Hyped-up activities that are actually shite.

Loads of my friends do yoga. It's really relaxing, they say. It's really mindful, they say. It's a good workout without realising you're working out, they say. It's a really nice community of people, they say.

So on Saturday morning I tried it.

It was bloody awful. Everything about it was bloody terrible. It wasn't remotely relaxing or mindful. I wasn't a very good workout and the people were cult-loke lunatics.

And I've felt a bit lightheaded, dizzy, and just not quite myself ever since.

Tell me about activities that everyone seems to have a wide-on for, but which you hated.

Yoga. It's just so boring to me.

caffelattetogo · 25/08/2025 14:03

I hate yoga too. Spend the whole time waiting for it to be over.

caffelattetogo · 25/08/2025 14:04

I also hate all exercise - sure one day I’ll find something for me!

neleh87 · 25/08/2025 14:09

I like yoga but I just do it at home using YouTube videos so I can pick the pace and style. I don't enjoy any practices that involve a lot of sitting and breathing.

As for activities I don't like:
Running
Fake pumpkin picking
Watching/following football

Afternoon tea. A couple of sandwiches, tiny cakes, drop of Prosecco and they have the audacity to relieve you of £25.

Comedycook · 25/08/2025 14:13

I ended up doing yoga by accident...was meant to be a Pilates class but the teacher didn't show so a yoga teacher stood in and took the class....was mind numbing

Laiste · 25/08/2025 14:13

Halloween.

Hallywally · 25/08/2025 14:14

All exercise including walking. Just so boring and tedious 🥱

ChatGPTMadeMeDoIt · 25/08/2025 14:16

Disney

OriginalUsername2 · 25/08/2025 14:17

I love yoga but I do it at home to a youtube video. I couldn’t relax in a room full of people also doing it.

CynonEileen · 25/08/2025 14:17

Ice skating as part of winter wonderland/festive celebrations. Expensive, crowded and generally crap.

CalzoneOnLegs · 25/08/2025 14:19

Golf

coxesorangepippin · 25/08/2025 14:19

Having a bath with other people?

Also, tapas, anywhere other than Spain

Sharing food??? Not bloody likely

ohnoisaid2much · 25/08/2025 14:19

Camping
Team away days
Secret Santa (in a new team)
A fair number of group activities
Online dating over 35
Speed dating

NotMyRealAccount · 25/08/2025 14:21

I also hate yoga, and meditation brings me as close as I'll ever come to having a panic attack.

Open water swimming, especially in winter when it seems just to be a pretext for spending a fortune on wetsuits, dryrobes and accessories to keep your head, hands and feet warm and you can only stay in the water for about 15 seconds.

JustGoClickLikeALightSwitch · 25/08/2025 14:23

Theme parks.

DinoLil · 25/08/2025 14:23

I used to do yoga. For about three Saturdays on the trot. It was great for ye olde core because I spent each hour and a half session trying to not fart from every orifice or piss myself by clenching every flipping muscle I could find down there.

These days, it's Tena Ladies and relaxation!

Silverbirchleaf · 25/08/2025 14:24

Christmas markets.

Fake pumpkin picking can absolutely get in the bin. Except it's not a popular opinion on here, there's threads on it every autumn and the people who hate it are roundly told off for being fun suckers and joy sponges.

Advent calendars for grown-ups with miniscule samples & sachets of beauty / skincare shite in them.

luckysdadsway · 25/08/2025 14:32

Pumpkin picking

Endofyear · 25/08/2025 14:32

I love yoga 😂 I go to a small class with only 10 people and it's not too new agey just an hour of peace and a good stretch.

I've never done bottomless brunch although a lot of my friends have - the idea of shovelling down as much cheap booze as you can in 1 1/2 or 2 hours really doesn't appeal!

Sellenis · 25/08/2025 14:32

Yes so many of the things listed here. ☝Disney, Halloween (in England), running, salsa, chocolate cake (!!), Christmas markets, theme parks, going to hot places on holiday, watching sport, action movies, reality television, "decor", going shopping, so many things!

I like to watch a Youtuber called Alexandra Gater and she does up small flats for people. She does a lovely job and then at the end of every episode, there's a "decor" montage where she carefully places a load of cheap tat on every surface. Baffling.

Bodyshopdewberry · 25/08/2025 14:36

I once accidentally ended up in a Pilates class that had a guided meditation. My goodness it was tedious. I spent the time thinking of all the things I'd forgotten in the weekly shop and all the work emails that were probably piling up as we had to sit pretending to be a river.

LidlAmaretto · 25/08/2025 14:40

I like most yoga. Some forms are boring. Pilates on the other hand. I find hard and complicated.
