I've been lucky and done well with Chinese food in the supermarkets' reduced sections. So I've got beef in black bean sauce from Morrison's, special fried rice from Waitrose and chilli and coriander noodles from M&S. Not too shabby!

Jacket potato with homemade batch chilli from freezer because I'm too knackered to do anything else 😅

Mutton curry, simmering away for the last couple of hours with aludam potatoes
It smells amazing but DSD doesn’t finish work til 8 so got ages to wait 😫

Can't you sneaky have yours now and save theirs for later? 🤫😅

We’re all unwell, so I roasted a whole chicken to have with noodles and veg in a broth. Even chucked some ginger in for good measure.

Really want a beef stew and dumplings now, rather than the glorified cheese on toast I was planning on 😂😂😂

We were supposed to be having courgette pasta but we’ve got a man here fitting a new boiler and don’t know when we’ll be able to get into the kitchen. We might have glorified cheese on toast later instead.

I had the tostada, with Heinz Tomato and it was delicious.

Sourisblanche · 14/10/2025 19:06

Smoked salmon, chips, broccoli and home-made coleslaw.

It was a meal to use up odds and ends but surprisingly good.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 14/10/2025 19:29

We also ended up with Heinz tomato - 1970s tea!

I made chinese rice for the DCs with tofu and chicken pieces on the side.

Then for DH and I (vegetarian) I added more rice (but I only had a microwaveable brown rice with pumpkin seeds and quinoa) to the pan to bulk it out. It looked a little dry so i added some water and stock. Then i added the tofu i had made. Then I looked at it and thought it still looked a bit - well- brown- so I added a sachet of teriyaki sauce. Which made it even more brown.

DH said it was okay with added sweet chilli and extra soy. I thought that it's primary benefit is that it will set like cement in the stomach and had some nutrients.

It's already setting... ugh.

logplant · 14/10/2025 19:43

Leftovers from last night - dirty rice.

blackheartsgirl · 14/10/2025 19:47

Soft food as I’ve had a front tooth out today 😬

so I’ve had mash, gravy, tin of tuna stirred in and some cheese melted in.

it was erm interesting 😂.

will have a yoghurt next mixed with apple puree.

ChubbyPuffling · 14/10/2025 19:49

We had a mildly disappointing stir fry with pulled pork and noodles.
M and S stir fry meal deal thing but added their pulled pork instead of the chicken it came with. Veg was a bit "bag of chopped veg" tasting even when cooked with black bean sauce pouch. Noodles were abominable, claggy and stuck together. Pork was lovely. We had some sharwoods prawn crackers with it which we all enjoyed.
Not often there is anything left on the plates here, but this one was a bit of a miss.

HeddaGarbled · 14/10/2025 19:56

Sausages, oven chips, tomatoes, mushrooms & beans.

TheTecknician · 14/10/2025 20:19

Tonight was butcher's sausages and a bacon chop with hash browns (have to be Sainsbury's) and a small tin of baked beans (have to be Branston). Simple but good. Homemade curry tomorrow.
