Anyone else got Covid right now?

StormySea23 · 04/10/2025 15:02

I only got OG covid twice and it was a bad cold maybe. Got the vaccines but wasn't eligible for follow up boosters.

Sunday night I started with fatigue and mild fever. Since then I've been the most ill I have been as an adult. Mon-Weds I couldn't even watch TV or listen to podcasts, the most I could manage was doomscrolling reels. Was sleeping a lot and temp kept spiking. Cough gradually got worse over time. Better from Thurs, awake more and able to watch TV but still fatigued and the cough is massively debilitating, massive coughing fits that floor me. Now looking ahead and wondering if I'll even be well enough for work on Monday or if I'll have to work out how to get a doctors note.

If you have it, how are you doing?

Can I ask a genuine question. I see people saying they are covid positive but how do you know it's covid. There is no requirement to test or isolate so why would people buy a test. Just curious

My daughter had to go to hospital due to an ear infection and they tested her - she had covid which both I and my son then got too

ita going round at work too, but people either get it for 7 days like I did or have to leave work as they feel so ill and then return 48 hours later

Cold and flu tablets - like paracetamol

Oh you mean like the lempsip in tablet form. Something that masks symptoms. I was imagining they were something which actually fought the virus (and hoping to get some for my medicine cabinet!)

What are flu pills?

Literally over the counter flu medication. I buy the Asda ones. Just to help you feel better. They don't do anything to the virus (sadly).

I started with two days of mild headaches then blocked nose and cough on Thursday last week. Over the weekend I’ve had spiking temperature, sore tingly skin, upset tummy and cough. Tested Sunday afternoon and strong positive. Taken today off work to try and sleep it off. Not felt so wiped out since I had Covid for the first time a few years ago. Hope everyone gets well.

Darner · 06/10/2025 09:54

I went into the office one day last week and a few colleagues had heavy colds. Don’t think anyone has actually tested for Covid - it wasn’t mentioned anyway. Not sure if it makes a difference if it’s a cold/flu/covid anyway.

I think it’s the unpredictability of Covid that makes the difference. Probably to a healthy person in their 20s/30s/40s there is little difference but it’s about the possible impact on others you may be passing it on to.

bertomi · 07/10/2025 18:10

Yes and me. Feel horrendous

Happysinglemum72 · 07/10/2025 20:59

Now on day 10 and not feeling much better… how long to get over this? Wfh but as soon as I finish I’m back to bed. Usually I’m at gym most night and I’m pretty fit and healthy

Timeforabitofpeace · 07/10/2025 22:06

I have just had it. It’s over now but I still have a headache. I know a fair few people who I haven’t seen for weeks who also have it, so I’m assuming it’s rife.

Timeforabitofpeace · 07/10/2025 22:07

I found that a good indicator was the very sore throat and hoarse voice. I also tested.

Catatemyhomework · 07/10/2025 22:13

Yep I have it. It's awful. Painful face and awful headache, runny and blocked nose, non stop sneezing. Just feel terrible. Terrified as I went to visit my elderly father at the weekend. I was fine then, no symptoms and had no reason to believe I had covid. Really hope I haven't given it to him. I woke up on Monday feeling dreadful, with a headache worse than any hangover. Took a covid test and immediate positive result.

Cece92 · 07/10/2025 22:29

My DD12 had Covid mid August. She had an upset stomach to start with but she has mild IBS so I thought she was having a flare up but on the Monday she looked grey and dark circles around her eyes so I kept asking are you okay. She was like why you keep asking me. She went for her shower etc then came to me at 10pm and said ‘I don’t feel good at all’ she had a high temp, proper blocked nose, head ache so I gave her paracetamol and sent her to bed with a bottle of water. Next day she was burnt up, sore head, sore throat and she said her body felt like she had been battered and her cheeks were bright red and that’s when I tested her don’t even know why and it was Covid. She also had 0 appetite. She missed her first 3 days of high school. She still tested positive the Saturday but she was better had a cough for about 4 weeks after but no amount of cough medicine helped just cough sweets. Her appetite’s took a couple weeks to come back zx

ThatLadyLady · 07/10/2025 22:29

Had a similar bug.

didn’t test, didn’t assume it was covid, I just got on with life.

Lunalara · 07/10/2025 22:33

I have had the virus too. Had to take two days off work due to fever and chest pain. Feeling much better now, but still have a hoarse voice and cough. That part refuses to go away completely.

Feetlikeice · 08/10/2025 14:00

I test as I know what covid is capable of, irrespective of previous health.

Lingomo · 08/10/2025 14:03

Had it a couple of weeks ago, no sore throat or cough but dh had a nasty one with it, I was just very sore everywhere and the worst headache.

Then we’ll assume you weren’t properly unwell 🙄

Thegrassroots26 · 10/10/2025 11:53

Not sure what I’ve got but started with a yucky throat today and feeling unwell and lethargic. Resting in bed in hopes it passes…
I work in a school, so I’m not surprised the germs have caught up with me.

Thegrassroots26 · 10/10/2025 11:56

Also had a weird symptom yesterday of just nose running randomly in the morning, but no other cold symptoms.

Happy9 · 11/10/2025 01:51

Long covid victim had march 2020,intensive care, got again after 5 jabs, had fibromyalgia as a result, it's rife again and worse than ever everywhere, can see us going into restrictions with latest viral covid if gets much worse

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 11/10/2025 22:26

That’s not going to happen @Happy9, although I do wonder if they’ll back track a bit on the vaccines to add back the groups that were entitled to one last year and aren’t this.

Thegrassroots26 · 12/10/2025 16:28

I really hate Covid. It’s such a head f&£@ of an illness. Felt ok for the first few days and now on day 4 I’m heading downhill with a general fluey, achy, nauseated, shitey vibe. Thought it might be a bit easier given it’s like my fourth year of having it, but no, seems not. Don’t even need to test to know what it is. I can feel, yep it’s crappy Covid - again! 😤😩🤬😡🥺

Fallenangel2014 · 12/10/2025 17:02

I’m feeling run down today. Slept a lot this afternoon and now my chest feels a bit burn -y. Also had upset stomach the last couple of mornings..wonder if I have it. Work in a school so bugs are rife.
