a small robin shaped basket planter to sit on the front doorstep. Was thinking maybe a white cyclamen.

Upthenorth · 08/11/2025 09:56

Tween sleepover last night, trampoline party today… send me strength. 😅

  • Edit to add they got up at 5am and the last question I had from them was 11pm.
lucysmam · 08/11/2025 09:58

@frozendaisy noooo...unfortunately nowhere near! There are a handful of very small indie artists we follow - last night was one of them.

Dd1 once said to me something along the lines of; you know what's really sad? When you die, and I die, there's music we haven't heard, and artists we haven't discovered yet. So we're merrily taking in as much as we can!

Dd2 messaged me a gig she'd like to go to while we were out but it's in a pub so I need to find out if it's an 18+ gig.

Dropping off a frozen lasagne to my parents to defrost and cook for dinner tomorrow then I’m going to the theatre for the matinee performance and then going for dinner afterwards, back home to watch strictly.

lucysmam · 08/11/2025 10:10

@DilemmaDelilah happiest of birthdays to you! Your ring sounds really very nice. Enjoy your VIP day 😊.

Good morning everyone and happy birthday @DilemmaDelilahI hope you have a lovely day.

As is usual in our house I was up early and dh has gone to work. I’ve put the Tesco delivery away, emptied the dishwasher, decided it was filthy so scrubbed it and put it on again empty with dishwasher cleaner in as it was desperately needed.

Dd11 has just got up and is eating breakfast and dd18 who is home for the weekend (yay!) is still asleep. I have no real plans for the day, I need to hoover and dust and make a start on the huge pile of washing but that’s it. Dd11 is going to her friends around 2pm for a sleepover - the one she was meant to have last weekend but her friend was ill. Lasagne and salad for tea and then ds24 and his boyfriend are coming round for the evening for a wine night and to see dd18 and I’m not sure if dh is joining us or going out - probably depends on our choice of film.

I might suggest FaceTiming dd21 for a while tonight as she messaged last night after I was asleep saying she felt homesick all day yesterday, bless her. I’ve messaged her back this morning but she’s not seen it yet. I’m not sure whether a FaceTime with us all will make her feel better or worse though so I’ll see what she says. It’s difficult to get to see her as she lives 2 hours away and works most weekends and dh and I work through the week so we’ve not seen her since she came on holiday with us in July 😢.

Well a week and a day after my wife's funeral, and it doesn't get easier, just cleaning and washing like she used to do on a Saturday

PermanentTemporary · 08/11/2025 10:26

@glimmer69 im so sorry. Is there anything you can do today that’s enjoyable? That post-funeral patch is awful.

Well re grouting the bathroom floor as we had a walk in shower fitted as she agreed that she was struggling with having a bath. Unfortunately it was fitted a week after she passed. So I'm doing the bathroom up now in her honour.

RibenaCocktail · 08/11/2025 10:30

I’ve got my bridal make up trial in 30 mins. But I’m struggling mentally today and can’t seem to get myself ready to leave the house. It’s been a really tough week.

Later on we are going around delivering some of our wedding invites, but again, I’m just not feeling up to the social aspect of it and being all smiley and chatty.

meant to be meeting friends for dinner tonight but I just want to curl in bed with D Fiance and watch a film.

god what a misery am I 😂

Itworkedout · 08/11/2025 10:36

Slow lazy morning here, not feeling 100% I need to drop my youngest off for sports in a bit. Also going to do a food shop and head to town. Which I could do without but never mind. I need to tidy and clean the house a bit to. Quick and easy Mexican bowls for tea tonight. Have a good day all!

Giggorata · 08/11/2025 10:37

Good morning, lucysmam and all, and happy birthday to DilemmaDelilah.

Something is wrong with our oil boiler and we are working out how to switch off the oil feed (neither of us is very practical), as there is a strong smell. The boiler man said he'll be out when he can but it looks like days.🙁

Thank goodness for the wood burning stove, which has been fixed up by magic to do the radiators in unison with the boiler. We've just had a new chimney liner put in last week; good timing or what?

So the usual laundry and some housework today, slowly, as I am quite achey today, then an afternoon on the sofa with the latest Phil Rickman, a present from my son.

Yesterday was a kitchen day, when I used all the vegetables from the veg box DH bought, as well as the last of the Cinderella coach sized pumpkin, and made a huge roast pheasant and lamb dinner, with potatoes, cabbage, carrots, parsnips, sweet potatoes and pumpkin, plus a huge apple and pumpkin crumble, with some apples given by a neighbour. I also roasted the pumpkin seeds, with salt.
We have loads left over for today's dinner.
I felt very productive and Autumnal, what with all the seasonal food and cinnamon smells. The pheasants were given to us by another neighbour, people are so nice!
