Pink door for a house I'll sell in 2-5 years?

I need to get a new door. Composite. My dream is a dusky pink. However I am planning to sell the house in a few years. Will a pink door put you off buying it? It's not like you can just paint over composite is it...?

If I shouldn't get pink, what colour do you think I should get?

It's your house and if it makes you feel happy when you see it then absolutely go for it. Personally I would love a pink car.

Pic please OP. I love pink. ❤️

2 things

  1. I hated our front door when we first moved in and vowed to change it.Even though we're going to live there for 2 years.
  2. 21 years later, we are still living there with the horrible front door I don't like and wish we had invested in it when we had the money!

No.
I hate to see a pink or puce door on a house.
Think it looks like a bordello.

KillMeMounjaro · 03/10/2025 01:17

Sounds fabulous. It’d be a plus point for me if I were looking to buy!

Decorate your place for yourself, OP! 2,5 years is a long time and you deserve to enjoy the way your place looks. It's not like you're moving out in 2 weeks or months, so get the door you like!

Daftypants · 03/10/2025 09:20

I love dusky pink , so I’d like that a lot .
My door is grey ..not a nice warm grey more like a battleship grey ugh but that’s what the house came with .
I would love to change it but that’s not a priority when we need other things.
Are you in an area where you must choose a particular colour from a range of traditional/ classic ?

YelloDaisy · 03/10/2025 09:22

Is it a red brick house ? Just wondering.

SeagullSam2027 · 03/10/2025 09:22

No, other people's decor is rarely to my taste so I would replace it along with everything else. It wouldn't put me off buying the house.

Bjorkdidit · 03/10/2025 09:26

Realistically, no-one's going to reject an otherwise suitable house because of the colour of the front door. It's a non-issue and few people have the luxury of being that particular. They might not like it, but it's hardly a deal breaker.

warmapplepies · 03/10/2025 09:30

It’s your house, do whatever makes you happy.

Jk987 · 03/10/2025 09:31

I’d love a pink door! Life’s too short for boring brown!

Needspaceforlego · 03/10/2025 09:33

Personally I wouldn't, if it was your forever home then yes but not for a house you plan to sell.

The house needs to appeal from Rightmove, you need people to click on the photo, before they'll even view it.

Ophy83 · 03/10/2025 09:44

I would choose a colourful door over a boring door any day.

TheGrimSmile · 03/10/2025 10:35

I'd love a dusky pink door. Get what you want because you'll never please everybody.

RaininSummer · 03/10/2025 10:51

I would love to buy a house with a pink door.

EerieDecorations · 03/10/2025 10:54

I don't think it would put me off but it would be a negative as I'd have to change it.

ImFineItsAllFine · 03/10/2025 11:59

I wouldn't want a pink front door but If I loved the house, the front door would not put me off buying it. I'd just factor in changing it when doing my sums on whether I could afford the house and what my top offer would be on it.

Perhaps a sensible compromise would be not to get a pink frame as well though? We had a composite door repainted, its fine as long as its prepped properly and the right paint is used. Neigbour tried to do his himself though and made a mess of it.
