If your toothpaste is white (rather than blue) please tell me what it is!

I'm very sensitive to something in the translucent blue/green toothpastes but I'm finding more brands are producing these nowadays.

Can you save me on attempt 4 from buying yet another coloured toothpaste?

All I want is a white paste with some whitening properties that will look after my teeth and gums.

Colgate total

It's the sodium lauryl sulphate I react to, some Sensodyne, some Corsodyl and one of Aldi's own brand don't contain it.

Sensodyne. I forget the exact name but it's the one that has Novamin in it

Another vote for Arm and Hammer. I buy it in Savers

I had to go back to the cheapest basic Colgate one a few years ago after they changed the formula on all the others which made me feel sick.

NannyR · 14/10/2025 08:53

I use the cheapest Tesco toothpaste 49p a tube. My dentist has said it's fine, it has the correct amount of fluoride and as long as you have a good brushing technique you don't need the other ingredients.

Sensodyne Repair and Protect. It doesn’t contain sodium laurel sulphate which triggers my oral lichen planus.

Marvis Whitening Mint. It’s expensive for toothpaste but it’s the nicest one I’ve used.

TicklishSnail · 14/10/2025 09:32

Kingfisher. Get it in wholefood shops.

Interesting. This is my toothpaste too, but I once couldn't get it and bought another Sensodyne toothpaste (I forget which exactly) and it gave me awful irritation. I had to stop using it. I never knew what caused the irritation but will now research sodium laurel sulphate.

Sensodyne original mint, £2 at Aldi.

That's now blue.
I wrote to Haleon to complain!

OP I've switched to Aldi sensitive own brand and it's great - and SLS free.

When sensodyne turned all their toothpaste blue I had to switch. Most annoying.

But it is now blue. All of them are. Even the children's version.

Sensodyne Rapid Relief.

The best toothpaste I’ve come across!

It’s not. I’ve used it this morning. It’s white.

Justputsomeyoghurtonit · 14/10/2025 10:47

@BestIsWest it must be one I missed then. I've bought all the sensodyne that doesn't have SLS in it and all of them have gone blue and irritate my mouth.

If it says Haleon on the front, it's new recipe.

This is what I use.

Thanks! I emailed the company and they said that theyve improved all their recipes.

When I looked online quite a few people had complained saying that the blue was irritating them.

BestIsWest · 14/10/2025 11:23

@Justputsomeyoghurtonit Definitely white and labelled Haleon.

Justputsomeyoghurtonit · 14/10/2025 11:23

But does it have SLS?
That might be the thing that stopped me buying it.

Justputsomeyoghurtonit · 14/10/2025 11:23

Thank you for helping with the research!

BestIsWest · 14/10/2025 11:26

@Justputsomeyoghurtonit it doesn’t have SLS as I can’t tolerate it. It’s not the cheapest though but you can often get offers on it. Pleased to help, it took me ages to find one that didn’t make my mouth worse.

Justputsomeyoghurtonit · 14/10/2025 11:27

@BestIsWest thank you so much!

The aldi one is great but over 100ml and so can't take in my holiday hand luggage!
