I know this has probably been done to death but just saw a cafe advertising "Vicky Sponge" and felt compelled to start a thread. Other offenders:

  • any onomataopoeia for anything smell related, particularly if it is alliterative. There was a recent thread about "pongy pits" and being "whiffy" which gave me the inner boak.

Saw "occy health" on here which made me eyes bleed.

"Needs gone".
Drives me mad. What's the matter with the verb "to be"?

ThunderousSkies · 26/08/2025 11:56

Anything involving 'popping'. Popping something in the oven, popping to the shops, popping round, popping your cherry. Ugh.

Mansplaining and manspreading and any other specifically aimed at hating men nonsense.

dollyblue01 · 26/08/2025 12:08

Saying for sure no idea why but just sounds so American

Tell me you struggle with the mere idea of feminism without saying 'I struggle with the mere idea of feminism.'Hmm

LupaMoonhowl · 26/08/2025 12:12

Referring to animals as ‘my boy’ my girl’ or to the owners as ‘mum/dad’ 🤮

Oh god yes, actually referring to them as anything other than children. "Pickles/cherubs/heartbeats/my life" 🤢

How else would I refer to my dogs whom I birthed myself?

NetballHoop · 26/08/2025 12:13

A few of our local roads have had council signs put up saying parking is being suspended to allow street cleansing.

I'd happily inflict papercuts and salty crisps on whoever wote that.

Pigsinblankets13 · 26/08/2025 12:13

'why on earth...' - sounds so pompous and righteous to me 😂

Terriblytwee · 26/08/2025 12:13

PamIsAVolleyballChamp · 26/08/2025 12:13

'If we could just all #be kind'
Because it's never everyone is it? It's generally someone getting told to shut up, put up and prioritise the other group/person!

Terriblytwee · 26/08/2025 12:14

Also fur baby

Thiswontgetthebabybathed · 26/08/2025 12:14

I don’t struggle with feminism, I simply choose to despise it.

UnfashionableArtex · 26/08/2025 12:17

Is "pong" an example of onomatopoeia? I am inclined to think not @homeedhorrors

You may interested to know there was recently a similar thread on here which filled up:

I don’t struggle with feminism, I simply choose to despise it.

So you find the notion that both sexes should have equality 'despicable'.

Right. Well, no one can help you with that.

pintsizeprincess · 26/08/2025 12:19

Similar to another poster mentioning the use of " special human etc " , every year someone i know wishes her mum Happy Birthday on Facebook by saying Happy Birthday to the birth giver . Makes my wince when I see it!

BerryBlastStrawberry · 26/08/2025 12:13

Tell me blah blah blah without telling me blah blah blah.

Reach out.
