noblegiraffe · 13/09/2025 19:35

Elon Musk appeared via video link today at Tommy Robinson's Racist March wittering on about woke mind viruses and calling for the dissolution of parliament.

All I really want to say is FUCK OFF ELON MUSK.

I've watched footage where people have gone into migrant hotels. It's all clearly posted on notice boards that have been filmed, along with some discussions with the migrants themselves. I can't give you links I'm afraid but i'm sure a bit of research would reveal all.

Ah, your best mate's brother's auntie knows a bloke whose girlfriend's sister said it...

Why can't you just admit you have made a mistake? It's the constant repetition of these lies that causes the problems.

There are charities which give asylum seekers phones and other items to bring a little happiness. Charities are free to do that. People are free to donate to those charities. The government is not funding that. Frankly, if you think that asylum seekers should live joyless existences and that their children, for instance, should not have toys, you're a not very nice person.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 15/09/2025 19:46

pointythings · 15/09/2025 19:41

Where's the bit about the mobile phones, driving lessons and entertainment?
And of course you know full well that if an asylum seeker is housed in a hotel providing food, they get £9 a week. For everything else - and these are not the kind of hotels that provide laundry services, toiletries and so on. In fact, they are run down dumps which were going out of business as hotels and whose owners are now raking it in...

And if an asylum seeker gets ill, are you happy to leave them to get worse or die? Or do you want them to pay for their care out of their princely £9 a week? You're really not thinking this through

Note that it was the conservative gov't that signed the contracts in 2019.

These types of videos are posted by people with an agenda. They aren't upfront about their motives. And speaking to migrants? I though part of the problem was that migrants don't speak English? Maybe the migrants didn't understand what was being asked of them and didn't have enough English to say, yes, I was given a basic mobile phone by a refugee charity so I can ring my parents back in Sudan. If they're still alive.

As you said, "A bit of research"

"People seek asylum in the UK
because they are fleeing persecution, conflict, human rights abuses, and other crises in their home countries, and the UK is a signatory to the 1951 Geneva Convention on Refugees. Additionally, schemes have been put in place for individuals displaced by the conflict in Ukraine or those who aided British forces in Afghanistan, creating a pathway for their protection in the UK."

Simple Google AI search for: why do people seek asylum in the UK. Try it.

I don’t generally trust videos and photos any more as its so easy to fake them

a video was saying how dead vegas was and it was heaving…same with benidorm

I've seen one of these videos, some bloke pretending to be a workman to get into a migrant hotel - lots of 'Oh, look at this 4 star luxury hotel with 4 poster beds being given to migrants'.

What it actually showed was a hotel that had been empty for years, left to go to rack and ruin and now housed migrants in cramped rooms with cheap furniture and bad food. There was, as I remember, one four poster bed, which surprise, surprise, had not been purchased especially for the migrant occupants but was a tatty remnant from the previous incarnation of the hotel.

Any dialogue the filmer had with residents was leading and not a little bullying.

I’m sure you’ve seen these videos, but they are often set up to be misleading to benefit a specific agenda.
If you Google asylum support U.K. and click on the link from gov.uk you can see exactly what asylum seekers get from the government. Charities can and do provide some stuff but not at tax payer cost, and mainly these are unwanted or older items.
I’ve been in some hotels and I wouldn’t stay if paid - they’re dire. But they make money for their owners - whilst not providing much for the asylum seeker - that’s where hotel costs go.

So my choice is to believe some randomer on YouTube or the .gov website listing what asylum seekers are entitled to. Yeah, that's an easy choice.

noblegiraffe · 15/09/2025 20:48

I'm not a sheep, I don't believe the mainstream media!

I get my opinions from random videos on TikTok! Totally legit! Totally factual!

Where does it say that they’ll be given clothes, phones, entertainment, driving
lessons? Ot that they will leapfrog over everyone and go straight to the top of the housing list?

They’re given basic accommodation whilst their asylum claim is assessed. They either get £49 per week for all meals or only £9.95 if their accommodation provides food.

Have you tried living on £9.95 a week?

What is this jealousy of people who have so little and live in poverty?

Are you using them as a proxy for your resentment of immigrants who have done well in the UK?

How convenient 😂

The trouble is you probably think every brown person is an asylum seeker, even third generation immigrants.

freshpyjamas · 15/09/2025 21:04

For ladies on both sides of this debate - Triggernometry just released a video reporting from the ground at the rally. It’s a really balanced view and only 18 minutes long so not a huge time sucker.

I love Konstantin though so maybe more enjoyable for me to watch than others who might not be a fan.

I was feeling quite depressed by this thread. Then I looked at the voting.

It reminded me that the noxious stream of vitriol spewed by the likes of TR is coming from a frightened minority.

85% agree with the OP.

Its just a few who follow this line of thought and are wittingly or unwittingly sowing more division and hate. So instead of feeling depressed I have taken heart that most people are not xenophobic, ignorant racists.

TR et al appear to have given license to split with common decency and humanity (free speech, my arse, more like hate speech), but they are not winning. They are just noisy.

The crisis engulfing Keir Starmer has deepened on the eve of Donald Trump’s visit to the UK after the resignation of a third senior ally in two weeks raised further questions about the stability of his government.

Paul Ovenden quit as the prime minister’s director of political strategy after the publication of old WhatsApp messages in which Ovenden relayed lewd jokes made at a party about the Labour MP Diane Abbott.

His resignation comes after a bruising two weeks in which Starmer has overseen the departures of both his deputy prime minister, Angela Rayner, and his US ambassador, Peter Mandelson.

Starmer has also been under pressure from his own MPs after a mass far-right rally in London over the weekend. The government’s response to the rally was deemed to be weak.

The first deportation of a Channel migrant under Sir Keir Starmer’s “one in, one out” deal with France was cancelled at the last minute.

The Telegraph understands that one migrant was due to be flown from Heathrow to Paris on an Air France passenger flight on Monday, but the flight was postponed amid protests by charities and threats of legal action.

Doh!

noblegiraffe · 15/09/2025 21:20

Perhaps Starmer will pass on the nation’s wishes to Elon Musk that he fuck off via his ex boss Trump?

Otherwise I’m not sure of the relevance to this thread.

It doesn't change the fact that under this government deportations have increased by north of 20%. But of course in Tommy World, a single failed deportation wipes all that out.

Elon Musk should fuck off because a migrant wasn’t deported?
