Just wondered what have you got?

How often do people change their phones?

OP posts:

Samsung S24. I change phones only when necessary. The battery on my last phone was running down too quickly so I got this one earlier this year.

Interestingly, the top 3 phones recommended by Which? currently are all Samsung.

iPhone 13, had it since 2022 and will use it until software updates stop/apps are no longer supported.

Roserunner · 19/09/2025 06:32

I have a Google pixel 9, got it on a black Friday deal last year with free headphones. I love it, the cameras great and battery is much better than DHs Samsung which is newer.

LittleMi55Nobody · 19/09/2025 07:53

a really old fashioned basic nokia with a payg sim....i've never had or wanted a smart phone

Pixel 6 had it nearly 4 years thinking about upgrading to a pixel 10 this year, Google have said they'll give me almost £300 for the old one, so I'll just buy a new one outright and stay on my Giffgaff £10 a month sim

£300 for a pixel6??
tell me more please!

Antimimisti · 19/09/2025 08:03

A Pixel that I bought used - I think it's a 6. Apart from calls and texts, the only thing I use a phone for is the camera and occasional sat nav - I don't use it for the internet. I got the Pixel because the camera is supposed to be amazing, but I've been a bit disappointed, it doesn't seem any better than any other phone camera. I do like it in all other respects so I'm not in a hurry to replace it, it just means taking a separate camera with me if I'm going somewhere I'm likely to want to take pictures.

Google? In the trade in store the pixel 6s are around £80-100 trade in value. Where did they say they'd give you £300 for it? Confused

I've got a pixel 7 then a iPhone 15 as my work phone - work provided otherwise it would be much older. I prefer Android to iOS, the constant need to update the iPhone irritates me so much.
Pixel is fine, I like the functionality of it and it has great battery life which is the most important thing to me. Camera is just average although I love the magic eraser - managed to erase everyone behind me off the Brooklyn Bridge last year so it looks like I have the whole thing to myself 😃

iPhone 13

Edited

On my Google account they offered me £284 if I'm upgrading to the 10

I like to keep costs cheap for phones so I get old sets off those who upgrade and use a sim that costs a tenner a month.

Devilsmommy · 19/09/2025 08:20

I've got a Google pixel 7. Will do the upgrade next year when the contract gets renewed. Had it 2 years so far

Have you looked at Pixel Tips on your phone for all the things the phone can do with your pictures?

Lonelycrab · 19/09/2025 08:23

iPhone 12 mini, 3.5 yrs old.

Battery is a bit crap now (wasn’t great to start with due to small size) and it’s full of pics so can’t upgrade the OS, but it chugs on. Will replace when it dies which will hopefully be a little while yet…

Yes - it has good post-production options but I prefer to edit on my laptop really so they are a bit wasted!

tumblingdowntherabbithole · 19/09/2025 09:21

iPhone 16 - I upgrade every time my contract comes up for renewal, which is every 36 months.

MummyMansfield · 20/09/2025 18:21

I've just traded my pixel 7 in for a pixel 10 - screen and photos are much better but tbh I probably won't end using half of the functionality! My husband and kids all have pixels too, they're great, even DS pixel 6 - daughter would love an iPhone but I can't justify the cost just to have an iPhone!

Tcateh · 20/09/2025 19:30

Samsung A35
Someone was flogging it brand new boxed as they got it as an extra with an upgrade.

I needed to upgrade my beloved Huawei p smart (rip) and got this for £150 6 months ago.

I always but phones outright and keep them till the end.

It's pretty good this phone, for what I need anyway

UnctuousUnicorns · 20/09/2025 19:52

Samsung Galaxy A14. I'll replace it when it dies.

10GreenBottle · 20/09/2025 20:39

Samsung galaxy z flip 3, bought it refurbished about 3 years ago, although the battery has recently taken a turn for the worse. I'll probably replace it with the recently replaced model so the sansung galaxy z flip 6 hopefully also refurbished/like new

Blingismything · 20/09/2025 23:46

iPhone 13 Pro

chattyness · 20/09/2025 23:52

I've got a doro dumb Phone and I love it, I just upgraded to a 4g one because I had to but it's calls a d texts only. I've never been into phones and if I didn't need to keep one for emergencies I wouldn't even have this one

SweetBaklava · 20/09/2025 23:55

iPhone SE, five years old and still going strong

suki1964 · 21/09/2025 00:10

Just upgraded my iPhone 14 for a 17 pro

First time in my life have I ever gone for a brand new release. DH was under contract and I usually waited for his upgrade where we would swop phones, Id get the new one, he got the old one, the one Id have had two years and looked after because he wrecks phones

Only he found a cheap android he loves last year, so we paid his contract off so both now on sim only, , and I used birthday/christmas money and trade in and went for it

purdypuma · 21/09/2025 02:50

Samsung S24 fe on contract with iD mobile. Did have a Samsung S21 with sim only for a fiver a month but the battery came away from the phone & stopped charging. I have had it fixed with a new battery recently for 45 quid & gifted it to my mum so she's happy!

I'm more than happy to admit I'm lost without a smartphone & all my apps. Always had Samsung Androids, never fancied an iPhone.
