I like the summer but lots of people say they prefer autumn and some say winter because of Christmas, my mum says spring because it’s full of anticipation.
what time of year do you like?

Any day when the sky is blue. I prefer it warm but a crisp blue sky is also uplifting.

Definitely Autumn (Sept, Oct, Nov).
Then late spring/early summer (April, May, June)
Then Early winter (December)
Then summer (July, August)
The worst by far is January and February. Awful.

Spring!
though I love early autumn colours of the leaves, those sunny autumn days, Halloween, bonfire nights.

spring is mentally better for me - suffer from SAD, daffodils in the house and just the freshness and newness in the air

When I worked I hardly noticed the seasons, when I was a young single parent, it was the same.

now I'm old, I really enjoy all seasons. Spring looks so lovely with all its daffodils and tulips, summer is glorious with the bedding plants my adult child put in our gardens, Autumn has it's pleasures too. The red of the trees, the comfort of warmer clothes and bed ing, not to mention SCD and winter is xmas, birthdays twinkle lights and celebrations.

each season has it's beauty and comfort, if you look for it.

June. Maximum daylight and warm weather. July is good too but by mid to end of August it is often too autumnal for my taste. i think my tolerance for autumn and winter is lessening with age too as I'm already fed up of the rain and cold and how early it's getting dark now, though today was a bit better. Roll on next spring, though I shouldn't wish my time away.

Summer. There’s absolutely nothing about winter that I like.

SeaAndStars · 08/09/2025 22:02

@user1471453601 I loved your post and absolutely agree.

SouthernNights59 · 08/09/2025 22:04

Autumn is my favourite season, but I live in NZ and autumn is mostly warm and sunny here. Summer would be my next favourite. I like to feel warm. It's spring here, but still a little on the chilly side for me.

Livpool · 08/09/2025 22:04

Spring and summer! They lift my spirits

pambeesleyhalpert · 08/09/2025 22:05

🍂 autumn

ProfessionalWhimsicalSkidaddler · 08/09/2025 22:07

I think it’s the change. So I love summer and felt so lucky this year as we had a great one but now there’s a cool breeze, I’m really appreciative and I can go back to my baggy knitted jumpers that hide my sins. I adore Christmas and a small amount of winter. I don’t think anything beats that first bit of summer where you feel the sun on your skin again.

Autumn and winter

ninjahamster · 08/09/2025 22:09

Winter. But I like Autumn too. I like cold weather, dark nights. blankets and fluffy socks. Window open, snug under duvet. Snow, ice, frost.

Pricelessadvice · 08/09/2025 22:11

September is my favourite month. I feel so much happier and more content in September. I love the way the sunlight looks and feels and the smell in the air.

hexsnidgett · 08/09/2025 22:12

I like long cold nights, but not keen on Christmas, so January to March is probably my absolute favourite time. Free from sweatiness and expectations.

This is exactly how I feel about the months and seasons! I always feel a little melancholy around mid-late August as the inevitable is coming!

I’ve thought about this long and hard in the past and realised what I love best is the change of season, the feeling of something new to look forward to.

Spring 🌼 🌱 🐑

Unforgettablefire · 08/09/2025 22:15

Summer.
Cold, wet, miserable Winter should just piss right off.

Goodness I find the end of summer rather unsettling and feel out of sorts until we are well into October.

Onetwobuckeroo · 08/09/2025 22:18

I agree 100% x

Wheech · 08/09/2025 22:20

Spring, when everything is new and coming back to life. The birdsong, blossom and lighter nights. Starting to hang laundry out regularly to dry and the blossom giving way to fresh green leaves.

I hate November and December the most. At least in January you're over the hump of the worst. I miss liking Christmas, it made winter bearable but now that I'm a single parent and my own parents are ailing it's just too stressful financially and bittersweet.

TaupeMember · 08/09/2025 22:21

Spring

Autumn

I like both changes into a different mode, speing is full of brighter, lighter weather and I'm refreshed and ready to go, whereas in autumn its dropping down a gear to stay home more, with snuggly blankets and rest.

I like how the seasons change.

I love winter. I love cosy nights, candles, hot water bottles ect. Halloween decorations and Christmas lights. I even like dark mornings and evenings but that could be because I absolutely hate hot weather!

But do you not have to drive to work? That extra 10 mins in the dark of de icing then de misting, then the glare of headlights and the potholes filled with rain, maybe snow but more likely the black ice.

The overcrowded overheated shops and the freezing rain outside. The lost scarves, gloves, and layers you have to peel off and get dropped or left behind.

The endless pressure of Christmas spending from now onwards. Kidding yourself you’ll not be in the overheated overcrowded shops everyday in the two weeks before like every year.

At least in January the pressures off. Light is trickling back into the day and every day is closer to the misery being over.

I agree there is a downside of finally getting all the kids in the car ready to leave and realising you need to de ice is an absolute killer. But isn’t a deal breaker for me! 😂
