Would you be annoyed if school went 100% halal meat?

The school I work at has a new head teacher who has announced from after half term all meat needs to be halal. She says it's a more ethical way to slaughter animals (she's vegan herself) and no non-halal meat will be on offer. She said anyone who doesn't want it can bring a packed lunch.

I don't know much about halal meat other than it's religious connections. What do you think?

That's not true. Muslims worship Allah and believe that Mohammad is his prophet and that Jesus was just another prophet.

Christians worship the triune God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) so we believe that Jesus is God and worship him. God is described very differently in the Bible than how Allah is described in the Quran, their character and motivations are described very differently, so they are not the same at all.

Jews worship the God written about in what Christians call the Old Testament but they do not believe that Jesus is God.

Eating halal meat does not make you a Muslim. If you eat meat then you are a hypocrite if you object to halal meat. Kosher meat is also slaughtered in a similar way.

I confess I don't know the full details other than the "God" who supposedly created the world in 6 days is the same one in Judaism, Christianity and Islam and all 3 of those religions believe in that God.
They might interpret that story differently but the main guy at the beginning of it all is the same one.

All our meat comes from an ethical butcher. Just because I eat meat does not mean I can be party to that level of cruelty. 🙁

I'd be absolutely furious. Forget halal, just go vegetarian. What on earth are they thinking? Halal is a cruel way to slaughter.

All eating of meat is wrong. If people were required to kill their own food there would be a lot more vegetarians!

The Church of England set up schools before the government did (1870)
The purpose was to give the children in the local community an education.
This is why many village schools are CofE schools as they were simply created by the local church to educate the children of the village.
The children did not have to be members of the CofE.
Society has changed since those Victorian days but many schools have stayed partially funded by the CofE but are state schools.
Depending on the local population many CofE schools have very few pupils who are practicing members of the CofE.
A good Christian will want all children to receive an education regardless of that childs faith or no faith.

My daughters school did this she went vegetarian at school the one lunch assistant tried talking her around because they "knew" she wasnt "really" vegetarian she refused the parents complained loudly and all their arguments made zero sense there were literally zero people with religious restrictions in the school it was performative bullshit some parents left over it

I thought halal slaughter was less humane. Also no I do not want religious practices to inform what I eat in any way. Can you imagine the equivalent Christian practices (not that they exist AFAIK) being forced on everyone? Would not be allowed.

Those of you objecting to halal slaughter, do you object to kosher slaughter? Both are very similar methods but yet it’s always halal which seems to be an issue. Doesn’t take a genius to figure out why.
