Pink door for a house I'll sell in 2-5 years?

I need to get a new door. Composite. My dream is a dusky pink. However I am planning to sell the house in a few years. Will a pink door put you off buying it? It's not like you can just paint over composite is it...?

If I shouldn't get pink, what colour do you think I should get?

get what colour you like, don’t decorate your house for strangers, I’ve just painted my kitchen units pink and my kitchen door green, I don’t care what anyone else thinks about it.

SparklyCardigan · 01/10/2025 18:12

I'd buy a house with a pink door!

Chewbecca · 01/10/2025 18:12

Love a dusty pink door on the right house and it would make me want to buy your house more Vs another colour.

I bought my current house when it had a pink door and I haven’t gotten rid of it and don’t intend to!

mynameiscalypso · 01/10/2025 18:15

The house next door to us has a hot pink front door.

itsmeits · 01/10/2025 18:16

They can be painted with the right prep and paint.
Go dusty pink, if you think it's putting people off in few years it will be easy to use a darker colour over it 😊
Do it how often are you going to get a new front door 🚪
MILs last house had a pink door she bought it with the door and sold it with the pink door and a pink shed to match

TheFairyCaravan · 01/10/2025 18:16

I’ve got a pink door. It’s sulking room pink by Farrow and Ball, I can’t see why it would put people off. Round the corner they’ve got a bright purple one.

Have what you want.

CarrieMoonbeams · 01/10/2025 18:16

I'd love a pink door, either that or a really buttery yellow.

OhNoNotSusan · 01/10/2025 18:17

personally not,
there are lots of other innocuous colours you could choose

martinisforeveryone · 01/10/2025 18:18

Personally if my dream decor was out of the mainstream I'd wait until I moved to achieve it. When you market your house you want to appeal to the biggest possible audience.

Certain types of property and certain locations would suit pink more than others, but it wouldn't be my choice.

MrsClatterbuck · 01/10/2025 18:19

A friend had their door sprayed pink. The house sold a year later. The new owners repainted the door which was a composite door.

chunkybear · 01/10/2025 18:19

I want to see this dusky pink door!

Moveoverdarlin · 01/10/2025 18:20

It wouldn’t put me off. Even if it did, I would press ahead with the house if I loved everything else apart from the front door - I would just replace it.

I’d feel bad replacing a door under a year old, but in 5 years I could live with it.

Dutchhouse14 · 01/10/2025 18:26

Love a pink door 😊
Appreciate not everyone would but tbh future buyers could easily change it love everything else about the house

Whatcolourdoor · 01/10/2025 18:32

Wow, great responses! I think getting a front door in a certain colour is harder to change than kitchen cupboard doors etc. Especially if I get the frame pink too, then it's not like they can even just replace the door, they'd have to replace the whole thing.

I'd put a bright front door (any colour) as a positive over a black/brown/white front door.

24Dogcuddler · 01/10/2025 18:35

Your house. Choose something that will make you smile every day.

citygirl77 · 01/10/2025 18:37

Dusky pink looks great, but not bright pink!

Twoshoesnewshoes · 01/10/2025 18:47

It would be a plus for me

weareallcats · 01/10/2025 18:49

I have a (sulking room) pink kitchen and a turquoise front door - love colour. Have what you like - it’s your home.

PumpkinSeasonOctober · 01/10/2025 18:49

I wouldn’t like it but u would overlook it for the right house.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 01/10/2025 18:50

If you’re planning to sell fairly soon, I wouldn’t.
Yes, it’d put me off. Composite doors are not exactly cheap to replace.

Winter2020 · 01/10/2025 18:59

I love a wooden door - if you have wood it can be repainted easily. Have a white frame.

NewGoldFox · 01/10/2025 19:39

I love a colourful door, think they are charming.
