I discovered it in March 2020 when someone on Twitter shared a very batty picture of the Trending sidebar. Loved it here ever since!

OP posts:

It was late 2011/ into 2012 when pregnant and after advice on various baby topics, I found lots of guidance on pregnancy/ breastfeeding etc via google and then found the rest of the sites topics while up breastfeeding in the middle of the night with a baby who cluster fed for hours. I signed up at some point and never left.

AnxiousAnnieeeeeeeeee · 15/09/2025 01:28

2009 when pregnant with DD1. Can’t quite remember how I found it - think had been searching baby related stuff and came across it.

OverlyFragrant · 15/09/2025 01:35

I was aware of MN through terfing on twitter, but never made an account as not a mum and it didn't feel right.
Flash forward, I fell unexpectedly pregnant and needed some pretty niche advice. I made my first ever post and have been here since.

The pregnancy didn't end as I hoped, but I'm here for the long haul now. Addicted to it.

I would say about 2002. Can't remember how I heard about it.

justasking111 · 15/09/2025 01:39

Autumn 2000 when I found myself pregnant. Think there was a website called babycentre affiliated with Tesco. They mentioned it.

Found it useful so stayed on and off over the years

coxesorangepippin · 15/09/2025 01:43

Around 2013

Came for parenting advice

The first thread I read was a woman whose mother had said to her 'don't let anyone kick you in the swimming pool when you go swimming' and the op was like, why would I 'let' anyone kick me??

It was just so random and funny

BreakingBroken · 15/09/2025 01:44

2013 when my dd became pregnant from a fellow in the uk. I was tasked to find out as much as possible concerning london independent schools.

Equimum · 15/09/2025 03:45

Early 2012 when we started trying for our first child. Cannot remember how I came across MB though.

Andnowshesapreschooler · 15/09/2025 05:46

2015 when I started ttc.

DontGoJasonWaterfalls · 15/09/2025 05:48

September 2013; I found out I was very unexpectedly pregnant at 19 and starting my second year of uni and this was the first site that came up when I looked for advice so I started a thread.

I had amazing support and encouragement. Not sure the thread would go the same way these days, the forum has definitely changed.

176509user · 15/09/2025 05:52

I stumbled on it around 2016 while looking for help regarding my psychologically and financially abusive husband. Mumsnetters helped me get my lightbulb moment and I’ve since divorced him and haven’t looked back.

FeralWoman · 15/09/2025 05:58

Penis beaker. Whenever that was. Someone on my usual forum posted about it. Fucking hilarious thread. Mumsnet was mentioned again during a feminism discussion that it was a pit of vipers in the MN feminism section. I generally disagreed with that person’s opinions so figured I’d check it out because it was probably good.

Seeyouincourtkeith · 15/09/2025 05:59

2002 for me also when pregnant with my first DC. There were not many forums about MN and Netmums were the main ones. Netmums was so not me and I have been here ever since. I think MN has changed my view on many many things over those years as well as many laughs.

Dorb · 15/09/2025 05:59

Discovered Mumsnet years and years ago. I was on Netmums and all the posters kept referring to this awful site called Mumsnet where all the posters were absolute witches and there was no moderation. Of course I had to try it out and that was it - never looked back 😄

Netmums was really terrible wasn't it?!

autienotnaughty · 15/09/2025 06:26

Around 2021 when I read something about it online. I vaguely heard of it before but decided to have a go. I love it, it’s like a massive social conversation without the stress of normal social interactions. I use it everyday

PermanentTemporary · 15/09/2025 06:30

Just before ds was born in 2004 I bought ‘Mumsnet on babies’ from Borders at one of their late evening openings that Dh and I used to love. Ventured on here when breastfeeding was turning out to be a shitshow and never left.

K0OLA1D · 15/09/2025 06:31

2011 at 21 when I was pregnant with DS1. There was a sticker on some nappies with 'Voted for by mumsnet' so I googled mumsnet and I've been here ever since

SparklyGlitterballs · 15/09/2025 06:31

Can't remember what year I joined but was within the last 10 years. I'd googled something and a MN thread came up in the results. I had a nose around the boards and got a bit addicted. I wish I'd been aware of it when my DC were small (now young adults) as it would have been very useful.

weegiemum · 15/09/2025 06:34

Just after ds (dc2) was born in 2002. He’s 23 now. Came across it randomly - I’d been on babyworld to begin with (and am still in touch with some of the women from my antenatal club on there) but found mn to be much more my style!

IHaveRunOutOfIdeas · 15/09/2025 06:40

Around 2005… I was on Bad Mothers Club and a thread was mentioned so came to look. I started visiting more often then when BMC closed I started coming here daily.

JustGoClickLikeALightSwitch · 15/09/2025 06:45
  1. Pregnant with DD and googling the reputation of local primary schools, which led me to Mn.
mellongoose · 15/09/2025 06:46

2014 when pregnant with DD. I was looking for an answer to a particular question and googled. Net mums came up and I couldn’t get on with it at all. They all seemed very young. Found MN and have been addicted ever since!!

Have had good advice on breast feeding, trying to conceive, losing DD2, relationships, fitness, work, menopause. My little family is still together and thriving (if slightly skint) in no small part due to the help I have received from MNetters x

snemrose · 15/09/2025 06:48

Around 2010 - my friend told me about a batshit thread where a mum was furious that the nanny wouldn’t make fresh homemade pasta 🤣
Then got sucked in by so many witty posters and great advice. It has changed a lot but back in 2010 posters were moaning that it had changed a lot then too!

overmydeadbody · 15/09/2025 06:48

2005

Can't remember how I found it though.
