A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Has anybody read the thread about the country being pushed to the far right?

I have so many responses / counter arguments I could make to respond to the comments made by voters on the left, but just can't be arsed to get into a debate. The sense of superiority emanating from some of them is just 🙄

Yeh same here. They don't want to listen and are only interested in throwing around insults.
They are panicking, they've finally realised the way in which the majority have finished with Labour.
I decided to save my sanity and breath.

And then for anyone who thinks Farage isn't actually serious about the next election. I feel this cements their plans to actually win the next election:

I really don't see Reform as the answer. They're as economically illiterate as Labour, just in a different way. The country won't be saved by them as they simply don't have the talent (which party actually does these days, mind?!) to be able to run the country well.

The Tories really do need to buck their ideas up and quickly.

I just looked yep agree. I guess mn will be like this as so many pushed for Labour at the last GE.

I don't think the majority of their voters are liking for Reform to "save" them, they just don't want Labour or Tories. I too would like Tories to get their act together but unfortunately I just can't see it. They are too tainted by the last 14 years and I feel that it will take another election cycle for them to get their shit together.

No, I appreciate that. But the country is certainly not going to be any better off than now with Reform in government.

I think the best we can hope for (dear god!) is a Reform / Tory coalition to keep the economics more stable.

Don't disagree with that I just think Tories are too weak for Farage to want to join up with. I really feel that he wants to win this on his own, without a coalition

ONE bloke and the lawyers have stopped the flight 🤣🤣🤣

There's a certain irony in this isn't there. Starmer spent inordinate amounts of time stopping the conservatives from getting illegals on a flight and lo and behold Karma has slapped him round the face with a Kipper. Wonder how he's feeling this morning.

Honestly these debates are ridiculous, there is lots I would like to say too but it would just fall on deaf ears. It’s enough for me to know with certainty what’s coming for Labour in the not too distant future.

Yes agree.

GabrielsOboe · 16/09/2025 07:58

The key is to get Labour out.

Remember, Starmer will do all he can to
remain in government, including giving the vote to anyone he thinks will support him.

He’s a nasty POW.

The problem is Fluff, it wouldn't be a debate. It would just be a dogpile of nastiness and name calling, there's no debating with far left (see wht I did there😁) zealots. You're best staying out of it.

But wait! I read somewhere yesterday which I can't find now! he almost said he has complete confidence in himself, I almost got excited his kiss of death had happened.

The UK’s jobs market has continued to cool, according to official figures, amid a slowdown in annual pay growth and rising redundancies.
Figures from the Office for National Statistics(ONS) show annual growth in regular earnings, excluding bonuses, slowed to 4.8% in the three months to July, down from 5% in the three months to June, matching the forecasts of City economists.

Yes. I saw the thread, scanned it. Eye rolled and moved on. Labour are finished so let them thrash about throwing insults etc etc. 🤷‍♀️

Same. Lots of wailing about it being a big conspiracy/ the media’s fault rather than a reflection of real sentiment. A couple have accused labour of being right wing, which is about where I stopped reading

upseedaisee · 16/09/2025 08:32

This makes more sense about Charlie Kirks murderer. So despite coming from a Republican family I believe, he didn't share the same political views.

Speaking on Mr Kirk's podcast on Monday, Mr Vance saod: "We have to talk about this incredibly destructive movement of left-wing extremism that has grown up over the last few years, and I believe is part of the reason why Charlie was killed by an assassin's bullet."
Later, while speaking with White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, Mr Vance said the Trump administration is trying to stop "festering violence from the far-left from spreading".
He also claimed, referencing a YouGov poll carried out after Mr Kirk's death: "People on the left are much likelier to defend and celebrate political violence. This is not a 'both sides' problem."

Charlie Kirk: JD Vance says 'left-wing extremism' contributed to killing - as 'confession message' revealed

The vice president said an "incredibly destructive" left-wing movement "is part of the reason why Charlie was killed by an assassin's bullet" while hosting the influencer's show from the White House.

I think, we had some more in common polling, although not recently - that showed tolerance for political violence correlated strongly with how much time people spent online.

I think that if that's the case, then there's not much hope that this will get any better. We've always had violent nutters around but this celebration of silencing/ harming/ killing those who you find disagreeable is absolutely frightening.

Nobody in the fleeing the uk if reform thread seems to understand anything about European politics - oooh I’m off to France - the country that can’t keep a prime
minister, ok then! Most of Europe hasn’t been this divided since the 1920s and 1930s.

the idea the grass is greener shows a fundamental lack political understanding.

Canada - the populist nearly won there but Carney got lucky with his standing up to Trump stuff.

good luck to them…

Upstartled · 16/09/2025 08:46

And, fwiw, I don't think there is much overlap between Kirk's and my own opinions. But the spirit of going into the public square and building a discussion in which you welcome people to challenge your opinions without the mask of faceless anonymity is quite refreshing and to do so while remaining polite and civil is the necessary antidote to this othering of those who disagree. And I'd welcome that from all sides. But you'd have to be hard as nails to make that intervention.

France? Will they all come back when Marine Le Pen has puppeteered her way in to power?

Rivalled · 16/09/2025 08:50

Well quite - France is horribly and understandably divided - Macron may be the last economically liberal president. And as for when they start rocketing in taxes on ex pats….

Or just when they realise they don’t speak the language beyond ou est le centre ville? And the French dislike them? And the political / financial situation is dire? 🤷‍♀️
