Ah, these young ones...

I’m 72!

‘Can you hear me mother?’

Unless you’re of my vintage (or listen to very old radio shows) there may be very few on here who will ‘get’ that one

edited to add another one: Wakey, wakey!

Edited

I’m 62 but I know the first one cos my late mum used to use it a lot. Done in a northern accent I think but I don’t know who by.
My kids are used to me using it but they would have no idea where it comes from.
My now 27 yr old has known ‘don’t tell him Pike’ since he was about 8 when we showed him Dad’s Army as he was doing a WWII topic at school.

He's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy!"

Oooh! Mr Horne, how dolly to vadar your eke.
(Not sure about spelling)

Love them still.

Sandy: Jules got stung in the med.

Mr Horne: Portuguese Man of War?

Jules: Well I never saw him in uniform.

The man from British Gas came to fit new meters a couple of weeks ago. I opened the door and he said 'I'm the gas man', so I grinned, turned towards the sitting room and started shouting 'Hello Mr GAS MAN! It's the GAS MAN! GAS MAN!'

He just gave me an odd look. Especially when he saw no-one was in the sitting room.

It felt like explaining the reference would just make things worse.....

Staghead1 · 22/08/2025 17:58

"No way Pedro"

Always say "Scorchio!" On a hot day in the style of Caroline Aherne, kids look at me like I'm mad.

"I have never seen a dead body or a female nipple. This is what comes from living in a cul de sac."

The best quote & books ever ❤️

Twooo soooups

Oh gawd, a classic . . . young people today are missing a lot.

'You might say so; I couldn't possibly comment.'

Ah. I never liked it, it made me cringe.

Taytocrisps · 22/08/2025 18:01

DD is quite partial to potato waffles. I always treat her to a rendition of, "Birds Eye Potato Waffles, they're waffly versatile (cuckoo)". She rolls her eyes a lot.

Also, "Good morning Vietnam!"

PiriPiriMenopause · 22/08/2025 18:02

That’s you that is.

HonoriaBulstrode · 22/08/2025 18:03

''Evening all.'

5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1!

'Er indoors

'They think it's all over - It is now!'

Summershereatlastt · 22/08/2025 18:05

Good moaning.
Okey dokey pig in a pokey.
Everybody in, it’s spittin.

I find that the only good thing about TikTok, is that it makes the younger generation more aware about music, but not necessarily the artists. Hence my daughter asking if I’d heard of a song called Wonderwall 🤣

BitOutOfPractice · 22/08/2025 16:18

No, Round The Horne. Which is unadulterated filth, all disguised as innuendo. Really funny.

Often re-run on Radio 4 Extra.

I have no idea how they got away with it!

Dontcallmescarface · 22/08/2025 18:07

I have a work colleague ( about the same age as me), whose surname is Patterson. She helped me out recently and I said (in my best "Perry voice"), "fank ooh Mrs Patterson" she laughed, I laughed, our 20 year old colleague just stood there with a "wtf?" look on her face.

CaveMum · 22/08/2025 18:07

Spike Milligan used to say that they got complaints about the jokes in The Goon Show from little old ladies and he loved pointing out to them that if they got the joke then they obviously had filthy minds too!

JackJarvisEsq · 22/08/2025 18:07

Gary!

thornbury · 22/08/2025 18:08

We've just renamed our classes at school and one is now called Skylark. I immediately thought 'All aboard the Skylark!' then I had to Google it to find out why.

What's this quote from? A friend always says it, but I never got the reference.

CrispySquid · 22/08/2025 18:10

In class (secondary school science teacher) I’m always cracking Simpsons quotes or saying stuff like “it’s like the time Mr Burns did…” and all the children look at me blankly not knowing what I’m going on about because they don’t watch it/have never watched it. Still, makes me chuckle to myself.

@ComeIntoTheGardenMaud Kenneth Horne: "Did you drag yourself up on deck?" Sandy: "No, we just dressed casual."

Brilliant!

And is your username an oblique reference to David Bowie and Hunky dory?

The history professor sketch in 90s comedy with David Baddiel and possibly Newman but name of show has gone
