Do you use for scrambled eggs per person? 8 year old DS just had 4 with toast which feels like a lot and claimed to still be starving

Light hearted. Just out of interest. I'm not depriving my child of eggs or food I promise Grin

We had 4 eggs between two adults for lunch today, with 2 slices of toast each seemed enough, sometimes l do 3 eggs each if we really hungry.

goudacheese · 04/11/2025 18:14

I normally do 3 eggs for one person or 5-6 for 2 people. 4 is fine too if you're hungry.

TheFlis · 04/11/2025 18:15

i made scrambled eggs for me and DH yesterday and used 6 eggs.

Runningismyhappyplace50 · 04/11/2025 18:16

3 eggs if just for 1 but 2 would be fine for me.

AuntyBulgaria · 04/11/2025 18:18

Two eggs per person is plenty. Otherwise just too much egg!

ShesTheAlbatross · 04/11/2025 18:18

Two large eggs on two slices of toast for me.

AnAudacityofinlaws · 04/11/2025 18:20

Two whole eggs and two egg whites for one person.

TrousersOfTime · 04/11/2025 18:21

3 or 4 usually. Depending on how hungry I am

Blanketfull · 04/11/2025 18:22

Like everything portions have got much bigger. When I was a child two eggs each (in any form) was extravagant, now teen DS would use between 4 &6. For me, I think 3 is a good helping.

gingercat02 · 04/11/2025 18:23

I do 3 if just SE on toast, 2 if I have beans or mushrooms

DramaAlpaca · 04/11/2025 18:25

I use two eggs.

TheRocksStoppedRolling · 04/11/2025 18:28

I don’t eat eggs but when my partner or kids have scrambled eggs, they mix the eggs with tofu and find it more filling.

NotDelia · 04/11/2025 18:42

small eggs , ds6 eats two or three
large eggs max 2

Weirdly if I make omelette we seem to need more eggs than if I boil or fry !

7catsisnotenough · 04/11/2025 18:47

4/5 for DH with 2 slices of toast as his main meal (works weird hours so doesn't want anything "heavy" but needs a decent amount!)

HelloCharming · 04/11/2025 19:08

2 eggs and 1 toast. Otherwise as PP said, it’s too eggy.

Esssa · 04/11/2025 19:09

I do a dozen for my 2 and 4 year old to share. But they are quail eggs, we keep birds. It's 3-4 quail eggs to a chicken egg so they are basically sharing 2.5-3 chicken eggs. My nephew is 8, eats more than his mum does. 4 sounds fine.

SnowSnow · 04/11/2025 19:12

We have our own chickens so don’t have to worry about the cost of the eggs or running out. I usually do 5 eggs total for me, DH and 2yo

HarryVanderspeigle · 04/11/2025 19:46

2 eggs, 2 toast, grind of pepper, blob of sour cream.

TamarindCottage · 04/11/2025 19:49

5 eggs for two adults is perfect - 4 eggs for two people always leaves me hungry

JDM625 · 04/11/2025 19:59

Depends if medium or large eggs. I often add fresh tomato, spring onions, cheese and or some bacon/ham so 2-3 eggs each for DH and myself is enough. I find it really filling so often give him a larger serve.

shhblackbag · 04/11/2025 20:00

2 normally. 3 if I'm really hungry.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 04/11/2025 22:38

3, 1 slice of toast

pottylolly · 05/11/2025 11:36

I give DS (nearly 6) 3-4 eggs for scrambled eggs but that’s because he doesn’t eat them with toast

Comefromaway · 05/11/2025 11:39

I use two for me for breakfast. If I was having them for lunch I would either have three or add baked beans to it.

Four for an 8 year old is a lot!

LostThestral · 05/11/2025 11:41

I usually do 6 eggs for 2 adults & that's really decent sized portion
