Panorama doctored Trumps ‘Capitol’ speech?

GoldThumb · 03/11/2025 21:15

According to the Telegraph, Panorama doctored Trumps speech.

They showed him saying ‘We’re going to walk down to the Capitol, and I’ll be there with you. And we fight. We fight like hell’

The actual speech was ‘We’re going to walk down to the Capitol, and we’re gonna cheer on our brave senators and congressmen and women’

A few months ago, it was also reported by the telegraph that the BBC mistranslated ‘Jihad against the Jews’ to ‘resisting Israeli forces’

What is going on at the BBC? Why are we paying a licence fee for this shit?

Awful if true but not surprising , the BBC have took a nosedive in impartiality in the last 15 years and hate anything slightly right leaning

BellissimoGecko · 03/11/2025 21:21

Surely not. This was widely reported across all press, not just the BBC. And if it’s true, why has it taken so long to come to light?

I’m reading that Michael Prescott, a former BBC standards advisor, raised concerns at the time, was dismissed, and has now blown the whistle.

Edit: Apparently the ‘we fight like hell’ line came over 50 minutes later.

Ah yes, the Torygraph, owned by tax dodging billionaires, that famously impartial source. It's especially well known for loving public service broadcasting and absolutely hasn't got any fish to fry there. Sounds legit OP!

You don’t have to pay a licence fee for the Telegraph, though, do you?

This is beyond political slant and bias, and is outright fabrication

AzurePanda · 03/11/2025 21:37

The revelations are shocking, and not just about the Capitol.

elprup · 03/11/2025 21:46

That is appalling if true. Surely the speech is available to watch online and so whether this did or didn’t happen is easily verifiable?

cottonwoolie · 03/11/2025 21:56

Wow, I'm actually shocked if this is true.

cottonwoolie · 03/11/2025 21:57

They absolutely should not be doing this.

Fishingboatbobbingnight · 03/11/2025 21:58

complete bollox

38thparallel · 03/11/2025 22:02

@Fishingboatbobbingnight what is complete bollocks?
The BBC doctoring Trump’s speech or the Telegraph’s reporting on it?

Shudacudawuda · 03/11/2025 22:06

The story is trending on social media at the moment, it does look like its true.
Pretty shocking stuff, but I haven't trusted the BBC for years now due to their pro trans anti woman bias.
This is really something else though, to deliberately edit the video that way and on Panorama too!

Shudacudawuda · 03/11/2025 22:11

This shows what was done, wow 😲

GoldThumb · 03/11/2025 22:11

This is a video from 4 years ago, from NBC news.

It’s just a clip of the speech, but it clearly shows what the telegraph are reporting is true.

Clearly says we are gonna walk down to the capitol and cheer on….

There are clearly some posters who don’t give a shit what the BBC fabricate.

Oh, so he did actually say it then, just later on.

Maybe Panorama, in its collective wisdom, decided that the British public need not be subjected to the intervening 50 minutes of Trump's incoherent ramblings and cut that bit out.

That’s your takeaway? Interesting

That’s exactly how I feel about them.

Their reporting on certain subjects bear absolutely no resemblance to reality.

But it’s interesting to see who’s interested in factual reporting, and who doesn’t care, simply because they dislike Trump, or because it’s reported by an ‘unapproved source’ 🙄

What the hell? The bbc have form for doctoring footage, there was that weird business with them using different footage of Boris Johnson at Remembrance Sunday. In the original he’d laid the wreath wrongly so they used footage from another year.

What is incoherent about going down to cheer on Senators and Congress men and women?

Do you not understand that their cutting out gave the exact opposite message to people who are still to this day accusing him of rallying the crowds up for an insurrection? Seems like the exact opposite was true.

ghostliness · 03/11/2025 23:22

I can well believe this. I have personal experience of the BBC cutting room bias. A business I was working at was interviewed to give one side of a debate. The actual report showed a lengthy article on the other side of the debate and literally half of one sentence from our side, which had been cut so as to look like we supported the other side of the argument. It was to do with Government tax policy. Prior to this I had a naive feeling that the BBC although biased to the left was largely fair. I now understand it feeds us complete lies to suit its own agenda.

I often read on here 'BBC link not Daily Fail so you can trust it'. You really can't.

giveyourselfapresent · 03/11/2025 23:46

Of course it's true, and they do it all the time. This has been extensively covered by various people on X (which, of course, we're not meant to use because ooooh, Elon bad). And it's not just the BBC.

I lost all faith in the BBC some time ago and as for BBC Verify, what an embarrassment.

hiui · 04/11/2025 07:57

there’s another thread running where people discuss their favourite place to get news. Many said the BBC.
God help us.

Surely it wasn’t just the BBC who reported on it? What did the Telegraph report at the time?
