I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. The cats have gone back to bed after breakfast & wandering round shouting 🙄. I'll move shortly to take my tablets, then sort them for the next week, and wash up the few pots there are.

Our plans for the day are to dye dd1's hair this morning - she's awake so hopefully soon! Then bake brownies with dd2 before we cook an early roast. We're having gammon with cauli cheese and carrots at dd1's request 😋. With the brownies for afters.

Dd1 needs to pack her case with the washing I brought home last weekend, and a bag with the leftover Chinese she wants to take, and dd2 has homework to finish off.

Once dd is safely on her train, it'll be my usual Self-Care-Sunday scrubby everything shower, an hour with my book and then bed, ready for the last four days of term 🥳.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning!

We are also going to bake brownies today! Ds9 has gotten heavily into baking/cooking (the other day we made deviled eggs!).
Other than that its a day of catching up on my laundry, and both boys need to do homework. Promised ds9 I would play roblox with him today. Its chucking it down outside so cant get the garden ready for winter which was my original plan. Have a lovely day x

MummyInTheNecropolis · 19/10/2025 09:00

Morning @lucysmam, I’ve just had a coffee and cleaned the kitchen. Am about to do some yoga (will follow a YouTube video) then have a shower. Got a friend coming over at lunchtime, we’re planning a long walk in a big local park then I’m cooking is a roast dinner (will do all the prep before she arrives).

Tonight I’ll be watching the strictly results then looking forward to going to bed and not having to set an alarm as I have 2 weeks off for half term!

DD is at her boyfriends for the weekend as per usual so have the house to myself until tomorrow.

frozendaisy · 19/10/2025 09:02

Morning all
just about to put school shirts in dryer and make coffee - rest of the house asleep
have done no school laundry this weekend so have ran out of time to delay
need to cobble together a mobile phone for eldest - he has lost his - possibly on the house but it’s no where to be found and he needs one for college - we were going to get both of them phones for Christmas - a shed load of hassle for utter carelessness

so between homework nagging
phone - I don’t know rescuing
laundry catch up
need to check timetables for next week done changes

a largely dull busy day - they happen once in a while

chicken roast though
by 7pm assume something resembling bags will be packed and can watch a film together

Morning,

Not been on here for a while. Today I will be cooking a roast. We have a beef joint (which I pre-cooked last night) 🙂 Need to put a couple of washes on then crack on with uni work. Then it will be a film and curling up on our new sofa (live it). Right now, I need to drink this 2nd cup of coffee to actually wake up lol

DilemmaDelilah · 19/10/2025 09:23

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. You're early today!

I've just had my breakfast, a banana sandwich, and when I've done this I need to get dressed to go and have my covid vaccination. I

I made a cassoulet yesterday because Mr Dilemma really likes it.... only for him to discover that I had used tinned 'tomatoes with Mediterranean vegetables' instead of ordinary ones. We had them delivered in error a very long time ago so I thought I would try to use them up. They contain really quite small amounts of peppers, courgettes and aubergine as well as the tomatoes and he doesn't like any of those. I'm not keen on courgettes and don't like aubergine but I thought I would give them a go. I sniffed the tin prior to pouring them in and it just smelled of tomato, and after a good 10 hours in the slow cooker with garlicky Toulouse sausages, pork and a large quantity of beans of various types it all just tastes of garlicky porky tomatoey goodness to me, and I have a very acute sense of taste. Mr Dilemma does not. AND it's full of beans which I'm not over-keen on.... So Mr Dilemma WILL eat and enjoy the cassoulet!

I also made a minestrone soup which also contains a few beans, so we're going to have a very 'beany' diet for a few days. Luckily we have no appointments this week, except for swimming tomorrow morning (which may be jet-propelled).

I have no plans for today. Our evening meal is sorted (said cassoulet and an apple crumble I also made yesterday). I expect I will put a wash on. I have some lovely new books a friend from my ex-work gave to me at my party, so I might start one of those.

ReceiveIt · 19/10/2025 09:28

Morning all 🙂

I'm in bed with my first coffee. The dc have invaded and are sprawled around my bed playing Roblox together. We'll have a lazy morning and around 1 I have to go to work and do a deep clean of the shop. Then back home for more cleaning, baths, week prep and dinner.

OchreSwan · 19/10/2025 10:01

Good morning all. I’m just finishing my first coffee of the day with my book. DP still asleep as he’s still not very well. Hoping he might be up for a stomp round the park to blow away the cobwebs later.

Otherwise it’ll be a very quiet day here - need to tackle a mountain of recycling but I did lots of sorting yesterday and spent the afternoon cooking things for the freezer so not much more to do. Probably lots more reading and knitting etc. Might treat myself to a bubble bath Fish pie for dinner and then early nights before a busy week I think!

dailyconniptions · 19/10/2025 10:02

Work today. 5am til 12.

Natsku · 19/10/2025 10:03

Taking DS out to play Pokemon Go, and then I'm going to bake some piparkakkua (gingerbread biscuits)

Thought about going to see one more film at the film festival in town (saw two yesterday) but just don't have enough time.

Consideringparttime · 19/10/2025 10:15

I love these sort of threads as I can find weekends quite lonely. And I have a bad back at the mo which is making me miserable. I've just headed out to meet a friend at a lovely local coffee shop, then I need to do a few errands (collect parcel, drop a gift off on a doorstep) then I think I'll head home and do some reading ( I have a book of ghost stories that will be great for today which Is rainy and a bit bleurgh) I need to do some laundry and my work to do list for the week. I might venture swimming but not sure my back will take it!

DysonLover1 · 19/10/2025 10:20

In bed with my 2nd coffee reading the Sunday Times online. Still giggling at Jeremy Clarkson’s stay at a wellness retreat.

Will go for a sauna, swim, jacuzzi as it’s torrential rain today.

Cook a roast dinner and watch the new Downton Abbey the Finale film.

In bed around 10am for work tomorrow.

Mewling · 19/10/2025 10:27

Morning @lucysmamand all! I was up at 5am, a family member is going through the mire a bit so I’ve been having a few sleepless nights thinking about them. Made breakfast for myself and DC, a nice coffee, and am now folding laundry.

The plan for today is housework, more laundry, and batch cooking whilst the DC play Minecraft and I catch up with my favourite podcasts.

It’s raining here so we won’t be going very far today. I had planned to do some gardening, we have an invasive plant that I’m at war with so was going to go out again and rip up a few more roots, but I shall design the eventual layout for the garden instead.

thebeautifulsky · 19/10/2025 10:27

Morning all

A quiet Sunday here. Just me and DH. Adult children and Grandchildren all away this weekend which is unusual as they're all here at some point on a Sunday. We're looking forward to a relaxed day though with nice food and a couple of films. The weather here is awful but we will try to get out for our usual 3 mile walk up the hills.

I was up and about at 6am and have done a load of ironing and have a beef stew simmering away in the slow cooker which we'll have with mash, roast potatoes, parsnips and a mound of green vegetables late afternoon.

I'm just sat in the kitchen with Mumsnet and a coffee watching the rain and the orange leaves floating down from the trees in the fields behind us. Absolutely beautiful. I can hear DH stomping about in the utility room whilst putting on his wellies and muttering to himself about having to clear the leaves from the lawn 😂

janehopper · 19/10/2025 10:53

I find these threads very restful, people have lovely lives and it's nice to read about them.

I've waved the kids off swimming and have two hours to clean the house but I may just lie under my electric blanket. Half term next week here so no school uniform to wash (well not immediately!) Later need to go into town to get presents for two birthday parties next week. And then chicken roast. I'm working tomorrow but then off for the rest of the week, hooray!

Coffeeandcake32 · 19/10/2025 10:57

I had a lovely lie in this morning while DH got up with our DS. Made me a lovely sausage and cheese muffin (nicer than mcdonalds and without the egg!). Its a day of meal prep cleaning and sorting laundry here. Will get out at some point for a walk with DS on his scooter. Have a fab day everyone!

gingercat02 · 19/10/2025 11:03

Just chilling this morning. Remarkably not hungover.
Pub lunch and then DH and I are going home. We have to pick DS up from the airport this evening, everyone else is staying until tomorrow.
We've had a lovely weekend catching up with old friends 🧡

Lifejigsaw · 19/10/2025 11:04

Morning all,

I’ve been looking forward to today all week. No alarm, no one to see, no work; just me, music, and chores! Feel I need to get on top of a load of stuff to make my brain less full and stressed.

Had a lie in with my book, and just had a bacon sarnie, cuppa, and chocolate biscuit to dunk. Catching by up on bake off with it while I make a list of things to do.

dishwasher parts are soaking in the sink and bedding is in the wash - much needed as I appear to have fallen asleep on a smartie from the tube I was munching yesterday evening 😬

Next I need to do a quick tidy, and carry on packing for my house move. Also need to find a removal company, and make a list of all the things that need doing. Desperately need to list some stuff on Vinted and take a load to the charity shop too.

Later I’ll cook sausages, roasties, veg and Yorkshire Pudding, and watch a film.

Zippedydodah · 19/10/2025 11:14

Good morning, it’s a very soggy one here. Thankfully it didn’t start raining until we’d nearly finished our dog walk; ZDog2 rolled in red soil molehills so, as she was already wet from running through long grass, she ended up black, white and tan 🫣
So she’s had a bath and is now snoozing.
Snap @lucysmam re dinner, we’re having peas instead of carrots 😋
I’ve cleaned out the bath after doing the dog, her towels are in the washing machine, I did the ironing before our walk while I was waiting for DH to pull his finger out, so I’m intending to do some mixed media art today. I did the line drawing yesterday, I need to hunt out my coloured inks and get going.
First a coffee I think!
Hope today goes well for you all x

This sounds totally BLISS. I was hoping for a day to myself .. but nope .. fuming !

SilkiePenguin · 19/10/2025 11:28

Off to the spa this evening for a meal, saunas / steam rooms and pools.

Before then have put washing on, may paint a 2nd coat in bathroom.

Lunch had roast a day early yesterday as big meal tonight so will have something simple with chicken or eggs.

pointythings · 19/10/2025 11:29

Sunday is housework day unless I'm doing archery, so I've hoovered the living room, installed new litter tray mats for the cats and I'm about to do a tip run. This will be followed by a small top up shop and a deep mop of the kitchen. Then I'm picking DD up from work and making flapjacks.

Greentreesx · 19/10/2025 11:31

Im doing the same as i was yesterday still looking for a holiday /getaway.

Thislittlekitten · 19/10/2025 12:12

Afternoon all.

I had a huge lie in. DH brought me breakfast in bed. I’m still in bed with ddog and on my phone.

Feeling a bit anxious today. Back to work and school tomorrow so a few things to do. I didn’t quite enjoy work before my holiday so a bit worried. I’m trying to have positive attitude and think fresh start.

Slowly getting the house and washing under control. Need to pop out for packed lunch stuff and tea for tonight. Think I’ll have another cup of tea first ready myself.

Peridot1 · 19/10/2025 12:29

Good afternoon all.

Late start here for me. I was awake from about 2.30am to around six stressing about stuff. Mainly our garden - we had a garden room installed a few weeks ago and DH and I have been painting it and are almost finished. I’m not sure if I like the colours now though. And I can’t really change it now very easily. It’s a pale greeney/cream colour and the window and door frames are sage green. I think it’s compounded by the fact it WAS sitting against huge dark green cypress trees in our neighbour’s garden but they had them cut down this week so the contrast is gone and it’s a big massive open space behind now. I’m happy the trees are no longer a danger but it’s a lot to get used to! I think it will be ok - just have to concoct a nice redesign of that side of the garden to try to add some trees and nice landscaping and planting. I got ChatGPT on the case and I’m feeling a bit calmer!

And our new kitchen blinds were installed in Friday and I don’t like them. And I switched from dishwasher tabs to more environmentally friendly sheets and they are rubbish! So I think I’m just generally in a grump!

I did have a lovely long chat with my best friend in Australia which is always good. Heated up some frozen croissants and pain au chocolates for breakfast.

Raining here so can’t finish the painting or do anything in the garden. Will get DH to help me rehang curtains which we took down while indoor painting was being done. And maybe rehang a couple of pictures. And need to make a decision on a rug for the sitting area.

Then I want to finish my book. Dinner is steak with roast potatoes, onions, mushrooms and pepper sauce with peas. And an early night.

DilemmaDelilah · 19/10/2025 13:34

My quick trip out to get covid jabbed turned into a wander round Lidl... intended to be just for bread and beansprouts but of course we got more than that. Free bakery product paid for the bread though so that was good. Then a short wander round M&S food where I got the red apples I can't find anywhere else.

We have just eaten the minestrone soup I made yesterday, into which I put quite a hefty amount of flat square (Hungarian I think) pasta. It was very nice indeed!

Mr Dilemma suggested watching a film this afternoon but I don't think he will be able to stay awake to watch it. If I find myself dropping off I will stop the film and go to bed... he will doggedly deny being tired, or being asleep, even though his head is back, his eyes are shut, his mouth is open and he is snoring!
