Ok so I’ve been told I have a loud laugh by a couple of people now
but I’ve noticed now that dh if we are out somewhere and I laugh he will go shhh
he does it every quietly and sheepishly

but I don’t know what to make of it
I mean I can’t really control how loud I laugh

Of course you can control it and quieten down. It's actually a form of attention seeking, ensuring people notice you but also ensuring you can't be called out on it because 'Hey, laughing is such an innocent, lovely thing to do, yeah?'

I also suspect you have probably made 'your laugh' a signature feature of your personality and you believe it to be your USP? The fact that you are being irritably sshhhhed by those around you is all you need to know. Your 'laugh' doesn't set you apart or make you a little bit special. It's simply bloody annoying.

The thing is, nobody on here can tell you about your laugh OP because they haven’t heard you. Ask a few real people (people who can really hear your natural laughter). It’s the only way to really know. But I suspect you would have picked up on this already if it was a cause of wider societal concern.
