Three kids.

Two beds worth of bedding
swim towels and all the other used towels
school uniforms
other clothes

it’s not even like I don’t do any in the week

I'm amazed you have the weather to dry ot all!

montston · 04/10/2025 15:44

Ok

Cantgetausername87 · 04/10/2025 15:44

It's insane the amount of washing that needs doing. I have no advice here, complete a load per day minimum and it still piles up for the weekend x

TheChosenTwo · 04/10/2025 15:45

I think I did 5 loads on Monday and felt on top of the world 🤣
I hadn’t done any over the weekend at all and I haven’t done any since. Bugger.
Normally Stick a load on daily but fallen out of whack this week and working this weekend which is rare.

ButSheSaid · 04/10/2025 15:48

I once posted on a thread that I only need to do one load a fortnight, occasionally two. People got weirdly angry and were demanding I list everything 😄 'what about gym clothes and flannels and tea towels?!' er...I don't use any of those.

menopausalmare · 04/10/2025 15:48

I spread it across the week. Mixed colours during the week, whites on Friday night, sheets Saturday (alternative kids and adult beds), towels Sunday.

BCBird · 04/10/2025 15:49

Mine is out too OP. I'm watching it like a hawk because the wind is fierce

I live alone and there is no way I can do one load a fortnight, no way.

Ok.

Rosesarere · 04/10/2025 15:59

I was way more excited than I should have been of how windy it was when I woke up this morning. I have dried 3 losds on the line already

I wouldn’t have 14 days worth of stuff to wear so for that reason alone I’d need to do more often than that!

I have 2 small children and do one load every day, plus an additional 2-3 per week for reuseable nappies. Any more than that and I don’t have drying space.

Comedycook · 04/10/2025 16:00

Standard. I've done three loads today. It's never-ending

But you must have bedding? My bed alone is one whole wash, before you start on clothes...

(Its usually a wash per person(but mixed together), a load for each bed, and an extra load if school uniform week here)

tiredangry · 04/10/2025 16:02

I've done that much. Now got bleach going round in it as it smells a bit. After that, got more to do!

BCBird · 04/10/2025 16:03

I live alone too. I often think I should be able to limit to two load: one whites one darks- never managed it.

But bedding needs washing weekly. I'm no domestic goddess, but I start picking up the 'body' smell after a week and the pillowcase build up of skin / hair etc affects my face if I leave it after that point.

How often do you wash your bedding?

Thecomfortador · 04/10/2025 16:05

Second load on the line right now, first lot dried in half an hour in the wind. I could do with doing sheets and towels but they'll wait until tomorrow.

GoldBalonz · 04/10/2025 16:07

I do two loads every single day and often more on weekends. My dehumidifier is on pretty much 24/7 at the minute.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 04/10/2025 16:18

Single child free person - three or four loads per fortnight (one or two dark, one light, one white) covers clothes, towels, bedding.

Extra for pet stuff and (separately) soft furnishings if I can't squeeze them into one of my normal washes.

No tumble drier so no chance of doing three loads in a day unless it's summer!

myfavouritecolourisnotpink · 04/10/2025 16:21

Gosh, my kids have left home now so I’ve gone from putting the washer on respin when i get up for a 3am piss to wondering where the fuck all the dirty washing is now there are only the 2 of us 🤣🤣🤣
dehumidifier is your friend and also respin once at least for clothes and twice for towels

Soonenough · 04/10/2025 16:27

@myfavouritecolourisnotpink Why the respins ? Do you rinse again as well . Just wondering. I spin at 1400 and never felt the need to do it again .

Maybe she has a tumble dryer

DoubleShotEspressox · 04/10/2025 16:49

Three kids. Do a couple in the week when the basket starts looking stressed out.

Then it’s a load for uniforms (skirts, jumpers, dark clothes through the week). Fifteen white shirts. PE kit.

Bedding for four beds, towels from two bathrooms. Work clothes.

I end up doing probably 9 a week at least.

Then ironing it all once it’s dry. My weekends used to be fun. What happened to me.

CoralPombear · 04/10/2025 16:52

Same here, uniform for me and work clothes for DH plus home clothes and multiple gym kits per week. School uniform and home clothes for two dc plus gym and sports kit for one and swim kit and two hobby uniforms for the other. Plus beds plus towels plus dog beds / towels as needed. If I don’t do a load every day I’m in trouble by the weekend, it never ends.

FixTheBone · 04/10/2025 16:56

7 kids. Minimum 4 loads per day.

Partly because my wife and MIL insist on washing every item every day its worn - including school sweaters etc that I would have washed once per week as a kid...

We all wash stuff too often imo...
