noblegiraffe · 13/09/2025 19:35

Elon Musk appeared via video link today at Tommy Robinson's Racist March wittering on about woke mind viruses and calling for the dissolution of parliament.

All I really want to say is FUCK OFF ELON MUSK.

That which is asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.

So you don't agree that it was the biggest protest in British history?

poetryandwine · 15/09/2025 01:14

No, @Lemonandorangecheescake , this march was very far from the biggest march in British history. Estimates of the count range from 110,000 to 150,000z

Estimates of the count for the Stop the War March in London on 15 Feb 2003 range from
750,000 to 2,000,000.

Well net migration roughly halved in 2024 so I guess he might be doing something right in terms of what the country seems to want.

Ever considered why that might be? Nearly 1/3 more people also left the UK in 2024 than 2023, the economy is / has been tanking so it will naturally reduce.

I'm not for the march, but even I can see from the drone footage there has been some meddling with the numbers. Compare both matches I hate to say it but I think we are being told lies as to the number of people who attended.

Lemonandorangecheescake · 14/09/2025 23:40

I don't need to 'make out' the support for yesterday's march. The facts speak for themselves. Just cast your eyes over the sheer numbers of people who descended onto London. Amazing.

Yes, it was amazing, wasn't it?.😊

Lemonandorangecheescake · 15/09/2025 00:05

Come on then, prove that most people were against yesterday's march.

By the small number of people who attended. If so many were in favour, there would have been millions, not tens of thousands. Londoners didn't have to travel far to get to the march, nor did people who live in Kent, Essex, Sussex etc. So out of a population we'll in excess of 20 million people who have easy access to London, just over a 100k turned up. Pathetic numbers.

Nagginthenag · 15/09/2025 07:03

Lemonandorangecheescake · 15/09/2025 00:19

In short, you aren't able to put your money where your mouth is.
I don't need to provide evidence to back up what I'm saying, the fact that this was the biggest protest in British history says it all.

Ah, so you're repeating your assertions in the hope that the more often you repeat it, the more folk will think it's true.

Your comment 'this was the biggest protest in British history says it all.' makes you sound exactly like Donald Trump - remember his claims about the crowds at his inauguration and his birthday parade.

No. People on the right on Twitter (so ones with no reason to underplay) who have been estimating crowd size put it at around 400-500,000, which is smaller than the aforementioned Stop the War protest.

Obviously the 'patriots' have been trying to tell people it was 3 million which is hilarious.

I was at the counter protest today. I don’t agree with everything that was said. I’m not a socialist. My politics are more centrist, but I cannot stand by while racism floods our streets, especially when it’s in part being done ‘in my name’ as a woman.
todays events are not being accurately reported. We were corralled into the top of Whitehall and trapped, unable to leave for about five hours by the police because Trafagar square was full of threatening idiots with flags throwing cans and bottles of piss at us and the police. Children were crying and scared and had to be led out surrounded by riot police. When we did eventually get to go it was pretty scary walking through the lines of riot police with the threats and projectiles coming from the other side. We were warned to remove all badges etc before getting on the tube. A young black woman asked to travel with me because everything was so intimidating.
I know people have actual concerns and aren’t liking the political decisions being made, but this is not how we should be treating each other or dealing with it. It just isn’t. I was ashamed of us today.

Similarly - I went to the counter protest on those terms because it’s too important now not to do so imo.
As you describe except I (and group) were turned off to the coach in time to avoid the stuck in Whitehall. A glass bottle just missed my head and being surrounded by ‘patriots’ was scary at one point. On the way at the service station we were told not to wear badges etc (still got shouted at) so I think my free speech is being eroded - but guess mine is the wrong sort of free speech.
Yesterday insurers dropped out of insuring anyone having a stall with ‘views’ at Nottingham Green Festival in case of right wing attacks - so it turned last minute into Nottingham Green Fair - right wing tactics and violence stopping free speech to my mind.
Whilst the protest was about asylum seekers supposedly there were concerning views about women being platformed. This extreme subset wouldn’t even stop at shutting hotels/stopping immigration and we should all be worried.
Musk stirs all pots he can and not for pleb interests. But we should never allow foreign nationals to preach hatred and incite violence- never been so keen on other kinds of preachers doing similar have we, so why is Musk any different? It’s ironic patriots can’t manage with their own views and need Musk to help out - sigh.

YelloDaisy · 15/09/2025 07:36

What I’ve never seen is comments on Musks teens in SArica. - at that time s africa was banned from international sport due to apartheid. I would guess the U.K. was a leading part of that -I would imagine the white South Africans were pretty unhappy about that -it lasted 8years I think. Possibly there was restricted trade too - and if his family come from Boer families that could be held against us too

What?

Do you realise what a commitment that number of people represents? This kind of sneering arrogance is what put Trump into power. Carry on with your haughty dismissal of others views - good luck. And no, not everyone who attended is racist, before you look to play that card.

Unfuckingbelievable.

Unfuckingbelievable.

Except people on this thread have been very dismissive of the views of those who disagree with Yaxley-Lennon's motives, stating that the majority in the UK agree with the march.

Tbh, even if there had been a crowd of a million (which I doubt - I saw a very interesting post yesterday explaining the maths behind it, actually from a supporter of the march, who explained why a crowd of a million plus just wouldn't have been possible), it doesn't show much commitment considering the population who live within an hour of the march site. ETA more people make bigger commitments every week to watch their football team play.

There is no sneering arrogance here, just a real worry in the pit of my stomach as to where this is heading. Anyone who believes incitement to civil unrest is OK has no imagination. People who would rather throw bottles of piss at the police and intimidate women and children (who, ironically, they claim to be marching to protect) rather than doing some actual positive good in their communities do not represent me, or, thankfully, anyone I hold dear.

But everyone who attended chose to March behind a racist with convictions for an array of illegal activities. They chose to listen to SYL, Hopkins, Fox, Musk and Bannon (I know he didn’t turn up in the end) and take banners of Kirk, most of whom are not shy about their racism - or views on what women should do.
I agree re the numbers to an extent, though I think they are scary and disappointing. I think less people would turn out now overall probably than back in early 2000s though whether that is restrictions, fear of expected violence, apathy or cost I don’t know.
Otoh I saw a lot who chose to stop marching/listening and go to the pub instead - to shout from the sidelines, or maybe collect the glass bottles they threw at horses or us ‘lefties’.
I still believe that more people in this country have common humanity than not and will hope the numbers behind SYL et al are their best hit tbh with few at home.

For comparisson, Wembley stadium seats 90,000

People on that march and those supporting it know exactly who Robinson is and what he stands for, stop pretending otherwise.

Stating that the march wasn’t, according to crowd estimates from commentators on the right, the largest march in history is ‘sneering arrogance’?

'Estimates' were just that, estimates. Do you believe everything the MSM tells you?

The Government doesn't want people to know exactly how many were really in attendance, so it makes sure the media downplays the true numbers. Wembley stadium fits 90,000 people, do you honestly think the amount of people in the march could've been seated in less than two Wembley stadiums?

Just look at the footage everywhere, there was clearly so many more people marching than 150,000. The figure was more like nearer to a couple of million.

Lemonandorangecheescake · 15/09/2025 09:06

Petitchat · 15/09/2025 06:53

Yes it was! It was a fabulous show of unity and great to see people coming together to stand up for what's right.

DuncinToffee · 15/09/2025 09:07

Maybe the biggest racist march in the UK?

I did read somewhere that Enoch Powell pulled a bigger crowd but can't be completely sure.

GabrielsOboe · 15/09/2025 09:08

It seems a reasonable assumption that there will be future marches, growing in number - given the absolute calamity that is this Labour government. They simply lurch from one crisis to another.

Let’s see what this week brings.

You sound exactly like Donald Trump, who had The Biggest Inauguration in the History of the United States. Except it wasn’t

Police only want to get the numbers right, for purposes of public safety

I find it amusing how some people will try and convince you that there were only 100,000 to 150,000 max in attendance. Imagine cramming all those people into a stadium 😄

DuncinToffee · 15/09/2025 09:11

It might have been Oswald Mosley who pulled the bigger crowd

Powell, Mosley, Robinson
