It's been 9 horrible months and I find myself looking back on those "eating the cats and dogs" days with nostalgia.

100 yards - but into a moving vehicle.

Kirk had been sitting in the same place for many minutes and his exact location had been set by the gazebo and table.

Its a deer hunting shot not a sniper shot.

Bah - I meant to say 100 yards.

A pistol is very different from a Mauser rifle, especially the one specified @SerendipityJane

Even I know that !😀

But last night when it was all unfurling, I wondered if the throat was a slight miss, and if so whether it was a handgun miss, or a rifle miss ?

Seen a few people saying how nice it was of Kash Patel to give the perp some time to escape.

He looks like he's had a stroke.

Edited

The video footage with the drooping face and the AI speech about Charlie Kirk are doing nothing to dispel the rumours he was seriously unwell and had a stroke. He looks like an ad for FAST in the footage I have seen today.

Who can forget the Portuguese solution ?

Salazar lived for a further 23 months. After he emerged from over one month of coma[172] and unexpectedly recovered lucidity, his intimates did not tell him he had been removed from power, instead allowing him to "rule" in privacy until his death on 27 July 1970.[17]

Spandauer · 11/09/2025 18:37

Trump says he will posthumously award Charlie Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honour.

As my DF used to say: "Two wrongs don't make a right" but here we are.

Pah ! Mere trinkets. We need a decent marching song.

Historians will get it ...

Igotjelly · 11/09/2025 19:30

He’s definitely looking really unwell.

DuncinToffee · 11/09/2025 19:37

Isn't he giving Giuliani the same medal?

Yes that’s right.

YankTank · 11/09/2025 19:55

Why would the Melon Felon give the Medal of Freedom to someone who was calling for the release of the Epstein Files?

not posthumously though, although someone did nearly take him out.

FirstCuppa · 11/09/2025 20:04

I think it used to be called the Black Spot

DuncinToffee · 11/09/2025 20:28

Bolsonaro is found guilty of plotting a military coup following his loss to Lula in the Brazilian Presidential Election.

MsJinks · 11/09/2025 20:36

Maybe he could instead honour Charlie Kirk’s wishes in his memory, and release the Epstein files 🤔

CaveMum · 11/09/2025 20:45

Thanks to everyone that shared their 9/11 stories, and sending much love to those who were directly affected. My own memories are of hearing about the initial crash on the radio whilst holding mares for the farrier, and like others assuming it meant a light aircraft, followed by receiving updates from a colleague who had her Walkman (remember those?!) on as she strimmed the next field. After work finished me and my house mate went home and sat on the floor (we were mid house move and our sofa had already gone to the new house!) open mouthed watching the rolling news. Our boss was in the US visiting family at the time and was stranded for a good week before he could get home, he ended up taking about 4 different flights in the end.

God ... just remembered a team got caught up in the US and couldn't get back for what seemed ages.

I had to fly to Germany the month after and it was all a bit surreal.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 11/09/2025 20:59

Checking in.

Talkinpeace · 11/09/2025 20:59

Very outing but sod it.
Dad worked opposite the World Trade Center.
He walked home after the first impact.
The collapse damaged his building such that he was unable to collect belongings from his desk till March.
After he died I found his rolodex, still open at Bear Stearns and encrusted in dust from the towers.
I keep it in a sealed bag

I'm so sorry. All brings it back

CaveMum · 11/09/2025 21:11

Sending you love @Talkinpeace, that must have been so traumatic for your dad.

We visited the 9/11 Memorial in 2013, shortly before the museum opened. It was so surreal and I couldn’t help but shed a few tears reading the names around the reflection pools.

There’s a documentary that Channel 4 show most years, I haven’t seen if it’s on this year yet, called 102 Minutes That Changed America. It’s made purely using footage recorded by tv cameras and the general public from the moment the first plane hit to the collapse of the second tower. There’s no commentary, just the occasional text slide that gives some context, and the soundtrack of day to day life. It’s very powerful.

Talkinpeace · 11/09/2025 21:18

@CaveMum
It knocked the stuffing out of the city.
Then in 2012 was Hurricane Sandy and the week long power cut.
I am just glad that dad died before Trump was re elected.
At least Covid taught him that universal healthcare might just be a good thing.

OrangeCrushes · 11/09/2025 21:21

I was on a study abroad programme from my American university. During an Italian lesson, our professor burst into the room and shouted that the Twin Towers had been attacked.

I was quite an immature idiot and didn't immediately understand the implications of what had happened. All I could think is that everything is now unsafe and how could I get in a plane again.

All of us students went out, wandering the streets in shock, and found ourselves in a hotel lobby where they were showing the footage.

I watched the US transform from afar during that term. When I came home, I was totally weirded out to see patriotic Christmas lights for the first time ever.

JoshLymanSwagger · 11/09/2025 07:38

Just watched it again. You're right. It jumps/skips. There's no way that was done in one take.

I just fwd this to DH because I couldn't get past more than 30 seconds of Trump. He said I sounded like a conspiracy theorist as I relayed your comments. As soon as opened the link on his phone he said “oh yeah, I know what you mean. It does have an uncanny valley quality.” I thought Trump’s hands didn’t look puffy enough.
