Anyone Awake?

I did sleep but was woken by DD16, still on the phone to her GF at gone 12.30. They’re seeing each other today! DD is on the spectrum & I believe that sometimes she genuinely doesn’t know she’s talking loudly. However, we have said that she needs to be quiet after 11.
As well as that disturbance, I’m in some discomfort from catarrh (sorry for tmi). I struggle periodically & think I may need to get a nasal spray. Very achey too & feel like I’ve trapped a nerve in my neck/left shoulder.

I'm up feeding my 7 week old. We've spent the week at a holiday park and go home tomorrow (today?), need to be out by 10 at the latest so hoping this isn't one of those turbulent nights where he's up every 1.5/2 hours! 🤞🏻
That's frustrating with your DD. They need to get on texting when it's this late if they insist on chatting! Or messaging, or snapchatting, whatever it is they prefer to use now. Hope you can sleep soon.

I’m wide awake too… switching between Mumsnet and swiping on hinge. Just found dean gaffney on hinge! He’s too short for me though

Hysterectomynext · 26/09/2025 02:21

I’m wide awake too. No sleep yet despite being exhausted from 6pm

funny about dean gaffney

@GreeneryGrass i hope baby sleeps a bit tonight!

@MarmaladeSandwich7 It was actually my daughter who complained about me talking too loudly after I came home last night. That was weds night. I’m so wide awake and sleep deprived

Songlines · 26/09/2025 02:22

Me, for no other reason than that I've been catastrophising about every minor thing in my life. Can't shut my brain down 🤪

Exactly the same. I even went back to 1973 and the miners strike that meant we had power cuts and I went through all that again in my mind. I’ve barely got enough time to deal with my day to day life but the rest of it is never far from the forefront waiting to be gone through again

Pancakeflipper · 26/09/2025 02:37

Morning...

My first night in my own bed since a hospital operation, with a combination of pain (had to get up for pain relief - oh I miss the night nursing shift who would just pop up with drugs), and I was snoozing late afternoon has me wide awake.

Same. 10 year old autistic DD coughing and grinding her teeth in her sleep next to me. She's started a new school this year and I think the other girls are already excluding her. So my brain thought it'd be good craic to wake me at 2am to worry about it. That and menopause. The squirrels in my brain are having a party.

That sounds so familiar! I'll add it to my list of things to worry about😀

@bitterexwife Devastated for you that Dean is too small for you he seems such a catch.

I've got a sure throat. I'm probably the noisiest one in the house because I'm restless.

The dog is on the bed and fed up with me moving around.

Brendathebear · 26/09/2025 02:56

Im awake. I presented at a work meeting and got a barrage of questions that I couldn't answer yet, so Im in a spiral of overthinking.....

Im also menopausal and struggling with hot flushes so this originally woke me up.

BuntyBeaufort · 26/09/2025 03:05

I’m at an airport across the pond. Our flight has been delayed by 3 hours, and then the flight is nearly 7. So by the time we land and get home we’ll have been on the go for nearly 30 hours, if the M25 is kind to us.

JobMatch3000 · 26/09/2025 03:10

Uggg. Overthinking about work. We launched a new process this week and it is all going well but I feel unsupported by Senior Management who just care about the £££ it will save. I have more staff training to do tomorrow as well as contributing to a parallel process so it's just super hectic and I can't switch off. Grrr.

Triffid14 · 26/09/2025 03:10

Another one here with an autistic dd who has now woken up 3 times.

Same as last night :(

Never known the M25 to be kind but I hope it's when you get on it.

I've got a really old Spandua Ballet song in my head. I don't even like them.

Yes what I do is have an iPad to the side of me playing YouTube videos and a phone in my hand for scrolling and then I go through everything I can remember about everything at all and worry and ruminate and ponder. I then I say I had insomnia.

Are you in Montreal? Moi aussi!

potato08 · 26/09/2025 03:31

Chest infection
Can't stop coughing

ImGonnaKeepOnDancing · 26/09/2025 03:45

Have a deadline tomorrow for the final into on a course I’m taking and can’t settle because it’s on my mind, that and a million other things. Urghh! Why do our brains do this to us when we just want to sleep 😣

Got to get up early to get my DD to school too so I need sleep.

oh no. I hope you’re okay. My DH suffers from them quite often, they’re awful. Sending hugs 🤗

WannaFOffOnHoliday · 26/09/2025 03:52

Health concerns for both myself and partner right now. And also serious money worries
Why do the small hours feel the worst for anxiety
Hope everyone catches some sleep soon

MrsALambert · 26/09/2025 03:55

DS2 woke up in pain from an operation he has yesterday morning. He’s currently laid next to me watching Minecraft videos waiting for the calpol to kick in

Elleherd · 26/09/2025 04:09

Nightmares and stupid amounts of pain. At least a reminder I'm still alive.
Might start the day early and try and make a positive of it.

CalicoPusscat · 26/09/2025 04:14

Woke up a bit earlier and watched the film 200 cigarettes - it hasn't got good reviews but I find it quite fun.

I've asked everyone to leave me alone this week (in a more polite way) as I need some peace and quiet to recover from covid! It's nice to be by yourself at times. Luckily you say 'covid' and they automatically scarper.

Gogglefrog · 26/09/2025 04:22

Morning! Been awake 2 hours. I have a very hot DS3 next to me, snoring loudly. Also have DS10 in bed with us for no other reason that he wanted to!
I came on to google whether I should wake a sleeping child to give calpol. The response seems unanimous… don’t bother. So I’ve put the fan on(I’m freezing!) and he seems to have cooled down a bit.
The boys are with their dad this weekend and I plan to do absolutely NOTHING except sleep, watch tv and eat. I can’t wait!

How hot is hot?
Hope he wakes up feeling better
