Is there anything I can buy .. preferably of Amazon..for sore bits .
Am going through menopause and everything is getting dry and actually thinning.
And uncomfortable .
Putting me off having sex
Really don't want to go to the doctor's.
Have name changed for this

Could it be thrush?
If not and it is just sex you are concerned about then just buy lube.
I know some people use an eostrogen gel but I don’t have experience of this.

Also ,I swim every day ,and I think the chlorine is drying me out down below,I need some moisture back .

You need estrogen cream, why not go to the GP?
If you really don't want to, you can now buy it from the pharmacy

Munchyseeds2 · 24/10/2025 14:37

Vaginal tablets have made a massive difference to me. I didn't need to show the doctor just described my symptoms and they were prescribed straight away.

You can buy the tablets online if you don't want to go to the GP. They're called Gina.

Before i started HRT my vulva would 'burn' and sting really bad when i went in chlorinated water (my DD was 4 then so i couldn't really avoid ever going swimming) it was the first symptom to resolve when i started on HRT.

butteredparsnip · 24/10/2025 14:48

I have used Yes vaginal moisturiser previously and it's really helped

MeridaBrave · 24/10/2025 14:50

You can buy Gina tablets from pharmacy. Or get it from the GP. The tablets are tiny and would not fall out. You only use 2-3 a week so use after swimming and it will dissolve before next swim.

Munchyseeds2 · 24/10/2025 14:58

Honestly....don't wait for it to get worse, buy the cream.
You don't even need to use the fiddly applicator thing

Just wipe a bit of cream in and around using your finger each night for 2 weeks, then use twice a week forever

Catpiece · 24/10/2025 15:00

Estriol cream on prescription. Life saver x

123456f · 24/10/2025 15:00

Thankyou everyone..will get some ordered
I might even do an econsult,
I'm thinking about it xx

OByes lube is good.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 24/10/2025 15:30

Vaginal estrogen is what you need, either in cream or pessary form (if pessary, you use it at night so don't worry about it falling out)
My doc was emphatic about prescribing it (I had terrible itch that wasn't thrush) and said she feels that all women should be on it until they die, regardless of whether they're on HRT. She said as well as improving comfort and confidence, it significantly reduces the risk of UTI which in older women very often leads to sepsis and then death.

Definitely give it a try, after a month you will feel much better (but you need to continue using it obviously)
