RFK jr says he will reveal cause of autism?

Has anyone seen this?

He claims he will reveal what it is in September.

Not sure I believe it to be honest and I have a feeling whatever answer he gives won't be definitive but will blame a whole range of possible things. I've done a Google search for those who haven't heard anything about it and there are lots of articles but I always see people get attacked based on which source they give so don't know which ones to link to?

Wow. I'm counting down the minutes. My bet is on uncontrolled immigration.

Apparently in October he's revealing the identity of Jack the Ripper. November is the solution to the mystery of the Marie Celeste

OhNoNotSusan · 30/08/2025 08:48

he is dangerous

Saucery · 30/08/2025 09:00

It will be the fault of women, somehow.

Sarah2891 · 30/08/2025 09:02

Please don't give this nonsense another thought. It's obviously BS.

AnnaMagnani · 30/08/2025 09:10

If he knows, why wait?

I'm interested to hear what they say.

Part of me thinks well surely they'll figure it out one day, this could be that time. But then I don't trust any part of the American medical industry, they're all corrupt as they come.

Good question

Given it’s coming from him, I highly doubt it has any genuine medical backing to it and it is likely to just be inflammatory ignorance.

lljkk · 30/08/2025 09:24

Sounds like a Trump announcement, "I'll tell you later my big information!" then, eventually makes some vaguely related highly crazy claims with no evidence beyond anecdotes.

If "the cause" is known, given how important RFK thinks autism is, why not reveal it NOW and implement policies NOW to prevent future cases? Unless he's saying the cause is something we can't change (genetics) or due to long term environmental exposure (would take many resources to reduce so needs govt to spend money or people to hugely change their lives).

If "cause" is some specific vaccine then he could stop it being distributed today, at least partly, so presumably not going to fully blame any vaccine?

LittleYellowQueen · 30/08/2025 09:25

Seeing as autism is simply part of the spectrum of humanity, not really sure how he's discovered the cause. We already know. It's genetic. They all treat autism as if it's a defect. Maybe it's society that's defective.

Onceuponatimethen · 30/08/2025 09:30

Maybe he’s going to reveal he’s been secretly working in a genome sequencing project and shock horror it’s genetic (who knew!!)

BananaCaramel · 30/08/2025 09:45

If you watch the recent interview with trump he’s going to say it’s vaccines - if you’re going to be a twat you could at least be original about it 🙄

Nothing “causes” autism - it’s a variation in human experience like many other things and while many people experience being autistic as a disability, it is not inherently bad.

BertieBotts · 30/08/2025 09:48

Well of course he bloody won't, that's like saying he will release "the cure for cancer" at Christmas, science doesn't work like that, there is no one definitive thing which can be revealed in one go. That is a cartoon character idea of science.

It will be a load of nonsense to further his political agenda.

Mumofteenandtween · 30/08/2025 09:53

Evolution presumably.

Cave people needed someone in their group who was willing to obsess over the fire and make sure it didn’t go out. They also needed someone who never got tired and so was willing to chase the antelope (or whatever cave people ate) and catch it so they could all eat. And they needed neurotypical people who were able to do all the other things that cave people did.

And so cave groups that survived and flourished and reproduced were those that had a mix of neurotypical and neurodiverse people in.

(Note I don’t know much about cave people so I am a bit making this up but evolution works by rewarding the people who are able to survive and reproduce. Therefore as neurodiversity exists in such high numbers it must have been necessary for survival.)

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 30/08/2025 09:54

I rather gather it’s Covid jabs, or vaccinations in general.

he will release data and investigations so far and what predominantly points towards the causes. Yes, you can do that. It'll almost certainly point towards multiple hypothesised causes.

Perzival · 30/08/2025 10:06

I'm glad he's said that he will reveal the cause. I doubt he will reveal the real causes but at least it may give organisations/ scientists a renewed determination to look into it and hopefully the real cause will be found at least to profound/severe autism.

There was some research published earlier in the year that found four specific groups of reasons (genetic) that match with four differing presentations. It was torn up by 'actually autistics' not because of a flaw in the research but because they didn't invite people with autism to help run it and they didn't like the clinical language used. In the most profoundly impacted group it was found that the genetic changes weren't handed down from parents but in the groups where people were impacted to a lesser extent by their autism it was genetics passed down.

There has been other genetic research stopped for similar reasons and I remember one stopped because of calls of eugenics.

AmyDuPlantier · 30/08/2025 10:08

Yeah because he knows what decades of scientific research have been unable to definitely reveal.

He should definitely and definitively get fucked.

soupyspoon · 30/08/2025 10:10

Who is RFK? I thought it was Robert Kennedy back from the dead or something

What do you mean by “torn up”?

Disputed? I’ve read that research, as have many people. And it’s the nature of scientific discourse to examine and respond.

Torn up sounds like someone in a lab destroying evidence before it can be released.

I think people who automatically dismiss things like this before they've even heard what's to be said have their own agenda.

If they've been researching for decades then surely they'll have a breakthrough eventually.

I'm not saying I trust them or that I'll blindly believe what they come out with, but I'm willing to listen before I come to any conclusions. Especially given that this would be huge and would help millions of people, if true.

Not scientifically challenged but challenged via sm or groups with feelings/wants rather than intellect.

I think the word genetic is often misunderstood, certainly in discussions Ive heard and read on here in particular anyway

It doesnt mean inherited, it just means your genetic make up, which you are more likely to share of course with your parents or their ancestors.

Its not inherited so to speak in a similar way to eye colour is.

That's interesting because I think I would probably assume that genetic meant hereditary so I'd be guilty of being wrong there
