Is there anything I can buy .. preferably of Amazon..for sore bits .
Am going through menopause and everything is getting dry and actually thinning.
And uncomfortable .
Putting me off having sex
Really don't want to go to the doctor's.
Have name changed for this

I've done an econsult, and they are phoning me Monday
Can't believe I'm going to actually have to discuss this on the phone ..but it's better than in person.
You wouldn't believe I've had 4 DC ..I should be past embarrassment at my age ..it's ridiculous

No need to be embarrassed about something so ordinary as vaginal dryness. 50% of the population go through menopause, you know?! Your GP will have heard this complaint a thousand times already.

All you need to say is
'I'd like some estrogen cream pls'
Nothing to be embarrassed about

Just be aware you need to keep taking whatever is prescribed ( cream, pessaries etc) for ever.....don't be tempted to stop once it feels better! VA doesn't " get better", its just a fact of life!

TheBlueHotel · 24/10/2025 18:10

Why don't you want to go to the doctor? Perimenopause is very normal and nothing to be embarrassed about. You don't even need to mention your vagina if you don't want to! There are plenty of other symptoms to choose from

HRT, hydromol emollient to wash your bits with and Yes vaginal moisturiser (last two you can buy on Amazon and were recommended by my meno specialist ) all work wonders.

Hello
I came back to do an update, because I hate it when I try to help someone on Mumsnet and they don't come back and update .
So I did the econsult and gave as much information as possible..I asked for reply via email.
Which my doctor did ..
Yesterday I received a huge pot of hydromol cream ,to wash bits after swimming and use as moisturizer.
So fingers crossed this helps.
Thankyou everyone who took the time to reply

Did you or the doc mention estrogen OP? Hydromol might help with the outer area but it does really sound like you need estrogen for the actual problem. If it's not treated properly it will only get worse and could lead to UTIs etc. Please consider your long term health and try to get over the (unnecessary) embarrassment and ask again about estrogen.

She put in the message if things don't improve with the cream to go in for a face to face appointment.
Which I will do x

That's good. I hope you start to feel much better soon, it's a horrible thing to have to put up with.

Thanks
I recently started going in the jacuzzi after swimming and thinking about it ,that's when it started ..I thought it was thrush at first and spent a fair bit on treatments .but now I'm wondering if it's the chemicals in the jacuzzi..as a side note I end up with a sty on my eye lid literally every time I go in as well
