I didn't realise she was 88.

I didn't read her books but she always seemed fun when I saw her speaking.

I love Jilly Cooper, her books are so comforting - like eating chocolate in a warm bath on a cold night ❤️

Weightlo55 · 06/10/2025 11:04

@Lobsterteapot can you recommend one? I might read one to honour her memory as she came across as such a warm person. I may get addicted?

She died after a fall 😥How very sad.

aw, Jolly Super was great - I have several collections of her essays, and the half-fictional Common Years about life in leafy outer London. And Class, very cleverly observed and much plagiarised. RIP.

@Weightlo55 Rivals is the best one imo 🥂

Snugglemonkey · 06/10/2025 15:09

Oh, that is sad news. You are so right @Lobsterteapot, I revisit the Rutshire chronicles if I am feeling low.

Surprised there isn't a bigger thread on this. I remember a massive thread on here about spending the winter in a Jilly Cooper novel.

I haven't read her books in years, but enjoyed them greatly at the time when I did.

Weightlo55 · 06/10/2025 15:23

@PuttingOnTheKitsch there is another busier thread. I think we started them similar times?
