Apart from chips you can't beat a steak pudding

OP posts:

I quite enjoy a saveloy from time to time!

And OF COURSE absolutely every time I get a pickled onion and egg....

TigerRag · 15/10/2025 15:59

Cod or a kebab

AtLeastIDidntUseASpoon · 15/10/2025 15:59

Fish, chips, curry sauce and a coke.

Goldpanther · 15/10/2025 15:59

StewkeyBlue · 15/10/2025 16:00

Cod , chips and then a pineapple fritter.

Handedin · 15/10/2025 16:00

Chocolatecustardcreamsrule · 15/10/2025 16:00

madaboutpurple · 15/10/2025 17:31

ExquisiteSocialSkills · 15/10/2025 17:34

Haggis or white pudding but you need to be in Scotland.

TheCurious0range · 15/10/2025 17:35

Chips and curry sauce don't really care what goes with it! Haddock if it's fish though.

TheJustJoker · 15/10/2025 17:38

Potato scallop and scraps with mushy peas.

Bigpinksweater · 15/10/2025 17:39

Normally cod bites (8), chips, mushy peas, full fat coke.

Chips are such a disappointment these days. They all taste of cardboard.

MoonBugs · 15/10/2025 17:40

So it has to be one of three options depending on which particular chip shop.

  1. cod, chips, curry sauce (if by the seaside and you know the cod is fresh and not from a questionable chippy)
  2. battered sausage with chips cheese and gravy (my go to choice if I’m not sure about the quality of the fish if we’ve not ordered from there before etc)
  3. chicken fillet burger (has to be proper 100% chicken breast though and not reformed crap) with chips and curry sauce
Uricon2 · 15/10/2025 17:46

Haddock and chips (preferably cooked in beef dripping)

SirBasil · 15/10/2025 17:51

Proper Sheffield fishcake, chips and mushy peas. Dandelion & Burdock or Vimto to wash it down. Hendos for the chips.

youalright · 15/10/2025 17:53

Chips, battered sausage, gravy, scraps and loads of salt and vinegar

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 15/10/2025 17:53

Depends on what mood I’m in . I tend not to have fish and chips together unless I’m starving as it’s a bit too greasy. If I have chips I’ll have with a salad pitta or with curry sauce or just by themselves and I’ll make a butty.

Yesterday I had a small piece of battered cod which I had with mash n peas I’d prepared at home. The batter was really light and fluffy and crispy. Lovely .

pinkpanther84 · 15/10/2025 17:56

Chips, battered sausage, curry sauce, lots of salt and vinegar

EllaPaella · 15/10/2025 17:57

frozendaisy · 15/10/2025 18:00

SpigTheFish · 15/10/2025 18:01

Battered Fish, chips and gravy with lots of vinegar.

ginasevern · 15/10/2025 18:03

I live in the South West and chip shop offerings here seem more limited than in other parts of the UK (especially those up north) from what I've heard. Like the OP mentioned steak pudding for example and another poster mentioned red pudding. Anyway, my usual go to is cod, chips, curry sauce and mushy peas since you ask.

waltzingparrot · 15/10/2025 18:06

Handedin · 15/10/2025 16:00

Smoked haddock. Or a red pudding.

Hmm, what's in a red pudding?

anrom1969 · 15/10/2025 18:07

Small cod, small chips . Then home to put the chips in a sandwich of cheap white bread with too much butter.Salt and vinegar obvs !! I’m sure I’ll be be fine.
