What!!! Is this true? Who will take over? I'm shocked!

When I read about it I think that it would appeal to me, is it too late for me to get into it? Is it on I Player? Guess I should just go and look instead of being lazy and asking you

Traitors is amazing, so so good! I was sceptical about the celeb version but so far it is very good and the bonus is it has a good calibre of "celeb".

ThePoshUns · 23/10/2025 18:32

I used to be a huge strictly fan but it does feel like it’s limping towards its demise this season and Claudia and Tess ( Neither of whom deserve the shade thrown at them here) going does feel like the nail in the coffin.
This season is really lacklustre, they lost so many good professional dancers who made the show for me and are left with some rather dull ones. It was good while it lasted but I would pull the plug if I was in charge.

the80sweregreat · 23/10/2025 18:33

Fleur East would be good. Not sure who with though !

OMG even better, you'll get to binge the first few episodes!
It's amazing. The celebs are all properly famous and the Claudia camping it up / cheese-fest is off the scale. It's also very glamorous and beautiful so while you are watching Alan Carr bitching or Mark Bonnar having a strop you're also soaking up the fabulous property porn.

Clawdy · 23/10/2025 21:11

Just seen Rosie Jones and Judi Love mentioned online. Probably just speculation though.

YourOliveBalonz · 23/10/2025 21:17

Probably too booked up at ITV, but I could see Stephen Mulhern doing it

A joke surely!

Agree! Why announce it now? Will make the rest of this series have a negative vibe!

I imagine the press got wind of it, someone leaked it or something.

Ant or Dec? They’d be great.

If you're quick you'll get the last slot at the next Edinburgh Fringe.

RedToothBrush · 23/10/2025 23:23

Honestly, it's one of those stories about celebrities that you can't put on MN.

I'd take a firm pass on the pair of them.

Christ not more Alison hammond on TV

😂Can't stand her.

DBSFstupid · 24/10/2025 00:08

LavenderBlue19 · 23/10/2025 11:33

Nooooo! I still love it, but one of the best bits is Claudia - I'll really miss her. Hopefully she's getting her own show.

I like the suggestion of Ellie Taylor as a replacement. Would prefer it stays as two women, and very much hope we don't go back to the older man/younger woman format. I bet Anton du Beke will have his eye on it.

Anton du Beak is very funny and would make a great presenter. He also knows about Dance.
I agree though. The show needs to go.

DBSFstupid · 24/10/2025 00:12

Citrusbergamia · 23/10/2025 12:17

oh god please not Alison. Am I the only one who finds her really irritating?!

Nope.

domlolreu · 24/10/2025 00:39

Alexander Armstrong and Davina would be my choice !

chaosmaker · 24/10/2025 01:12

Why is it such big news? It doesn't really matter except to them

WhatASweatyBetty · 24/10/2025 02:03

I love Claudia, she makes the show. Tess has grown on me over the years, as others have said she is the straight woman to Claudia’s comedy.

I would love to see Mel and Sue take over.
If not, Alan Carr and AJ Odudu.

Some ideas to make the show 'big' again...
Sack the bloody awful tear-fest, aka 'couples choice'
Back to basics - more waltz and foxtrot, less salsa & Charleston
Less difficult dances in early weeks - no sambas, Argentine tangos etc til later stages
Better music, less crowbar-ing dances into music that just isn't right
Fewer theme weeks
No same sex pairings - just no need
No obligatory disabled contestant as it changes the whole dynamic.

Just my thoughts!

100% agree with all of the above.
They’ve ruined the basic premise of the show. I also hate the flashing lights and spinning production surrounding each dance. I like to see the feet and there is too much ‘busyness’.

I found it weird that it made the national news. The Beeb obviously thinks the show is more important in people’s lives than it actually is.

WeeGeeBored · 24/10/2025 08:38

The Beeb really loves Nigel Farage. Perhaps they should get him to do it.

the80sweregreat · 24/10/2025 08:38

I think that the bbc news did this because it wouid have been all over social media and better to be on top of it I suppose. They made a statement and that’s that now.
Won’t stop the speculation around who will do it next year.

when they choose contestants I am sure they consider getting a balance: actors, comedians, older, younger, influencers, sportspeople etc. why shouldn’t disability also be part of that mix? And many really like the same sex pairings. For me it’s only that kind of casting that keeps the show interesting. It risks becoming tired and dated.

BreadstickBurglar · 23/10/2025 14:56

I know I said Mel and Sue earliwr and still think it’d be brilliant but what about Graham Norton too?

Now we’re talking: Graham Norton would be good. And pair him with either Mel or Sue.

AbbeyGrange · 24/10/2025 09:48

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 23/10/2025 14:08

I doubt they'd do it but I'd love Mel & Sue to Host.

God no!

chaosmaker · 24/10/2025 12:18

Get New Presenters!

Edited to say brand new ones. Not people who already have a successful career but those straight out of presenting courses.

the80sweregreat · 24/10/2025 12:34

I’d love it if they choose new people. New fresh faces.
Not the usual suspects!
