Very Important Question About Crisps With Exciting Poll

CharliesAngles · 07/11/2025 11:49

Here we go, a bit of excitement for you all on a gloomy Friday.

What colour packet should Cheese and Onion crisps be in?

*Disclaimer - these are the regular size packets, often bought in a big with multiple flavours.

My favourite C&O crisps is Golden Wonder and I think they've got it right ✅️

i knew the Tayto wars would hit this thread. I'm out.

(pp mentioned Lancashire sauce? what abomination is that?)
But while i'm on the subject: Sheffield Hendo's Crisp things are clearly the best.

Bonus Question - In your opinion, who does the best Cheese and Onion crisps?

Tayto & they also have the best Smokey Bavon flavour.

Damn. Noticed the Lineker typo too late to edit.

No worries, I have just only noticed the typo in my OP!

*Bag NOT big.

Sorry people

All crisps should be in transparent packets, so that you can see how few crisps there are inside before purchase.

PastaAllaNorma · 07/11/2025 15:53

Crisp packets are emptier - they used to be one ounce, 28g, but they've been 25g since 2019. that's a 10% crisp reduction, the rotters.

Red and blue with a nice band of white in the middle (no.6 is a travesty) - the tricolour of the crisp world.

Although, there are crisps and there are Tayto so maybe I’ve answered the wrong question?

I am old enough to remember pack no.1.

i think because we all used to eat Smith's crisps and they were green. I'm not sure when Walker's appeared, but they're Lays over here in Germany, which AFAIK is a US brand?

That must be it. I must have been buying either Golden Wonder or Smiths.

I remember buying Frito Lays in the US when were there, many years ago. I didn't like them. Much prefer the ordinary UK basic crisps.

CharliesAngles · 07/11/2025 18:56

Green is leading the poll.
I hope Walkers is reading this 😄

Have you eaten a bag of Monster Munch lately.
You literally get about 6 monsters 😂

It is so dissapointing, we buy multipack beef occasionally and it is basically air and 2 monsters and dust !

CluelessAboutBiology · 07/11/2025 23:23

Admittedly I haven’t eaten crisps since 1988, but “in my day” it was:
red - ready salted
blue - salt and vinegar
green - cheese and onion

zazazaaarmm · 07/11/2025 23:27

KrystalStubbs · 07/11/2025 12:10

I am old enough to remember when we had only one flavour of crisps (with the salt in a little twist of blue paper). Then the excitement of cheese and onion crisps in the shops in green packets. So green will always be the correct colour and to this day it still confuses me if they're in a blue bag. Aldi's are the best everyday crisps - their prawn cocktail ones are fab too.

Oh absolutely. And the salt would always land on one crisp and cut your mouth up even if you shaked loads.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/11/2025 23:39

Of your options, for bog standard crisps obviously cheese and onion should be green.

But the best ones are Fiddlers Lancashire crisps, which are even more sensibly in a golden yellow packet.

thetruthshallsetyoufreebutfirstitwillpissyouoff · 08/11/2025 08:15

Gold. As C&O is a far superior crisp flavour.

Asda own brand is the best.

NikkiPotnick · 08/11/2025 08:17

I voted blue initially but have been persuaded by the clarity of the green arguments to change over.

x2boys · 08/11/2025 08:43

I found Tayto in home bargains once and they were indeed very good ,however not being in Ireland it was a rare find so imo the best cheese and onion flavour would have to be Golden wonder or smiths
Seabrook are nice too but I find their flavours very hit and miss some bags are very flavoursome, and some dont seem to taste of anything
And Cheese and onion should be in Green bags

CalzoneOnLegs · 08/11/2025 08:46

MildlyAnnoyed · 07/11/2025 11:58

Aldi do an amazing cheese & onion crisp in the specially selected range

Yes agree with this, so much flavour, ideal with 🍷 these are the hand cooked variety.

CalzoneOnLegs · 08/11/2025 08:48

@Coffeeishot ive been reliably told that the ‘Monster Claws’ in Lidl are superior, this is certainly true about their ‘Wotsit’ copies

CharliesAngles · 07/11/2025 11:50

Bonus Question - In your opinion, who does the best Cheese and Onion crisps?

Tautology - there are no good C&O crisps. The best ones are salt and vinegar.
