Went for bloods on Friday, text first thing today from GP to ring and make a routine appointment to discuss results. Appointment is today over the phone. Don't know when they will ring. My anxiety is through the roof and my mind is doing over time. Waiting for the call seems like a lifetime. Tell me I'm being silly and overthinking! 😩😩

Had the exact same thing today. Bloods taken yesterday, receptionist called me to say doctor will be calling later, completely put me off the food I was about to eat, he called about 30mins later saying he’s concerned about this n that so I need to come in again on Friday. Needless to say I’m going to have some sleepless nights 😩

Thank you so much everyone for all the reassuring messages, they really helped me 🥰

Turns out my iron is low and I need medication for it. PHEW!! I know I was being silly and over thinking and as I said that is a bad trait about me but you all really made me feel that bit better while I waited for the call. They didn't call until the end of the day so I am sorry for not updating sooner!!

Thank you all again xx

I had a feeling it would be something like that but you never know. I am so relieved for you TT, that will be remedied and you will soon be fine.

limescale · 14/10/2025 20:31

OP, I'm normally quite a rational person but it's very easy to go down the path of doom with things like this.
I'm so glad it's 'just' low iron. Very treatable and you'll be skipping around with renewed energy before you know it!

Since July. I was extremely tired, hair coming out in clumps and generally feeling unwell. I also have stomach issues which I've been referred for so not a great combo. I hope yours improves soon.

My hair was falling out a lot (not in clumps but when I brushed it and it never looked nice), but I do swim almost every day so thought it was that. I also had no motivation to do exercise, again thought it was stress.

Yes same! The tiredness and hair loss has improved, more energy too. Just seems a long time. I'm not even sure what number ferritin should be?

I haven't no, does it still work as the iron dose is so low compared to the prescribed ones? 15mg as opposed to 210mg.

I found it absorbed much quicker (different types of iron do) and for sure easier (no side effects at all) than the pills. It's very gentle. When I was very very low I cheekily took double dose, in morning and evening (checked with makers in Germany where doctors prescribe floradix) and within about 2-3 months my iron went from 4 to pretty much normal range, low end..

Just really important to not have a cuppa near the dose! I still use it now, not every day, 2-3 times a week to make sure never drop that low again, I felt dreadful. As the doc said when he told me, he was amazed I was out of bed let alone at work.

Oh, the floradix pills were too harsh, this was the liquid. Anyway, worth a try if truly struggle. Good luck :-)

The NHS app said 11-360. So mine was pretty low. I wonder how long I had been walking about like that.

@inamo I had my gallbladder removed in feb and recently I've started to get a lot of aches and pains where my gallbladder used to be x

I had this occasionally - think it was liver pain. So I cut back on any saturated fat and it quickly improved.

CactusSammy · 14/10/2025 20:59

They've asked you to make a routine appointment, that means it's non urgent.
If it was serious, they would be asking you to book an appointment within 2 weeks.

Brilliant thank you for letting me know!

I asked to look at results from the year before etc and it was 15 then. 11 is definitely a ridiculous figure for them to call fine if I felt like that at 10.

I've been here.
The word routine is telling you in plain English that you do not have a cause for concern.
That's that.
End of story.

Contrarymary30 · 15/10/2025 08:14

Possibly your liver function is a bit off due to having the gall bladder removed . If it's just a routine appointment and not urgent then it won't be serious .

lilkitten · 15/10/2025 10:45

I can see my test results in my NHS app, they might be there? I think it'll be ok if they say it's a routine one - if it was urgent they probably would have made that clear

Hi, sorry your feeling like this. Not nice is it.
Can you not look on your GPS online they have now. To book a appointments see tests results. Then you'll be less stressed. Good luck
