The song lyric from bayonets 'heated' goes

Liberated, livin' like we ain't got time

I'm happy with using 'aint' but does there need to be a : after 'liberated?' Or a comma? 🙈

The 'genius' lyrics show a comma after liberated, but i dont wanna be shamed on pedants corner one day

Also, would you use livin' or living? I prefer living

Its for a tattoo idea

I would only use a colon there if it was followed by a definition. That's not always the case for using it but I think it would be there.

Pricelessadvice · 20/08/2025 15:42

I have a song line on me. For fans of the band, it’s instantly recognisable. For other people, they are a bit confused 😂

People are so snarky about tattoos. I’ve got 2 separate lines from 2 poems tattooed plus a Buffy quote
never regretted any of them

Ok, I need to know the Buffy quote 😁

Ironic. Celebrating the feeling of liberation by etching into your own skin a tattoo you’ll never be free of.

Ironic. A thread with the clear word 'tattoo' in the title yet you click on it to impart your so very important opinion on something you don't like.

It's almost like you, and several others, just want to do a little tattoo bashing isn't it?

Ok, I need to know the Buffy quote 😁

“Without passion we’d be truly dead”

DarlingHoldMyHand · 20/08/2025 15:34

It's showing up as "living" rather than "livin" on Amazon Music, so I'd go with that if you prefer

Oh, I was about to say livin' goes better with ain't.

I'm afraid i'm too much of a basic bitch to know who Cole porter is 😭

Its beyonce

I think the poster was being sarcastic …

All I would say is be very clear which line of that song you want tattooing on your skin - if it’s to go somewhere visible!

Or maybe you’re also having a laugh?

tuvamoodyson · 20/08/2025 16:28

It won’t matter. When you’re old, it’ll just be a big , blue smudge.

I mean you could apply that to anything
why colour your hair it’ll only go grey
why exercise, we all die anyway

pretty depressing way to see things! My tattoos will be just be older and wrinklier like the rest of me

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 20/08/2025 16:35

Not passing judgement on tattoos. (Not for me, but it’s all a matter of choice.)

But what a grammar question! A tattoo! Much more significant than the ones about Facebook Marketplace or the sign over a high street hairdresser.

Whatever you decide on OP, Beyoncé will be there in spirit.

merryhouse · 20/08/2025 17:19

BlueEyedBogWitch · 20/08/2025 14:54

Are the lyrics by Cole Porter?

Grin

Personally, I'd go for a simple line break.

mmmarmalade · 20/08/2025 17:32

I'd put livin' not living.

AI generated idea for you to show you how crap AI is compared to what a talented tattooist can produce!

😅 I didnt pick up on that sarcasm but it seems clear as day

No i'm being serious. It would be my first ever tattoo so it has to mean something

Me and dd love Renaissance (the album, not the period) and without being a sap, motherhood has set me free from the past 🙈

And I'm glad you clarified as I thought The Bayonets might be some new cool indie band

Me too, until I read the lyric “dimples on my hips, stretch marks on my tits” which doesn’t scream Indie band lyrics.

Zonder · 20/08/2025 18:23

Coconutter24 · 20/08/2025 15:28

Tbh I read it and thought you genuinely were being dense but now the ‘you never know’ makes me think you were trying to make a ‘fun’ comment and it played out badly lol

Neither dense nor failing at a fun comment. I see you, however, were attempting to be rude either way. I was asking a genuine question. I've seen people with long wordy tattoos so I wondered if the OP really wanted the whole lot. It wasn't specified in the OP.

tumblingdowntherabbithole · 20/08/2025 18:23

smallslyfox · 20/08/2025 15:22

Awh pal, don't do this. You won't be able to have it as small as you think either or it'll blob, google minimum size for a 7 word tattoo to get some reference pics.

I just came on to say this - you need it to be decently sized or it will just turn into a blob as it ages.

My DS and I love watching Paw Patrol together but I’m not going to get “Rubble at the double” tattooed across my face.

Honestly just don’t do it.

I genuinely thought you was trying to wind Op up and then your response came across as cocky so if my comment did come across as rude it was in retaliation to what I thought was you being cocky

Iwasneverafan · 20/08/2025 18:33

”Renaissance” would be a lovely better tattoo and have a similar meaning- “Rebirth”
