How can Harry and Meghan regain the support of their future subjects?

If their future subjects don’t support them, will that collapse the monarchy?

What on earth are you talking about? What family tragedy are you envisaging that would result in Harry being king?

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 01/09/2025 19:29

They haven't got any future subjects because H isn't going to be king.

HollyhockDays · 01/09/2025 19:30

What future subjects? King and Queen of Montecito?

Only kings and queens have subjects. Harry has stepped away from being a royal.

LittleGreenDragons · 01/09/2025 19:34

Who are you talking about OP? Because you aren't really making sense .

I think you forgotten how the monarchy works.

Harry is the future Kings brother. He and his family will soon fade into obscurity. Once george has had children and his children have had children. No one will know who prince harry is.

He will go the same way as Princess Margaret. She was once hugely popular as the late Queen's little sister.
Now, I don't even remember her children's names and wouldn't recognize them if I saw them. Would you recognise princess Margaret's children if they pass you in the street?

That's how harry and his children will go. He has no future in the royal family in any event.

Arlanymor · 01/09/2025 19:36

Currently five people have to die for Harry to be King - really don’t see that happening given that three are younger than him. Are you unaware of how succession works in the UK royal family?

BashfulClam · 01/09/2025 19:37

Harry will never be King, for that to happen, William, George, Charlotte and Louis would all need to pass away. He is currently 5th in line and for each child born to his Nephews and Niece it pushes him down a slot. If each of them had just 1 child he would slip another 3 places to 8th.

OneSharpFinch · 01/09/2025 19:41

Assuming William wants the job for himself and his children.

Peter phillips is a good example. When he was born, he was the late queen's first grandchild. 5th in line to the throne.

Now he is 19th because he is one of many grandchildren and great grandchildren of the late queen now.

With every birth, he slipped down a slot, and he will only keep going down.

I think we'd know by now if he didn't........

Enrichetta · 01/09/2025 19:43

But but but…….. I thought the ‘duchess’ is Princess of Montecito - so won’t she become queen of California when Charles falls off this mortal coil……. Isn’t this how it works?

hyggetyggedotorg · 01/09/2025 19:47

To answer OPs question, no. Harry is the King’s second son.

The monarchy has not fallen apart because of Queen Elizabeth’s second son being neither likeable nor respectable.

LargeChestofDrawers · 01/09/2025 19:51

Subjects?!

Maybe Harry could come over with an army on horseback, delivering cake to the peasants and shoes to the shoeless children as he and his men go from village to village? That should gain him the support of his subjects, do you think? Oh, and this would be after he'd secretly buried William and William's kids beneath the stairs in the Tower....

Peptalk2025 · 01/09/2025 19:57

Subjects? Are we in the 1300s?

Vaxtable · 01/09/2025 19:58

They will never be king and queen therefore have no subjects

ShesTheAlbatross · 01/09/2025 19:59

OneSharpFinch · 01/09/2025 19:41

He can’t abdicate on their behalf. If he abdicated, George would be king until he turned 18 and could decide otherwise.
Harry would be regent, but I believe parliament has the final say there and could rule him out and give it to whoever they want. Probably Kate if William had died, maybe Edward. And I don’t think William would abdicate anyway, but certainly not with an heir under 18.

AcquadiP · 01/09/2025 20:01

You don't understand line of succession do you?
