How to clean baby high chair without antibacterial wipes?

RedTreeGreenTree · 24/08/2025 10:08

Was using antibacterial wipes to clean the high chair tray now food has been eating off it, but then was wiping with water afterwards. Have realised they are not designed for food surfaces and this is dangerous. Any safe wipes to use? Putting in the dishwasher or bowl each time isn’t feasible and don’t want to make them ill with not cleaning the food properly afterwards.

Wet cloth.

TickyandTacky · 24/08/2025 10:11

Hot soapy water.

SunflowerLife · 24/08/2025 10:11

It's probably fine as long as you're not putting food directly on it straight after use. I always just used a wet cloth and cleaning spray.

Soapy water and a cloth use kitchen roll to lift some of the bits and just wash with a cloth.

Hot soapy water.

This. Nothing more is needed

Wet cloth.

Stop worrying so much. The high chair is being used as a giant plate. Do you disinfect all plates the baby eats from? Surely not.

Coffeeishot · 24/08/2025 10:13

Washing up liquid is "antibacterial" because you are washing the germs away.

Chemenger · 24/08/2025 10:14

Anything that can be done with a wipe can be done with a cloth. Wipes are so wasteful, they will be in landfill for decades if not centuries.

Terriblytwee · 24/08/2025 10:30

Hot soapy water. A clean cloth that can be popped into the washing machine.

Abuye · 24/08/2025 10:31

Why is it dangerous?!

Zingzoomyzingy · 24/08/2025 10:32

Washing up liquid, hot water and a clean cloth.

white vinegar in a spray bottle/washing up liquid soapy water.

You can buy a pack of reusable wipes for cleaning up baby and I high chair from Tesco. They come with two bags - clean and dirty. Or just buy a pack of flannels. Hot soapy water to clean the high chair.
also Milton spray every couple of days. Thats safe to use with baby’s high chair and toys

Ladedahlia · 24/08/2025 10:37

I can’t understand people who use wipes to clean surfaces. What’s wrong with a cloth and hot soapy water? Use Ecover spray if you want to.

Ladedahlia · 24/08/2025 10:37

Pack of flannels also. Just wash after use .

MaryBerrysFannyHammock · 24/08/2025 10:39

This has to be a troll post, surely?

Hot soapy water and a cloth. Fgs

I’d recommend buying a box of the ‘cheeky wipes’ reusable wipes. Each mealtime I wipe DD’s hands, face and then the high chair with 1-2 of the cloths and we’re good to go! I’ll spray with a bit of antibacterial spray if it needs it too. All the cloths then go in the washing machine once I’ve used them all/I’m putting a wash on anyway.

Iamtarticus · 24/08/2025 11:07

Diluted Milton. It's all i use for surfaces

xglsqCGW · 24/08/2025 11:09

For a deep clean stick it in the shower and blast it with hot soapy water.

Agreed.

Dabberlocks · 24/08/2025 11:17

Do what people did before disposable wet wipes were invented. Plenty of suggestions already.

OldBeyondMyYears · 24/08/2025 11:19

You genuinely can’t think of a way to clean the high chair without using wipes?? How do you survive the day? 🤦‍♀️

realslimshade · 24/08/2025 11:23

This, you can use it on hands, toys, surfaces etc
