What lovely thing has your son or daughter done for you this week?

(here to balance out some of the negative (especially negative about boys and men) posts)).

I have been suffering with an eczema flare up this week. I have never had to take a day off work for this but had to this week as it was so bad.

My lovely 19 year old son saw me suffering, sat with me, hugged me, messaged me advise he found on the interest, told me to see the GP (I did) and sent off for some cream to help ('Rescue Balm' and it is helping)!

What lovely things has your son or daughter done for you this week?

Wishing you all a good weekend MNers. 💕

My 7 year old wrote me a card that said “I miss you when you go to work”

My 4 year old daughter offered me her last Haribo sweet.

My partner gave me a back and neck massage for 40 minutes without trying to get his leg over!

I’m at work and have just finished my packed lunch that DS made for me( vegetable pie leftovers ) from the meal he cooked last night, using a new recipe from a book bought for him by his brother. His brother got the book for him as he knows he’s been feeling low, and is trying to encourage him to pick up new interests.
They are both lovely, to each other and to me.

My 18-year-old was filling in his holiday request form for next year last night and he requested my birthday off, completely unprompted, so we can do something nice together

My DS12 brought me a surprise cup of tea in bed for no reason. Made my day.

My son offered me his torn fingernail to trim with my teeth, didn't slap me when i brushed his teeth, and helped clean up his own wee from the carpet.

Catpiece · 07/11/2025 13:11

My son rang me this morning on his way into work and said come over tomorrow to see the baby (5 months and I love him so much) and have a cup of tea ❤️

Everyday, my 20 year old ds ds hugs me and tells me that he loves me. I love the bones of him.

Blingismything · 07/11/2025 16:30

My youngest facetimed me from the other side of the world as there were some dogs playing on the beach she thought I’d like to see.

Ds started college after years of struggles at secondary (likely asd but nobody listened).. He made 2 metal charms for me for Christmas... Today he has been car washing at college for charity. A lovely teen. A rare thing! With a sense of humour to be proud of too!

Bigearringsbigsmile · 07/11/2025 16:33

Mine has tidied up and hoovered. Gave me a huge hug and made me a cup of tea when I got home from a bad day at work and has just popped out to buy me chocolate.

Tryingatleast · 07/11/2025 16:34

15 and 13 year old sons were in shop after school and gave me half of the things they got ‘because you don’t get enough’. Smiles.

Buscake · 07/11/2025 16:38

My 12 year old came home from school with a wispa gold for me. I have had such a shit week (that she has no idea about) and it genuinely made me cry that someone had thought about me

My 17 year old is the same, every night. And he thanks me for every meal without fail.
He's just hoovered the whole house whilst I was at the shops today.
He's an absolute pleasure to live with and parent ❤️

MeNotMyselfAndI · 07/11/2025 16:52

My 16 yr old saw me struggling to bring all my stuff in from the car after a long week at work and came out and helped me carry it all in. Both my boys are absolute treasures - I couldn’t ask for lovelier teens ❤️.

DS13 made me an ice coffee and brought it to my desk while I was working and absent-mindedly kissed the top of my head and wandered off back to the PS5.

DS9 went to the shop with Grandad and asked him to get me a treat because he 'had no money on him' 😅I did very well out of that one cos GD was so touched.I think he had like a mars bar in mind, but I ended up with a magazine, an ice cream and a bottle of wine lol.

Also, this will go down like a lead balloon, but I'm having a shit time with my boss at the mo and DS9 caught me having a little cry.

'Where does she live? I'll go give HER something to cry about!'

Yes yes,I know...but it was very appreciated in that moment!

Loving all these posts. My own DS is 48. We live in his house (we’re between houses atm) and every morning he greets me with a huge hug and every night he makes me camomile tea in a little teapot.he bought just for me. He’s absolutely lovely and I often think “well, I got something right”

Nat6999 · 29/11/2025 23:45

My 21 year old ds & his partner have helped me when my mum was sent home from hospital to get her on & off the commode as I had been told by the carers not to do it alone, ds walked out of a lecture at university to come & help me as I couldn't get hold of my brother, he also helped me get her cleaned up when she didn't make it in time. He also stayed to support me when we had to ring 999 to get her readmitted less than 36 hours later & went with her in the ambulance to the hospital. He's also helped me with household jobs like taking out all the rubbish, unpacking the shopping & anything else I have needed him to do, I couldn't wish for a better son & son in law.

tragichero · 29/11/2025 23:52

She is at her dad's, doing her Xmas shopping on line today and messaged me to ask which books in a manga series I collect I don't have yet. It's such a brilliant gift and really thoughtful of her (I mean, I realise I haven't actually received it yet. I will be gutted on the day if she gives me a box of Dairy Milk, tho of course I will still smile politely and say thanks!).

Ikeatears · 29/11/2025 23:58

Dsd (in her 30s) humoured me today and let me play Christmas music, drank hot chocolate with me and helped me to put up the tree as dh was at work and my 3 ds’ have no interest whatsoever in helping! In fairness, my oldest ds (23) had taken her dd out for the afternoon to have some uncle/niece time so she was at a loose end but she could have gone home and put her feet up but instead she helped me get my Christmas on!!

Iamalltheyhavenow · 30/11/2025 00:18

Eldest DS has called me every day, since he thought I sounded unwell when I saw him on Tuesday, to check I am OK, and ask if there is anything he can bring. I have a humdinger of cold and so appreciated the thought. I have felt wiped out, and his cheery voice has been an absolute tonic. Love you J x

NormasArse · 30/11/2025 00:22

I have spoken to all three of my (adult) children today!

They all phoned me. That was lovely ☺️.

IndigoIsMyFavouriteColour · 30/11/2025 00:24

Both my teenage sons have given me hugs this week (prompted but still) and today my oldest gathered all the socks from their room and brought them down to be washed after a conversation between me and their dad about where all the socks have gone. Little things but made me smile

WanderlustMom · 30/11/2025 10:44

My 5 year DS had surgery a couple of weeks ago - had a very traumatic hospital stay and one thing he’s scared about is blood pressure monitoring (no idea why, that’s just the one thing that scares him)

He came with me to my midwife appointment as he’s been off school and when he saw I had to have my blood pressure checked he immediately started stroking my face, telling me to do deep breaths with him and saying “it’s okay mommy, you’re such a brave girl” 😁 he thought I was scared like he is.

He also tells me every day that I’m the ’best mommy in the world’, attempts to make my bed in the morning for me as a surprise, makes me (warm 🤣) glasses of water when I’m feeling a bit nauseous, tells me that I’m doing a ‘good job growing baby sister’ he’s just adorable 24/7!

samlovesdilys · 30/11/2025 17:50

DS21 has messaged every day this week, knows I’m feeling crap with radiotherapy and keeps sending me love and pictures of dogs!
