What are you doing today?

Today so far it’s cold, spitting with rain and super windy.
I’ve just done a dog walk, then been to the pharmacy to pick up a new prescription (today will be my first day on sertraline, I’m a bit nervous!).
I’ve just got home, so I’m cuddling with my cat before I’ve got to go to work at 11.
I’ll be finishing around 4, so then I’ll be doing another dog walk (not mine! it’s my work), then heading back home which I need to get on with cleaning. I need to wash up, put new bedding on, and wash then fold the laundry (I’m so behind with laundry!)
I’ll start on dinner afterwards, my partner won’t be home until about 11pm-midnight, so I’ll have a snack after work to tide me over.
I’m making chicken stew with parsley mashed potatoes, I love this time of year, it’s so cosy!

So, a pretty boring, yet cosy day for me.
What about you?

Working my 9-5 job (today is an office day), commuting home (1 hr 15), feeding my animals and making dinner, and then starting my evening remote job from 7pm to midnight! Hopefully it won't be busy this evening so I can do some cleaning/chores in between.

Klozza · 03/09/2025 14:11

I love threads like this 😂
It was my sons first day of ‘big school’ today, starting reception, so I took him there at 8.30am. Then my little girl starts nursery tomorrow, so packing her little bag ready. I’ve done 2 virtual job interviews today (after being made redundant in April) and I have another at 2.30pm.

I’ve got to pick my son up at 3.20pm, debating whether to walk it or drive it, it’s only like a 25 minute walk but it POURING down with rain here 🙃

Gonna pop to Morrisons to grab some bits for dinner, we’re making a Cottage Pie, but with vegetarian mince as my partners veggie, and with sliced potatoes on top rather than mashed potatoes because I don’t like them mashed. You mentioning changing the bedding has reminded me I need to do mine actually! I’ll probably harrass the cat for a bit, by which I mean I’ll hold him for cuddles and kisses whilst he reluctantly lets me. Then I’ll do some Linkedin learning courses whilst dinners cooking to help with the job search. Then bathing the kids, and bed for them. My lifes very monotonous at the moment without a job 😭

Side note to OP, I’m also on Sertraline, I’ve been on and off it for 14 years now, and I find it has the least amount of side effects of any other anti-anxiety/anti-depression med for me personally, and I’ve tried a fair few. Currently on 150mg, the first couple of days on it can be a bit ick, I struggle to sleep, it makes my vision a bit weird and I feel a bit sick, but it eases up by day 3. I hope it works okay for you! 🩷

Where did you find an evening remote job?

IMissSparkling · 03/09/2025 14:17

Working. Just finishing my lunch break and then I'll be right back to it. I'd bloody love to piss around cuddling cats and making stew on a Wednesday but alas the mortgage needs paid.

It's a claim handling role - taking insurance claim notifications out of hours (I do some weekends too!). Essentially taking calls and logging info.

I have an insurance background from my main job but a lot of my colleagues are students or just doing this for extra income so experience isn't needed. If you're interested I can DM you the company, I think they're doing another intake soon.

Training a new lollypop man

KelsCommemorativeSausage · 03/09/2025 14:22

Working, then getting the child from school and going to the dentist.
Also having chicken stew later! Possibly with noodles.

mondaytosunday · 03/09/2025 14:30

after breakfast and taking care of cats/dog had nice chat with DD who is doing a series of online interviews with professors and educational bod for her research internship (she interviews them). She needs to debrief after each one.
She is making focaccia for our pasta and meatballs dinner - or rather she made the dough and has gone back upstairs to work and I’m in charge of kneading/rising/kneading schedule! In between I’m finishing up my first crochet hexagon cardi (so many ends to weave in). I also (guilty guilty) spent £200 on Christmas garland/wreath/decorations plus a couple things for Halloween. We were to go to the US for Xmas but my son couldn’t get the time off work so trying to make it look extra special as it will just be the three of us and he’ll only be home for 36 hours! So that’s the afternoon now and then the pasta dinner while watching Bloodline (I’ve seen it before but DD hasn’t and we love a family drama).

Yes please, that would be great! Thank you.

I’m working two of my jobs today and I’m doing both of those things whilst also paying my rent 😊

Writing social media posts for my employer, writing reports, writing email templates.

Not the most exciting day. 😊

Catpiece · 03/09/2025 14:58

Nothing. Just how I like it.

StuntAcorn · 03/09/2025 15:06

Just wading through a lot of paperwork and work emails.
First day back to school for DCs tomorrow so chivvying them to get their stuff packed and organised so it's mayhem in the morning.

Mum2Fergus · 03/09/2025 15:07

Packing, taking DS to Dublin then up to Belfast for his birthday.

StuntAcorn · 03/09/2025 15:08

@kellygoeswest please could you dm me too 🙏.
Thank you!

AquaShark · 03/09/2025 15:11

It's the last day of the summer holiday here and we've been quite lazy.
Popped to the vets for anti flee treatment for our cats. Had coffee and cake out with my son. Then we made sausage rolls for lunch.
Lazy afternoon, faffing on phone and reading a book.
I've done some laundry and cleaned a bathroom.
Then this evening I'm out to teach a fitness class but home afterwards for a pasta tea.

Milliemoons · 03/09/2025 15:13

I have a 3 year old and 3 month old. It’s pretty intense here! I’ve wiped bottoms, handled tantrums, talked about our feelings, coloured, done Lego, painted pasta and made a necklace, baked, read books, changed nappies, done nap time, bath time, two loads of laundry, cleaned downstairs… that’s just stretching the surface. Can’t wait to hit the hay in a few hours.

I just tried to DM you but I think you have DM's off!

If you go to: Settings > Talk Settings and scroll to "Private Messages" it should let you unblock them. Let me know if it works and I'll send the info over :)

StuntAcorn · 03/09/2025 15:35

Oh I didn't know that, thank you @kellygoeswest
Hopefully will work now!

troppibambini6 · 03/09/2025 15:39

Two ds’s are back to school today one in Y6 and one starting secondary. Dd2 is back tomorrow so I’ve had a gang of 14 year old girls at mine. I did ask her to try and not take over the whole house as I’m trying to get the house in some kind of order after the holidays.
The police came to see me this morning as we were burgled and both our cars taken when we were on holiday.
Tonight is a mix of activities for the kids… Thai boxing, boxing, football and a hair appointment for dd.

What are you being so arsey for? OP has said she is working today. I hope this job of yours isn’t reliant on the ability to read.

And me - my son needs extra money as he's saving up.

Duchesscheshire · 04/09/2025 19:55

Met friend for a coffee this morning in support of local cancer hospice. Came home, other friend dropped in for a coffee. Did some research online and via phone calls about Angela Raynes situation. I run a charity supporting families through and after clinical negligence for their children. Angela having this tax issue has worried families so tried to get the facts. In our world trust only has child as beneficiary. Confused about Angela's story. Cleaner turned up and made my house lovely. Man turned up to measure for new blind. Made tea and ate with son 24. Younger son 21 staying on at girlfriends. Currently.waiting for home made apple crumble to cook to have as pud. Nice day.

I've been working (from home) - had quite a few calls today, for one of which I was beamed into the office in Paris so I switched the camera on and swore I was fine that they did the whole thing in French. IT topic so I do struggle a bit with vocab. DH went to see a Jules Verne interactive exhibition which he didn't think was that good. Dd flew to Porto with her bf, so I watched (ish) her flight on Flight Radar like a sad muppet. Her Airbnb looks lovely though and was very cheap. I made schnitzel and pasta for dinner. Might watch some TV before bed. Yesterday was much less interesting 😁
