What are AirBnB guests up to…?

We have a self contained annex on our property and have been running an AirBnB. Two youngish men checked into today. I’d say late twenties or early 30s.

We live centrally in a lively city so normally guests check in and are out for most of the evening at the theatre or having a meal or attending a concert etc.

Today’s young men checked into at around 3 pm and since then they’ve left the flat 5 times, each for around 20 minutes a time. I only know this as we have an external ring camera at the edge of the property. What could they possibly be doing..? I can understand popping out for a food run or beer run. But 5 times…?

Also why check into an Airbnb and pay a premium to stay in a central location and not go out…!?!

Omg it's like these posters have never seen how a ring camera triggers your phone! Of course it's not creepy or weird to be slightly curious. Dear God, 20 years ago this would've been an amusing thread now it's outrage and snappiness.

Times have changed and us oldies need to move with the times not hold on to outmoded behaviours and beliefs.

AzurePanda · 26/10/2025 08:47

Agree the outrage is very odd. We rent out 2 cottages behind us and of course we notice comings and goings and food deliveries etc. also notice when our ring doorbell is triggered by people walking past.

Can't be worse than someone I know who spotted his AirBnB residents focussing their high velocity rifle with night sight on the neighbours windows.

Bloody hell!

If you are not comfortable with guests pleasing themselves what they do and when, then why on earth run an Airbnb? Loud all night parties I can accept, but not just coming and going. Put up or shut up as they say.

They might stay in if they were pleasing themselves. 🤷‍♀️

mindutopia · 26/10/2025 08:53

If they were actually coming there to go out for a night, most clubs don’t get going until after 11/midnight, so I’d assume they are getting ready, getting stuff from shops, food, going for a smoke/vape on the way. And then will go out out later.

Alternatively, when I stay in an Airbnb (I’m boring) it’s usually because I have somewhere early to be the next day (christening, wedding, weekend training workshop). So I’d probably run to the shop and then run out to get some food, but I’d look like I was just sitting inside all night being a weirdo. Because I’m getting ready for my busy day tomorrow.

You need to get a life and some fresh air OP (they're probably shagging and watching Netflix).

ToeJob · 26/10/2025 09:07

Grindr. They’re nipping out for a nosh.

It's not outmoded to have a sense of humor!

God you sound absolutely awful. Everything about the tone of your replies on here. So up yourself. Yeuch.

Stalking people - yes yes they should have read the small print about being spied upon - just for the sake of it. Get a life.

Absolutely dreadful woman. How awful having strangers wandering around when you have children. Can’t you find some other way of making money?

TheprettiestvillageinChristendom · 26/10/2025 09:22

Also I agree with everything @GanninHyemsaid upthread.

TubeScreamer · 26/10/2025 09:28

I would assume shagging and smoking/vaping

Much better that they do that kind of thing behind closed doors, rather than out in public!

TheprettiestvillageinChristendom · 26/10/2025 09:37

Good post @NestingbirdsI very much agree with about usually not being clean enough.

We were going to use the old stables on our property as a holiday cottage but decided against because we knew people like @Possigeswould be making inane, bored observations about our lifestyle.

Ha ha ha “Our paths never cross” but you are watching their every move.

Honestly, either make the money with a bit of integrity, or don’t do it. So creepy.

DiscoBob · 26/10/2025 09:47

You shouldn't be snooping on their movements. As long as the place isn't damaged you should just ignore them.
