When you win the lottery, what small thing will you buy that you've always coveted?

Me? I'm getting a car with a boot that closes itself.... luxury.

Not small in my case - would buy a flat in London - we are in our 60s, very decent income , but rent ( lovely house in Bath) this is for various reasons, lost business, by time it was all pulled back , too old to get mortgages - so for me the flat would be the security and then would split the time between London and abroad - don’t need anything small - do need something big- lol!!

MrsPerfect12 · 18/09/2025 10:52

A house with a pool not needing a massive house I just want a private decent sized pool that I know is clean, I love swimming but all the pools even at the nice gyms in my area are a bit grotty.

EDITED: sorry just reread “small purchase”

brand new pair of tights/hold ups every time I wear them. No matter how carefully I wash them, they go manky.

This would include some way to recycle the cast offs to a good purpose, maybe bird feeders or something so I’m not adding to landfill.

Pay someone to sort out my garden. Not a big landscaping job but tidy it up so I can keep on top of it.

Hair washed and blow dried by a hairdresser every other day

Same. Bloody hate hair wash days

Childhood dream - a tortoise!

oh that’s lovely. maybe there’s a way you could have one anyway? 🐢

Frikadelle · 18/09/2025 14:03

Beautiful editions of my favourite books. Although I'm not sure if I could part with their much-loved, dog-eared counterparts!

Waiting for it to shut is a pain in the bum quite frankly.....overrated.

Why would you have to wait, walk away!

To lock the car with the fob.

To lock the car with the fob.

With a Ford, you can open/close the boot with the car locked.

You can’t with mine…(not Ford)

Mimsykins · 19/09/2025 12:50

I'd buy BVLA earrings for my 14 ear piercings

redfairy · 19/09/2025 22:28

I've always wanted to wear a sari.

I have one of those cars OP - not a fancy high end car. You have no idea how many times I've pressed the button to close it over and I've rattled my head on it! Poor DS has had a couple of near misses too! He now shouts quick duck mum 😆😂

Mine would also be a cleaner and a Gardner. Also a private tutor for my lovely autistic 6yo for some 1-1 learning and someone to help guide us both through his emotional deregulation. Oh and some really good parenting classes. Not because I think I'm a bad parent but I would like to be the best version for myself and my 3 children.

Edited

I know this is an old post but how are these small things?

TheKittenswithMittens · 13/03/2026 12:17

Harley-Davidson. I would probably fall straight off, though.

Libre2 · 13/03/2026 12:17

Summer24isRubbish · 17/09/2025 21:40

I have a cleaner and I still imagine her dusting my skirting boards 😂

Same 😂I mean in fairness, she probably would if I asked her, but that involves me taking stock of what is going on in the house!

Crikeyalmighty · 13/03/2026 12:32

Wouldn’t be small in my case as would be a house - we don’t own and are beyondxstage of getting mortgages, so for me would be a priority

on the small purchase front would be having my teeth sorted ( probably about 8k so not that small)

TomatoSandwiches · 13/03/2026 13:24

Either air con for the house or a big dark solid wood sleigh bed with some steps to climb into it.

AllIwantedwasanMOT · 13/03/2026 13:42

Big would be a detached house with a huge garden and quitting work to homeschool DS.

Medium would be a double loft bed with a staircase leading up to it and a sitting corner underneath. And a Mulberry handbag.

Small would be nice socks and comfy, stylish trainers.

CoolDipCanineLover · 13/03/2026 13:45

I'd get the garden done and put in a sauna and a cold plunge tank
(although I've just realised the post says 'small thing'.

In that case it would probably be a very long massage!

AllIwantedwasanMOT · 13/03/2026 18:28

It's beautiful! The only thing that's small about that is the box though!

TheFormidableMrsC · 13/03/2026 18:33

I’d have somebody come in and paint my house.

BusWankers · 13/03/2026 19:31
