Have you done anything constructive today?

Day off work.
Feels like I haven't got much done but have actually made tonight's dinner (Cauliflower cheese and a baked (airfryer) gammon joint). And two loads of laundry and shifted a couple of bags of outgrown clothes from DCs drawers.

Need to book a few appointments and do an online shop before school pick up.

What have you been up to?

That sounds productive! I’m at work today but was up early for PT. He postponed until after work so I made a seven layer cake and then tidied the kitchen!
Currently having a pedicure in my lunch break. Meetings from 2pm then leaving promptly at 5 for PT.

NecklessMumster · 04/11/2025 13:12

I feel like I haven't, as I'm coping with endless bloody pain from a dry socket post tooth extraction. Doing things is distracting from the pain but I'm also tired. I've prepared a lasagne from scratch, done 2 loads of laundry, tidied up and a bit of pre packing as meant to go away for 2 days tomorrow

LuigiGhostDog · 04/11/2025 13:21

Kids went back to school today and I’m on day 2 of 12 days annual leave, very much just enjoying the peace and quiet, I’ll be productive tomorrow… maybe.

curly100 · 04/11/2025 13:31

I'm working but as I'm self employed productivity varies as usual. I've been to collect the takings from a community group I'm involved in and will need to count and record them later. Don't think there's enough to necessitate a trip to the bank.

I went to get a photo I needed to complete online applications and have submitted those.

Dealt with various admin and waiting to hear from a consultant whether/when he can meet me this later afternoon. Need to find some oomph to achieve something productive in the meantime...

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · 04/11/2025 13:33

Just having lunch, been working on getting the garden winter ready for the last 4 hours, in lovely sunshine 🌞

MrsAvocet · 04/11/2025 13:43

I'm retired. Stuck in the house today. The weather here is awful and lots of the local roads are flooded. The most productive thing I've done today is contact all the members of the sports club I'm secretary for to let them know that tonight's session is cancelled. I'm now trying to motivate myself to clean the bathroom and trying to resist eating biscuits.

devildeepbluesea · 04/11/2025 13:44

I work FT. Been completely unproductive today, just moping around thinking about how done I am with working and how much I LOATHE this time of year.

Peridot1 · 04/11/2025 13:49

I have half cleaned the kitchen - will finish shortly. Need to vacuum the ground floor - our neighbours’ hairy dog was over at the weekend while I was away and I’m spotting hair everywhere.

The cushions from our outdoor furniture are in the dining area and I want to get them stored properly in the shed today for winter.

I have done two loads of laundry and hung it up.

That might be it for the day.

FamilyPhoto · 04/11/2025 13:53

Day off but looking after a post surgery family member. Ive had a good old potter about and done the one off jobs that always seem to get missed - skirting boards, silver cleaning, sorting out the junk draw ect plus some life admin stuff. Feeling virtuous now😇 so going to reward myself with a hot chocolate and an hours reading.

BigJanette · 04/11/2025 13:55

@MrsAvocet oh no, that doesn't sound good. Where are you? We've got mild dry weather here in the SE and the sun's out hence the two loads of laundry.
I really need to mow the lawn but it's just been so damp so am hoping by the time I come back from the school run, it has dried out enough to cut.

@NecklessMumster hope you feel better soon 💐

@randoname 7 layer sounds amazing!

Not as much as I would have liked, but woke up with a UTI and am feeling a bit grim. Tidied up a bit, did a load of laundry and made a ratatouille for tonight, currently in the slow cooker.

Have now walked into town and having a cheeky little cheeseburger and small fries in McDonald's while I wait for my pharmacist appointment to hopefully get some antibiotics. After that, going to work until 7, put DD to bed and finish off/eat the ratatouille (I poach fish in it with a sprinkle of feta on top).

FeyreandRhysand · 04/11/2025 14:01

Wrapped all the Christmas presents! Only a few left to buy and will wrap those as I go.

Two loads of laundry and now trying to get my head around needing to complete my first self assessment.

FourChimneys · 04/11/2025 14:03

We have had a plumber here this morning, needing access to the cupboard under the kitchen sink. So all the bottles etc cleared away onto a towel on the dining table and all put back now he's left.

I have done an hours admin for my business, a load of laundry which is now outside in the breezy sunshine, and I've cleaned the bathroom. I've done my daily Duolingo and a couple of non-work emails.

Still a few things on my to do list though.

BeMintFatball · 04/11/2025 14:10

Started the cull of DD2 wardrobe. Which meant pulling out the airing cupboard and holding each item , can this go? It’s old, it’s stained, it’s too big. DD2 laid in bed and gave the final decision. Dd has dropped two dress sizes over a long period of time. Only has a small room and can’t hold onto clothes just in case she gains weight again.

Now need to persuade someone to take a sack load to the charity shop and another for rags recycling

InMySpareTime · 04/11/2025 14:10

I cut my toenails, and put the bins out.
shovelled up a load of leaves so the bin’s reasonably full (want to get our money’s worth on the garden waste charge).
That’s plenty for today.

MostArdently · 04/11/2025 14:12

I’ve not done much to be honest! I’ve done a couple of loads of washing, got a few bits from Morrisons and put a couple of bits on Vinted. Just need to make some pizza dough for tea before I go and collect the kids from school.

Nellieinthebarn · 04/11/2025 14:23

I haven't done much, but I have cooked and eaten dinner. One of the many joys of retirement is that we can eat our main meal in the middle of the day if we want.

I have also reorganised the freezer so I can have a dedicated Christmas drawer. Each main food group now has its designated place, and there is now a diagram stuck on the outside of the freezer showing where things can be 1) found and 2) put away again. I am hoping this will reduce the ''3 half used bags of peas'' problem.

RosesAndHellebores · 04/11/2025 14:28

semi retired.
put in and hung a load of washing to dry.
watched an episode of a series I’m watching
went to the dentist
did 1.5 hours of work catch-up
sitting at garage waiting for a car key to be programmed

to do when I get home - polish and dust inside and out of a large china cabinet and wash the dinner service and glasses.
cook dinner

work tomorrow

Peridot1 · 04/11/2025 14:29

Outdoor furniture cushions are now put into shed - DH helped. I have done the vacuuming and finished cleaning the kitchen surfaces.

@Nellieinthebarn - that sounds like a good plan for the freezer. DH occasionally does that with ours. Then it all gets filled up again and I just shove stuff where it fits.

MYOB12 · 04/11/2025 14:30

Day off work also. I’ve been to the gym, done a washload, off out tonight. Feet up in between. So very productive day!

EmeraldRoulette · 04/11/2025 14:34

@BigJanette you've done a lot more than I have.

MonkeyPuddle · 04/11/2025 14:34

Semi productive for me, day off, in between the school runs.
Stuck a curry in the slow cooker, put away a weeks worth of washing, did two more loads (not put away), put a new rug down, changed the kids beds, picked up an order from Argos, went to the tip, now sat with my feet up before I go to school.
Will take DS to the barbers on the way home

BigJanette · 04/11/2025 14:37

Update - I've mowed the still very damp lawn!
Thought I'd better tackle it before my resolve went, and as soon as I had finished, I could hear a neighbour doing theirs 😄
Feel lots better as it really needed doing but just couldn't time the weather right.
Not feeling confident it will be the last mow of the season though...

I look 2 large bin bags of clutter to the charity bin.

Nellieinthebarn · 04/11/2025 14:44

@Peridot1 😂Oh it won't last! But for a while it will be an ode to organisation.
